Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

The newest proper trailer made this look pretty great to me. Which is interesting because none of them have done a thing for me so far.

What does one have to do with the other? And it's got nothing to do with believability. I never said it looks unbelievable. I said it looks ridiculous. The new Super Predator could probably crush a human skull with nothing but his thumb and index finger. It's just too much.
The thing is, we have seen them defeat plenty of Predators at this point. We have even seen a middle aged Danny Glover and Adrian Brody of all people destroy them. Ridiculous might be necessary for a challenge.

Yeah. I hate the idea of the big guy on paper, but those of us who haven't seen it yet have jack-all to go on as far as context. It's all in how they do it, if there's a rationale behind it that "feels" right for lack of a better term.

You don't get that from trailers and commercials, it's a wait-and-see. Really just sensing this'll be an Iron Man 3 thing, the movie overall, you'll love it or hate it and there's no in-between. Which in a way I'm fine with, that's better than just being "basically fine, but meh", like Predators was.

8 days before the movie releases and still no reviews. No critics reaction and no RT score.

It's gonna flop in every single way imaginable, at least The Nun is making money

Or we could subvert expectations and have the Predator win for a change. I think it would be perfectly fine for one Movie in the franchise to not have a "happy" ending, where the prey survives.

You could. But then the question becomes, what equals victory for a Predator when people know they exist and they would theoretically keep fighting until they were killed on Earth. And again, considering who they have lost to over the years, I mean how crappy would the humans need to be? This is like going back to one Alien after Aliens.

I was told to hold my review until the 13th when the embargo lifts here in Bulgaria.

*Laughs* 8 days out isn't remotely unusual. Calm your boobies, people. Either it's good or it sucks, but a review embargo not having broken yet isn't an indication either way. Give it a few days.

I forgot to mention that a lot of my colleagues at the screening enjoyed the film. I was one of the few that disliked it.

I think it would be more advisable to hold back on posting in this thread until then, you did give us a mini review of sort.

I'm thinking this could be an Iron Man 3 situation. Some will adore it others will hate it.

It is interesting that people are hard on this movie because of the comedy when we got this in the original.

None of have seen this movie, but what I love about Black is that nothing is precious to him. He'll take whatever he needs from something and mold it to how he sees fit. I think with this movie not everyone is gonna like how he expands on the Predator. But I'm pretty excited. I don't want to keep seeing a Predator just hunting x in an isolated setting. The first movie covered that. If you're gonna keep doing these, shake it up.

They honestly should just make an Anthology series with Predator and have warriors from different times and cultures face off with one. Id pay big money to see a Spartan unit during the Peloponnesian Wars take one on. Or Samurai in feudal Japan.

Oh dear god, Black you idiot.....what a massive **** !

Just days before the final cut of The Predator was due to be turned in, 20th Century Fox learned that writer and director Shane Black had hired actor Steven Wilder Striegel to shoot a scene alongside Olivia Munn in which he repeatedly hits on her character. What's the big deal? Well, he's a registered sex offender - a fact Black was aware of and one he willingly chose not to notify the studio or cast about.

A longtime friend of Black's, Striegel pleaded guilty in 2010 after being accused of attempting to lure a 14-year-old girl into a sexual relationship online. Munn learned of his past on August 15th and notified the studio. To their credit, they took immediate action and decided to remove the scene from the film.

Surprisingly, Black has previously managed to sneak his friend into both Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys. "I personally chose to help a friend," Black explains. "I can understand others might disapprove, as his conviction was on a sensitive charge and not to be taken lightly." The filmmaker later went on to say that Striegel was actually "caught up in a bad situation versus something lecherous."

In a statement of her own, Munn has said that she finds it "both surprising and unsettling that Shane Black, our director, did not share this information to the cast, crew, or Fox Studios prior to, during, or after production. However, I am relieved that when Fox did receive the information the studio took appropriate action by deleting the scene featuring Wilder to release of the film," she adds.

This isn't quite a PR nightmare for Fox but it doesn't reflect well on Black and his decision to include a registered sex offender in one of his movies is bound to have a negative impact on his career, especially in the midst of the #MeToo movement.

Now THAT's a good reason to fire your director!

Yeah, I doubt they will know I said something here. But I am not giving major spoilers. ;)

Black was incredibly stupid for doing that, and IDK why he didn't know better, especially after the James Gunn fiasco.

Now this could be a good idea. Predators fighting different warriors, armies... from different eras. That could be really cool.

Also he was cast in a role that apparently involved him repeatedly hitting on Olivia Munn's character. Olivia Munn, who's already had bad experiences with sexual harassment in Hollywood and has been open about it. And Black didn't tell her about it either it would seem. Like this is tone-deaf on EVERY possible level.

Granted this all started filming before #MeToo really started, but whatever. Can't really defend this.

Outrage mob, have at it.

Black really screwed that up. I'm not sure how exactly you fall into "a bad situation" like this.
