Well, I saw X3 this past Monday night at a local movie theater. Before seeing the film, I have tried to stay objective, but have mostly been somewhat negative about this film before its release. I’d like to say that my past feelings didn’t influence my current feelings and opinion after seeing the film, but I’m not sure. Well, I took my seat at 7:15pm, and I was honestly excited about this film, I felt like a little kid again, waking up on Christmas morning. I was sitting next to my GF, and she’s not the hugest X-Men fan, she’s seen bits and parts of the movie, so there I am, giving her a “cliff notes” type summary of the previous X-Men movies.
The time is now 7:30, the lights go dim, and the reels start to role. To my surprise there are no previews, usually I would be disappointed, but not in this case, my only desire is to be immersed in the world of the X-Men.
The movie flew by, and when I left the film, I felt very weird. I know I will be mocked for saying this, but I felt l did after I had sex for the first time. I enjoyed it, but it could have been better, and longer, lol, sorry, but that is how I felt, after both of them. Wow, that was bad.
You all know the story, so I’m not going to go over that, plus, I’m going to try to keep it “Spoiler Light”, but no promises
I’m going to start out by telling you about the things that I liked. First off, Ian is great as Magneto, which is no surprise, he is an outstanding actor, and you can just see the hatred in his eyes when he talks in this movie. I also love the way he knows how to talk to mutants, how he makes each person feel like they are not the outcast, but a god among humans. When he lifts the GG Bridge, it is amazing; it is by far one of the best special FX I have ever seen in film, it is jaw dropping. My next favorite is Pyro, after X2, I was afraid he would be nothing more then a pawn for Magneto, but in this movie, he is basically Magnetos right hand man. I love the way he’s always right by his side, when Magneto is in the church, and he’s trying to recruit mutants, then Callisto and her gang confront him, Pyro is right there ready to rumble incase anyone wants to go after Magneto. When he’s causing mayhem too, you can see the joy of his hatred in his face, whether it’s lighting cars ablaze or talking smack to another mutant, he is just crazy cool. Hugh Jackman again is outstanding as Logan, he does feel a little bit watered down in this film, but you know what, he’s fun. These movies need a center character, and whether or not you like the wolverine, he is the main focus; you can’t deny that Hugh keeps your attention, and makes you laugh when the time is right. Even though he does crack jokes a lot, when you see him fight (the woods scene it awesome) you get into it, and it makes you wish you had steel claws and could regenerate, he’s total badass. Professor X is good as usual, there’s not much to say about him in this film though, because he doesn’t do much more then he did in the other ones, I’m not going to go into spoilers with him, but when a certain event happens, you feel heartbroken, you realize that he is so important to each x-men, he is their father and mentor.
Halle Berry, well this is where I’m going to change from things I liked, to things I just don’t know about. Halle is a good actress; she has proved herself in other films, but not in any x-men film, including this one. She has an expanded role, but I still don’t buy her as storm. When I see storm in the comics, you can see her wisdom and history, the way she talks and they way she looks. Halle is a gorgeous woman, but when I look at her, I just see a gorgeous woman, not a woman that was once a criminal or who was raised in Africa. I know none of that was explained in these movies, but being a comic fan, these traits and events are cemented in my mind. Plus I just don’t like the way her character changes from movie to movie, the first movie, she had a African accent, then in x2, she lost the accident and talked like a normal woman, now in x3, she talks like she was born in East St. Louis, she seems very urban, and that’s not how I picture Storm. Plus when she is telling Beast and Rogue that “there is nothing wrong with us” you almost have to roll your eyes, Storm can fit in with humans, Beast can not, and Rogue can’t even touch another person, so to storm I say this “walk a mile in their shoes, then tell me if the cure seems like a bad idea. I loved her action scenes though, well, kind of. When she fights, it’s awesome, but for some reason I don’t buy Halle Berry. I just don’t think she tried that hard in this film, and it shows. Another character I kind of liked was Juggernaut, he was funny, and when he said his helmet makes his face stay pretty, I started to laugh “salmon peace for pudding”, sorry, had to put it in there. He doesn’t get to say “I'm the juggernaut, *****!” though, it cuts away before the B word, but you can tell he was going to say that. My main problem with him was he didn’t do much besides being the Brotherhood Ox, and before you know it, he’s gone. I don’t mind juggernaut being a mutant in the film, I think showing him as a normal person who discovered some crystal that made him super human, would be to far of a stretch for this X-Men series, but why couldn’t they have shown that he is Xavier’s step-brother, that made me mad. Phoenix, oh my, the lovely Famke, she did a great job in this film when the time came, but for the majority, she’s just standing around, not doing much. Her scenes with Logan are great, but feel like there were forced, if Cyclops would have had Logan’s role in this film, it would have been better, I just don’t buy it that Logan loves her, when he’s known her for not even two weeks. Also, where is the fire bird, I sure didn’t see it in the film; they show it to us in x2, but not in here???…. Plus she really wasn’t referred to as the phoenix in this movie. I really feel like the dark phoenix plotline was wasted, it felt like an after thought, the cure storyline was the main focus; you should have saved the dark phoenix for another movie. Beast was another so/so aspect for me, Grammar played the role great, and I was glad to see him fight in the end, don’t worry about the reviews you read so far, his fight scenes are not that bad, I like them. I just didn’t care that much for the fur suite, it wasn’t as bad as I expected, it could have been better, but then again, it could have been worse. The last so so thing for me, was the Danger Room, while I felt like the needed to show the danger room, it just wasn’t done that great, plus the sentinel was a waste of time and money IMO, if you aren’t going to show the hole sentinel in all it’s glory, then don’t show it. Mystique is cool as usual, and I thought her end was very satisfying and heartbreaking. She just couldn’t catch a break in this movie.
Now to the things I don’t like or just didn’t care for. Lets start with the dreaded Cyclops, while I feel his character has been mistreated this hole series, just playing Yin to Logan’s Yang, he is really mistreated in this one. If you don’t want to know his fate, stop reading now, because this is spoilerific. Cyclops is screwed over big time in this film. You can tell Fox had an agenda to punish Mardsen for signing up to do Superman. He has two scenes basically, and if you’ve seen the trailers, you’ve seen all his screen time minus 1 minute. Yes, he is killed in this movie, but not in the way the other characters meet their demise, they don’t even show his death, plus, after he dies, no one, you got that, no one seems to care or is impacted in anyway. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Fox is giving the one finger salute with two hands to Mardsen. They are telling him, that “we don’t care that you are doing Superman, in fact!!!!! No one in the film cares about your character at all……” To give a Cyclops a smaller role or a decent death would have at least been tactful, but no, they couldn’t even do that, he is nothing more then a sacrificial lamb to the executive fat cat gods at Fox.

