Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

That movie was awful, yes. To me, it was the lowest point in both franchise. Even more so than Alien 3 and Res, because at least at a creative and technical level, they were quality movies. Requiem was so low brow, badly shot, and stupid.

Russell Brand!

Thanks for the nightmare inducing photo dude.

Requiem was R-rated and it still sucked. So it's not just about R-rating.

Of course it needs to be a good movie, as well. But something such as Predator (or Die Hard, or Terminator - or Deadpool, thank God for that!!) still needs to be R-rated... just because sometimes you need a higher rating to allow the premise to run its natural course.

I hear Jen Lawrence will be one of the Special Ops unit members.

I'd actually be fine with a main female protagonist this time. The Alien franchise had one (well two if you count Noomi Rapace in Prometheus, and I think that Katherine Waterston is playing the main lead in the next film as well, so three actually). Terminator got one. So why not the Predator films as well. Heck I give the last film credit for casting Adrien Brody as a more realistically-proportioned military type, as opposed to going for another massive body-builder.

As for whether it should be Jennifer Lawrence, I'm conflicted. I do like her, and she has proven that she can do action pretty well. But when I think of the Predator franchise, someone like her doesn't exactly spring to mind right away. Although maybe the unlikeness of it could be an interesting story element if done well, maybe.

Of course it isn't, you still have to make a good movie regardless of the rating. BUT, the R-rating is still an important part of the "feel" of these franchises nonetheless imo.

I remember the days when Hollywood tried to make Russell Brand a thing.

Russell only works when it's a cameo or a small role. He cannot carry a movie because he's unrelatable.

I'm still disappointed we never got a drop dead Fred remake with Russell. What makes you say he is unrelatable?

The only way I'd support JLaw in a Predator movie would be if her character got offed by the Pred. :hehe:

He's good in certain roles but personally I think there's a disconnect. Maybe he's he's often going at 200 MPH, and a flashy intellectual. A little bombastic. I mean, I'm able to connect to Per-Wee Herman more so than him.

So he works better as a supporting type than the lead. At least to me.

You're **** out of luck, buddy.

She IS the Predator.

The Predator would feature an Old Arnold Schwarzenegger…if he appeared

Rumors have swirled for some time now about Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to the world of Predator with Shane Black’s upcoming reboot of the franchise, though no confirmation has ever come about. Speaking with CraveOnline, Black confirmed some details on the film, like its modern day seting, meaning that, like Terminator Genisys, should Schwarzenegger return, he’ll be back as “Old Arnold.”

“These things all happened in 1990,” Black says of the events in the first two Predator movies. “But now it’s 25 years later. So in other words, if Arnold [Schwarzenegger]’s in it – which I’m not allowed to discuss [laughs] – he would be old Arnold.”

Schwarzenegger appeared as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in John McTiernan’s original film where he lead a United States special forces team that came under attack from an alien entity that prizes the thrill of the hunt above all else.

Black also said that the title for the film, The Predator, has significance in the film’s script,

“There is a reference in the script as to why that makes sense, but I’m not really supposed to talk about it.”

Production on The Predator is expected to begin this fall for a March 2, 2018 release.

Details on the film are still under wraps, but producer John Davis previously said: “The writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you, you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’”

The original Predator was followed by a direct sequel, Predator 2, in 1990 before crossing over with Fox’s Alien franchise for two additional sequels, Alien vs. Predator and AvP: Requiem. In 2010, Nimrod Antal helmed a reboot with a new feature, Predators.

I literally couldn't tell as I couldn't see anything (!) it was too dark. Seriously, couldn't they have just done a Se7en and retrospectively lightened the movie for release?

I guess this Predator is some sort of alpha male Predator if the title is any indication. Which makes me hope he survives the movie.
