I know IT was shot two years ago but Jack Dylan Glazer has really grown which isn't too shocking considering he's 14. Asher Angel still looks relatively young despite being the same age
The ONLY issue I have with it all, and it's no biggie, I am sure it will work itself out over the film, but I would buy Jack as the younger Zach more than I do Asher.
They did that in TASM2 and a child dressed like Iron Man in a MCU film so it's not unusual and I imagine it's cheaper for WB to use existing merchandise that create fake ones for one movie.

I really enjoyed the trailer, it reminded me of the 80s film "Big" but with superpowers lol.
I did chuckle that this trailer was very similar to the Aquaman trailer (almost beat for beat, the kid bullies were a big stand out). I wonder if it was cut by the same DC/WB editor.
I think its kinda cool that they used existing merch. As i said, it's nitpick, but i would have rather they tried to be original... it wouldn't have cost an arm and a leg, just contract some half decent custom figure makers or some bad ones and say the kids made these out of crappy marvel toys

Give other examples of how they were similar.
Jack was my top choice for Billy after seeing IT.
Asher has grown on me since he was cast and especially after the trailer but I still would have preferred JDG.
Glad he has what looks like big part in the movie though
You cant really believe that Shazam is supposed to be DCs Deadpool.
Thats ****ing ridiculous.

 t:
t:Finally, the first trailer for Shazam! is here but we dont get to see a lot of Mark Strong as Thadius Sivana except for a shot of the villain facing off Shazam. Fortunately, EWs recent Comic-con Bonus issue shared some insight on Dr. Sivanas backstory.
Give other examples of how they were similar.

I remember as a kid Id want things that looked exactly like what I saw in the movies. It would always be disappointing to realize that it was just something made for the movie
Kids have access to things theyll see in this movie.
They can have a lot of the same things that Freddie has.
I saw the Shazam trailer and it was funny as hell but it also had the superhero vibe to it but also like a Tom Hanks Big quality to it as far as Billy turning from a kid into a fully grown adult by saying one key word and he turns into a superhero and discovering his powers...I wonder why the other foster kids weren't seen in the trailer or why they haven't come into their powers either
So how does this franchise work if they want to do sequels and the kid playing Billy Batson continues to get older?
Its really ridiculous.Probably because it was a first trailer? Maybe? It's obvious there is still tons to finished in this film. This was a taste a very, very preliminary taste. Have you not seen this type of teaser before? And before anyone brings up Aquaman that film has only five months until release. For all intents that movie is in post production with the finishing touches etc. being locked in or refined. Not so with Shazam.
People it's obvious where this movie is at in terms of completion so expect things like more action and other characters showing up and being introduced to the audience in later trailers.
I swear... EVERY SINGLE TIME.
First trailer drops that shows bare minimum. Fanboy online reaction as thought this were the first time they had ever seen or heard of the concept of a trailer: "Why didn't that show me the film in it's entirety?!!"
Or...
First trailer drops revealing more than the bare minimum. Fanboy online reaction as though this were first they have ever seen or heard of a trailer: "What? They showed me the film in its entirety! Who is telling you to do that?!"

Freddie's shirts.

There was Superman and Batman merch in Suicide Squad. The only Batman merch shown in Suicide Squad wasn't based on his DCEU look. So I think more of the heroes might have become a little bit more public during the events of JL due to the Superman resurrection happening out in the open. Which would probably explain why Freddie has a DCEU accurate Batman toy and an Aquaman and a Wonder Woman t shirt. I think he doesn't have a Cyborg shirt because he was the only hero in JL that didn't have a logo on his body. It's a silly nitpick, but i really can't get over them using official movie merchandise inside a movie. I wish they had their own version of the s hield and batman shield etc for their own merch - it looks like they are comic book fans who happens to be a real life hero.
It's like, if we had super heroes, for sure we would have merchandise but at least think outside the box to how we would handle it, then translate it to their world. A bit like UFO and alien merchandise and also, why is there a toy of superman with the red pants???