Okay, sorry about that, let’s go on. All of the other characters are ok in this movie minus the brotherhood, which I will get to in a moment. No character, minus Angel really shines. Colossus is cool, though he looks like the T-1000 from T2 when in metal form, the Rogue / Bobby relationship feels very forced, and Angel, even though I love his character and he is very cool in this movie, has no screen time, and he climatic rescue at the end, is just painful dull and uninspired.
The absolute worst part of the film is the Brotherhood members, it is a mish most of familiar mutant names and different powers. It’s like they went through the comics and picked out names then picked powers from a hat. Also how can you tell who the bad guys are, they wear leather and have tattoos, come on, how much more stereotypical can you get. Don’t even get me started on Quills, when he’s trying to intimidate Pyro, people actually started to laugh in the theater, “oooooohhh, your porcupine spikes, better watch out” honestly, what a lame power, and name too, go back to you burrow and stay there. Callisto is boring, the running effect was cool, and she has two very nice friends, if you know what I mean. Pyslocke was wasted, she had a few lines and a quick death, well deserved for a character with a strong fan base and nice back story (and people want to see Gambit, consider his character lucky). And that girl that looked like Christ Tucker, all I can say is……….. Nice hair…
Multiple Man was cool, but was a one truck pony.

Now my main beef was Magnetos fate, he was cured, so to speak, well kind off, well I don’t know, and to top it off, he’s free. He’s playing chess in public, instead of being locked away in jail, how many people have you heard of (don’t say OJ Simpson either) that committed murder, broke out of jail, kidnapped people, destroyed the GG bridge and committed terrorism, and are not being hunted by the police or army for that matter, Also, I felt like I was rooting for the Brotherhood the hole movie, Mutants were being hunted and forced to take the cure, and yet the x-men decide to fight, not the people going after them, but the people who want to stop the cure…. I just thought that by the x-men doing that, they really didn’t haven’t mutant kinds best interest in mind, I know magneto was using murder and destruction to complete his goal, but can you really blame him, I mean, this guy suffered through the holocaust, and persecution is happening all over again, and how were the Nazi’s stopped, force, so how can you blame him for using it….. I don’t agree with his methods, heart in the right place, and brain in the wrong……..idk, very weird situation.
When the movie ended, I felt like there was very little closure, okay, Rogue is cured, now what, Magneto is somewhat depowered, so what’s he going to do next, Xavier’s back, kind of………….. the cures still around, and what happened to the surviving brotherhood members, are they in Jail, are they free, there was many things that weren’t cleared up, and I feel another 30 minutes could have helped this. I’m not trying to hate on this movie, it has its flaws and it’s has its strong points, like any movie, but I feel it could have been better. So go see this movie, I was entertained while watching it, and want to see it again, is was great summer fun, and when it comes out on DVD, I will watch all three movies back to back to back, and it will be great, this movie will definitely be better when watched as a third part, not as a separate movie…

