Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel!

I hope they don't try to ret-con this as how the Super Preds from Predators were created.

Sounds good to me. I hope Jane's role is equivalent to David Harbour's in Stranger Things (Concidentally named after the skinned body Arnold finds the first).

Instead of introducing more predators, I wish they could come up with a new creature. Predators can't be the only aliens out there, and no I'm not referring to xenomorphs

The source does not inspire confidence either.

This kinda makes me wonder how a re-match of Arnold now in his old age vs an equally-old Pred would go. Would be an interesting concept to see a senior-aged Pred. :p

I would not bet on an old Butch vs an Elder Predator 😀

That doesn't sound a Shane Black story to me. It's too trite and cliche.

To be fair it's a summary of the script. It does not offer any signs of the quality of the story.

And the summary has been taken down, due to Fox. So it's legit.

Fox took down those Alien: Covenant rumours which didn't turn out to be legit IIRC.

Seriously if that is anywhere near the basis of a Shane Black predator script, I'll be disappointed.

Of course I'll give the guy a chance but that doesn't sound right.

This should start filming really soon, if it hasn't already.

EDIT: Ah, speak of the devil. Holbrook says it starts next week (24th).
but also said Predator begins filming in "12 days." This interview was conducted on February 12 -- making February 24 the start date for the film.

Excerpt from another interview:
...Let’s move to future stuff. Are you doing season 3 of Narcos? Is that happening?

Boyd Holbrook: [Heavy sigh] No, they’re down there filming that now. I’m currently working on Predator.

Yeah, Shane Black’s film. How’s that going?

Boyd Holbrook: It’s pretty cool, man.

It’s a sequel right?

Boyd Holbrook: No. I mean, Shane Black is one of the most prolific writers going. You look at James Mangold, Scott Frank who also wrote this and I’ve worked in A Walk Among the Tombstones with, great director as well. Then you have Shane Black.

He’s made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of Predator [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh.

Are there any characters from the original in there?

Boyd Holbrook: I don’t think you’re going to see Schwarzenegger in this. I don’t want to speak out of school but it would kind of make it a bit of a gimmick. Hats off to Schwarzenegger for paving the way. We all appreciate it but for it to have its own life it’s got to be singular. It’s going to be rated-R.

Is it going to be as violent as this one or more on the horror side?

Boyd Holbrook: Well, I think it’s a hybrid. It’s a horror film. It’s science-fiction and a western, as well. I think people are so ****ing tired of these Avenger films.

Well, they are churning them out.

Boyd Holdbrook: It’s a factory. I’m so happy that all the people are employed and making a lot of money but it’s just the demographic that we’re splitting hairs about at the end of the day. I think Predator is going to be ****ing wicked.

Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Sterling K. Brown, etc. Not seeing the problem with the cast.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if this is worse than AVP 1 and 2.

Suburbia? Really! How about in a worn torn part of the world? Predator vs African rebels and ends up facing a child soldier for the final showdown ala Beast of No Nation. Why not make it in the Roman, or Medieval times..?

Hollywood lacks any creativity.

Jesus. We've been over this multiple times, from back in November:

Included in THR’s report on Munn’s casting was the claim that The Predator will take place in the suburbs. However, Black himself reached out to tell us that is not the case—The Predator is not a movie about the suburbs.

You know better than this -you're an old school member of the board. No, I highly doubt it'll be worse than Requiem.

I find it very hard to believe that a Shane Black movie would be worse than the AVP films. REALLY hard.

Moridin
I guess some people just don't pay attention.
