David F. Sanberg already promised that Billy won't be a 'huge d--khead'.
I do hope that he meant it and not a playword of 'not a huge d--khead, but just a d--khead.'
What I got from the trailer was that Billy is a loner, not trusting anyone and not ready to open his heart yet. He ran away from 6 foster houses before and we don't know exactly why. Maybe he just need the right family to tear down the walls.
Defrosting the ice prince or whatever that called. It seems to be designed for some character development action.
But maybe his Captain Marvel self is actually his true self unleashed. And later he'll be as cheery.
From some clip of Andi Mack, Asher excels at playing happy goofy cheery kid, definitely want something similar like that for Billy.
I do agree that Billy laugh more because of the idea of sudden magical power from weird magic word but the trailer edited it for a punchline about 'Shazam' that seems sound silly.
Plus, unlike Freddy, he doesn't seem particularly enthusiastic about whole superhero stuff or superpowers.
But I don't know why he is appears so stubborn or almost passed like a skeptic even though the subway train transported magically to strange place. And live in a world that superpowered beings exist nonetheless.
Ah, I forgot to say that while I hoped that whole Marvel family appeared at SDCC panel, I'm glad that for now the panel, trailer and marketing are more focused and contained.
They're saving up more characters and surprises for later.