I posted this yesterday in the Masters thread.

Start of by saying I was completely blown away by this film, for me it exceeded all expectations. I was suprised at the quality and how throughly enjoyable it was. I will admit that some hardcore fans might be disappointed and I'll come to that in a moment.

Ratner knows how to direct action and IMO The Last Stand contains some of the best action sequences in the trilogy. Although its action heavy I was still able to connect with the drama unfolding as well. The visual effects in this film are simply incredible, its on a higher scale than the previous two films. the Phoenix scenes are fantastic and had me screaming at the screen! Storm also flexes her powers which is great to see. With the introduction of many new characters we get to see new powers.

The scale is much bigger, it deals with the 'mutant problem' on a national scale. There are many characters in this film which is the main problem, its hard to give each character a meaningful or significant role. Major players from the previous films are reduce to smaller roles to make way for extra characters. Cyclops, Mystique, Angel are criminally underused. Having said that some characters make it worthwhile, I was particulary impressed with Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and of course Kelsey Grammer, who IS Beast. A great addition to the X-Men and I was thrilled when he utters his infamous line 'Oh my stars and garters'. Famke Janssen was incredible, conveying her internal struggle, her scenes were a real highlight. I was completely terrified by her transformation, the scene at her childhood home is heartbreaking yet awe inspiring. Storm delivers, signficantly larger role which she fills and looked great of course!

I think both ROLO & JELO fans will be satisfied, the ROLO relationship was hinted at, which is what I was hoping for. Storm looks to Wolverine to support and it was enjoyable to watch Wolverine really become part of the team. The love triangle between Bobby, Kitty & Rogue is sweet, I'm sure many girls have been in Rogue's position (without the power!)

The Last Stand is lighter than X1 & X2 but still dark enough to keep the continuity. It does have a different feel to the previous films and that comes with the change of director. This film has incredible energy and I think it stems from Ratner. Hats off to him, he has done an impressive job of taking over this franchise. He directs the drama scenes well to prevent the film from becoming a simply style over substance film which could have easily happened with the amount of effects. I have to admit there were tears welling up at times, this film does tug at the heartstrings! Overall I'd give it a 4/5, I'm undecided whether it is better than X2 but it is certainly a worthy addition to the trilogy.

I´ve seen it yesterday ( Wednesday ), and I loved it!

I was in no way disappointed. Critics complain, that there was less character development, than in part 1 and 2. That´s right, but you should not see X3 as a single film. You should see it as part of a trilogy. Character development was done in 1 and 2, so part 3 may be granted to be the big finale of the battle, which it was. Sure, there are new faces, which would give an interesting story, but where shall this lead to? Tell the indepth story of Colossus, of Shadowcat, of the Morlocks, of Multiple Man, the family bonds between Juggernaut and Prof. X, the circumstances how Xavier lost the use of his legs, and, and, and, ... - There wouldn´t be any time left to bring up a story. Beside, there was one new aspect of Prof. X, which should not be underrated: We learn, that he is not the perfect saint, but a man, who takes questionable steps, if needed, to meet his beliefs.

Instead, this movie focusses on being a superhero flick. Magneto being omnipotent, as we know him, and not only levitating Zippos. The Phoenix as a nearly invincible threat. And the sheer number of mutants shows us, that they are not only a group, but a new species within the human race. Well, this is the only point, I didn´t like: Magnetos mutants looked all similar somehow: All gothic, all tattoed, all outsider-ish, all clothed in brown. There should have been more diversity, showing, that mutantdom is a worldwide phenomenon, which can meet everyone, from manager to blue collar worker.

