I wonder how this will be explained. I can get behing merch for Supes and Batman since they have been around for quite a while but how does someone like Aquaman get a t-shirt with his own logo on it? Was he ever even out much in the public during JL to be caught by cameras and what not?

Also, that kid has a Certificate of authenticity card among his stuff, I wonder what it's for.

I think the certificate is for a bullet that impacted Superman. Look at the copper looking object in the bag with the certificate and then look at the bullet Shazam/Capt. Marvel picks up in the convenience store. They look the same. So Freddy as a collector has a certificate of authenticity for a bullet fired at Supes.

I'm kinda expecting a scene towards the end of the movie with Supes approaching Billy and giving him some kind of compliment or even telling him there's a certain club he might be invited to in the future.

It would be interesting to see Billy stumble upon Superman stopping a crime early on and have an exchange with him then have a callback to that with Superman stopping in on this mysterious new hero he only knows as Shazam.

It will be telling how much DCEU stuff will be in the film in terms of interconnected material. We see through Freddy's collection already that this is firmly in continuity with all that's come before. AM is obviously a post JL film as well so in terms of connecting to the wider universe it seems that WW84 is the outlier.

There was Superman and Batman merch in Suicide Squad. The only Batman merch shown in Suicide Squad wasn't based on his DCEU look. So I think more of the heroes might have become a little bit more public during the events of JL due to the Superman resurrection happening out in the open. Which would probably explain why Freddie has a DCEU accurate Batman toy and an Aquaman and a Wonder Woman t shirt. I think he doesn't have a Cyborg shirt because he was the only hero in JL that didn't have a logo on his body.

I appreciate what you are saying - but superman in this universe never wore red pants.... so why would he be depicted that way? it must be my ocd but i am having a hard time with this merch, i would have rather than customized their own - as for the dceu accurate toy - i don't see that i just see rebirth - so again it feels like they are comic nerds and these heroes only exist on paper, like in our world.

Adaptions do make homages to things from the comics that don't make it to these adaptions, like referencing the Dark Knight Returns in TNBA, or Malcolm the Guardian dressing up in the first Superboy outfit in Young Justice.

The tone and humor are well done, not to mention the roles seem well cast. I'm sure due to the parallels to the movie "Big" it will come off very likable.

However, even though the suit is as comic book accurate as they come - it's too Cosplay on the big screen especially with the cinematography/lighting they chose. The padding is still too much too.

I got the vibe this will definitely have a smaller scale feel to it.

Superman wouldn’t make sense to show up until the very end, if at all. This is Billy’s journey so you don’t want the audience to be reminded that Superman can just swoop in and save the day if needed like what happened in Justice League.

He wouldn’t need to swoop in if he knew Shazam could handle it.
If someone like Shazam popped up, it would make sense for Superman to check them out.

I don't know, are they turning Sivana into a fighter?
Flying? And lightning from hands?

I seriously hope that to give SHAZAM/Captain Marvel someone to fight, just because they separated Teth Adam into his own movie, that they don't feel like they have to turn Sivana into a brawler?

^While there are hysterical instances where he powers himself up, I imagined Sivana as more using others to do his biding and fighting for him (Seven Deadly Sins, Oggar, Ibac, etc.).
Or use a giant robot, his own (or Mr. Atom) under his control. While he hangs back safely manipulating at the controls.

...He should ultimately be the science guy, manipulating things behind the scenes.
And that in their big reveal it's Teth Adam (Dwayne Johnson) who shows up at the end to nab the power!
Prompting Billy to "share" it with his family, and the final big fight is between them and (not Sivana) but Adam.

I love Mark Strong but have to agree with this.

We all know that Dr. Sivana is a mastermind villain who can be compared to the likes of Lex Luthor. Though in the comics, Dr. Sivana only has the power of science at his disposal. The movie version has given him an upgrade and has also made changes to his backstory.

In this new version, Dr. Sivana also encountered the Wizard when he was a kid but it doesn’t look like things went his way as after being rejected, Sivana spends his life searching for a way to gain the abilities of Shazam!. It seems like his search for power comes from his desire to live up to the expectation of a domineering father.

Though rejected by the Wizard, Dr. Sivana still seems to have other abilities up his sleeves as the article states that he also acquires magical powers. While the trailer doesn’t show the villain using his magic abilities, some of the set photos did show him take on Shazam! and also have the upper hand against the superhero.

In the new 52 continuity, Dr. Sivana got a slight upgrade as one of his eyes had the ability to see magic. The trailer confirms that the villain’s right eye will grant him this ability. but it looks like the movie version goes a step ahead and grants him the power to use magic as well. It will be interesting to see what form of magic Dr. Sivana will use against Shazam! in the movie.

Ugh Sivana a brawler ...granted Magic...is the worst use of Sivana. Who should be the manipulator behind the scenes.
Why didn't they just use Teth Adam for the big fight.

I'm having horrible flash backs to Green Lantern where wanting to stretch the franchise, they saved evil Sinestro for the next film, and instead focused on freekin Hector Hammond wanting to get the power.

Sivana is a great character, but not like this.
And if that spoiler is true, they just merged him with Teth Adam, who has the exact same scene in the N52 origin.

See... I just don't see Sivana as he's in the comics as being the sort you can really stretch out into multiple films and not come off like a Luthor lite. As much as I enjoy the comic version of SHAZAM/Capt Marvel I think his rogue's gallery would mostly need the Vulture from HOMECOMING treatment.