---------------------

But let´s take another approach: I am visiting the X3 forum since November 2002 (!) and I remember some things that were discussed since:

Will we have Angel?
We had Angel, and he was pure eye candy. I got goosebumps seeing him fly.

Will we see Beast?
Beast was there. Could have shown more of his agility, but well ...

Will there be Sentinels?
There was at least one, in the Danger Room. We didn´t get to see much of him, but hey - there was a Sentinel.

Will we see the Danger Room?
See above.

Will Storm fly at least?
She did.

Will Storm live up to be a goddess?
Pretty much so.

Who will play Shadowcat?
I think, Ellen Page was a good choice, I liked her from the first moment. She is sweet ( and she reminds me of a girl I know :) )

Will the Dark Phoenix Saga be handled?
It was, and not bad. This storyline could have been a trilogy of its own, but for one movie, it was translated well.

Will Colossus have more screentime?
He had - not much more, but enough.

Will Iceman ice up?
He did - and he looked cool, in both meanings of the word.

---------------

What I didn´like too much, was the very ending: Some mutants lost their powers, but then there was this chessman, indicating, that maybe they didn´t.

Some mutants died, but the last scene showed, that at least Prof. X didn´t.

They took some radical steps in this movie, but hadn´t the guts to pull it through.

So much from me, I am looking forward to your opinions and comments.

I think I'll be sharing the same opinion as yours. Like you said, character development was done in the previous movies; this one should be pure balls to the wall. I also agree that cameos are sufficient for many of the characters; it appeases the fans without bogging the story down and a war is a perfect excuse to have them. I could care less about Angel's or Juggernaut's history (I believe they were both bedwetters); just show me some action this time out.

just got back. no time for proper review...but I thought that was pretty fantastic. far, far better than all the months of *****ing and doubting and naysaying had led me to suspect. it easily stands up to the first two films and makes for a really powerful finale. of course it's flawed, as were the other two. it's not a perfect movie by any means, but it's still bloody good. but the most serious flaw? the thing that left me with a nagging sense of unease and disappointment...?

WHERE IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT'S HOLY, UNHOLY, NEUTRAL AND DOWNRIGHT EEEEEVIL WAS COLOSSUS?!?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, MAN!?!?

but apart from that, I liked it a lot.

I agree, I was waiting for Colossus to just... DO SOMETHING. After seeing the danger room clip already I felt dissapointed with his role. I laughed at him carrying the tv, but c'mon! Colossus vs Juggs. :(

I know...he got maybe four or five seconds of screentime in the final battle. a character that powerful and visually striking and they decide not to use him? that's just a damn waste. whoever made that decision, GOD DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!! MAY PITRAVENS FEAST ON YOUR LUSCIOUS, WOBBLY, SHINY BITS!!!

but apart from that, I liked it a lot.

:)

Colossus is a HUGE disappointment. By the sounds of it... I can't wait for the DVD.

common guys in the last scene without colossus's fastball special it wasn't possible to get magneto :P you see TEAM WORK! storm makes some fog for covering then colossus makes fastball, wolverine distract magneto and then beast gives magneto the cure and iceman is fighting against pyro.

The audience today clapped. They laughed and loved the movie.

Alot of people ( including me , cause I havent seen the "end" scene ) waited for the credits to go.

Some significant changes between my screening and the version I saw 30 minutes ago. The movie started at 21:30 and ended at 23:45. With a brake of 10~15 minutes.

Yes , you got that right. Just below two hours. ( 118 minutes )

- Sentinel leg removed , instead the showed its head and shoulders through a thick layer of smoke ( The lights it emitted were a soft-orange glow ). The head also looked different ( texture wise ) and the loud "Thud" was replaced with something more realistic. Also , Wolverine screams when he gets thrown up in the air. You also hear the "rest" of the Sentinel falling on the floor and Wolverine moaning when he lands.
- Colossus metal-up sounds everytime he does it.
- Storm flushes Magneto's army away.
- Dialogue changed when Ororo , McCoy Logan and Xavier talk about the cure. Also a close-up of Beast I havent seen during my screening.
- Magneto's speech in the church was changed , it no longer contained the : "The only question you must answer : Who will you stand with?" changed into : "Who will you stand with when this massacre is upon us?"
- Xavier mentioning to Logan : "Have you found Scott yet?" with Logan answering : "No ... only this *shows glasses*" then they continue to have a small *****-fight about the mental blocks Jean has.
- The ending battle did not have Colossus vs Juggernaut instead they showed Colossus preparing to stop Juggernaut ... he got infront of Wolverine but nothing happened afterwards.
- Small changes of dialogue during the Angel Curing scene.
- Small added footage of Magneto "smiling" when he moves the King

Here's a small update of what we should expect once it hits on DVD :

- Colossus vs Juggernaut scene added during the end-battle
--- It was cut because of time constraints. Because Colossus had alot of action against Juggernaut the studios decided to completely do it CGI wise ( with the actors ofcourse ) but it took too much time. They cut the scene and saved it for the DVD version.
- The "She might not come home" speech by Wolverine added
--- There was no time or purpose to put this into the final version. It made sense that they "stood together"
- Added scene of the CGI Wolverine "sliding" down the back of the Sentinel.
--- Again it took too much time and that was something Fox didnt have.
- Added scene of Kavito Rhoa expressing her doubts of the Cure.
---
Kavito Rao : "The cure seems flawless Warren ... but there are signs of..."
Warren : "Signs of what? This is the only chance we got to save us humans against the growing threats of ... mutants. Before you know it will become an endangered species!"

- The Phoenix Firebirds shown once Jean starts to disintegrate people
--- It was removed because it didn't fit into the real-world. Rumor has it that it might be put on the DVD 2-DISC version.

Again this information I've obtained is unconfirmed. My source will get more information in the coming months.

Dear X-fans

May i start by saying that i dont think i have ever anticipated a movie as much as i have x3 - the past year has been thrilling and i have been excited about every still, every plot detail and every cast and crew interview that we have been expised to. I just saw the film at one of the biggest cinemas in london and i have to say that it was a really good film, however, i do believe that with a few tweaks it could have been great. the story was solid and the two main plots ran in parallel effortlessly. Halle Berry has proven herself as Storm in ways in which some naysayers never thought was possible. My only gripe is that in a lot of the scenes it felt as if they had cut out moments which would have made it more solid and more akin to the moments in x1 and x2 which contributed to the series that we love so much. my favourite scene was the mystique interrogation and holding scene - Rebecca embodies everything about mystique that we have come to expect and instead of the comics informing the movies i think the opposite should be true in this case.

i definitley think that the phoenix was everything she should be except it would have been great to have the flam in as the scary ombified version does not live up to the whole "ruled by pleasure and rage" aspect. kitty was great although she could have been expanded on.

Ian McKellan is a great actor and his magneto is both honourable and ruthless, the former being true when he speaks of Charles to Pyro. Cyclops actually had a better chance to shine in this film than he did in any other. he wasnt wooden and he actually served a purpose (to show us that this new jean aint what she used to be). i like the fact that the real jean was the one who was meant to be with scott and her phoenix side was probably what drove her attraction to logan. Kelsey Grammar was born to play Beast period.

I definitley think that there should be another film and there are so many questions left to be answered, however, i think the professor x resurrection and magneto comeback should come after - let the x-men stand by themselves and give them those moments they had in the first two to shine and make us fall in love with them all over again.

In conclusion, i think the movie was a solid addition to the franchise and i intend to see it again on the big screen and purchase it on dvd, but i also await an extended cut which expands on the theatrical cut to make it the last stand that the first x-men trilogy deserves.

my rating is a solid 7 out of 10

although it is fairly null at this point, feel free to ask any questions...

i still think there were some phoenix bits, i said on another thread this

I noticed a bird like screech at one point, apparently the glass formed at jeans house was phoenix shaped and at the end, it may have just been the lighting but i thought her hair almost looked on fire, and one last thing, at times jean face looked a litte bird shaped, might have just been me. There were deffinatly some bits of phoenix in there!

overall, despite the negativity, awesome, loved it, almost on par with x2 in my opinion! a worthy chapter in the x-men saga

Some iconic moments.

Jean transformation into the Phoenix
*
Xavier's empty wheelchair
*
Storm & Wolverine mourning

The Last Stand

loved it, dont mean to dis the singer man but it just had it you know that summer movie feel, had 11 kids with me as a birthday treat and everyone of them loved it, okay they chuckled a bit with the love scenes and semi nude scenes but all in all they loved it, it was something new and different, it gave you that feeling of dread that a mutant that powerful could actually inflict that power on the rest of the world, it would leave the humans in shame, leaving the likes of magneto and xavier less powerful, but in the past movies these 2 were gods amongst ther kind, anyway enough from me if you have kids or not go and see this movie its a joy, bret's the man.

I just came back from seeing it, for anyone interested, here are my thoughts:

The two openingscenes were very interesting, I remember reading about them in the AICN scriptreview and looking forward to those the most.
In my opinion, the Angel scene was the most effective, while I think they could've done a bit more with the Jean scene.
I was kinda hoping to see a broken and confused young girl, because she witnessed, and partially experienced the death of a friend. Too bad they didn't include that part of Jean's backstory, it would've added much to her character.
Ian and Patrick looked great though, didn't look like an effect at all.
Also, Xavier telepathically saying to Jean that reading Magneto's mind without asking permission was great too.

After the openingcredits, of which I was glad to see at least kept in line with the previous two, coming straight into the Danger Room was a nice way to reintroduce the characters. But I do think they new(er) characters weren't introduced good enough: you never learn why they joined the team, this goes especially for Kitty.
As much fun as it was, the scene feels quite rushed. Rogue metalling up was great to see, but it just happens, and she hardly does something with it.
The clip Jackman showed on Leno was said to be cut together to show Hugh's beats, but it's in the movie in almost the exact same form.

The following scenes all felt pretty rushed, and as I am typing this, I can hardly remember anything from them: few things really stood out.
The little flashback Scott had of Jean dying were great though. Despite having a really small part, James really conveyed how broken Cyclops was.

The scene in which Xavier teaches class was a little too obvious hinting at things to come, and Moira's cameo really felt tacked on for no reason (save for the scene after the credits, of course).

Angel's (re)introduction was great. Ben Foster did a great job, it's too bad he had so little to do. When he walked into the mansion, it felt so random, and I had almost forgotten about him. Also, him saving his father in the end, was a bit of an anticlimax.

Magneto busting out the captured mutants was a great scene, though any motivation from Juggernaut and Multiple Man was missing: "I'm in", that's all. His introduction did make the audience laugh though: Mystique says he robbed seven banks, than the cell opens, and Jamie starts multiplying, she adds "at the same time".
What I thought was funny was Pyro commenting on Juggernaut's helmet, he does have a thing for helmets, doesn't he?
Mystique being cured, and the way Magneto just left her was sad to see. Poor Mystique :(

The scene at Alkali Lake was short but powerful. I am still pissed they killed Cyclops off, but there's nothing we can do about it. Phoenix rising looked cool.
I'm kinda mixed on Phoenix. She was heardly used, though she did have some great scenes. The scene with Logan was great, especially when Logan asked about Scott, and she lost all control.
I didn't really like how the concept of Jean and Phoenix was introduced into the story: the things Xavier mentioned, like Jean having a split personality, and the mental blocks he put in her mind, all feel just dragged in. They could've introduced these concepts into the scene in the beginning which explored Jean's origins.
As for calling her Phoenix, that sounds more like something Magneto would say: "What is your real name, John?". He could refer to Jean as a Phoenix for rising from the death, more powerful than ever.

The demoleculerization of Xavier was pretty creepy and I really felt for the professor here. The whole scene was pretty impressive: the entire house levitating, and stuff flying all over the room. People did chuckle though, when Logan and Storm cried over Xavier's death.
The rest of the battle at Jean's house was hardly impressive. Wolverine seemed to attack for no reason, and even before the Brotherhood laid a finger on any of them, Storm was already in the air, spinning like crazy.

Storm's eulogy at Xavier's funeral was quite powerful, in my opinion. It sounded very realistic, the way she uncontrollably blurted out her words between her sobs.

Wolverine going after Jean was great. I particularly enjoyed his fight with "Spyke", because I really liked that character and his powers in the Evoltuions cartoons.
Magneto throwing him around, and saying he could recognize the smell of his adamantium from a mile was cool too.

The whole movie felt rushed, and even before I knew it, the ending was already there. Magneto trashing the Golden Gate bridge was impressive, and the whole theatre laughed when the woman in the car locked her door.

The final battle felt short, and "anticlimax" is a good word to describe the individual fights: Pyro vs Iceman was short, and to see Iceman iceup just to have him headbutt Pyro was a bit of a waste. The effects were cool though (pun intended :p).
Same with Storm vs Callisto; they exchanged a couple fo blows, and then Callisto gets barbequed. Nice touch was seeing her piecing glowing and smoking.
Also, Magneto being cured as casually as it happened didn't feel right. He's been the main antagonist of this trilogy, but he kinda goes out easily. I would've expected to see more rage from him too; he "degenerated" into something he hates the most. But than again, without his powers, he's just on old guy.

What I did enjoy about the final battle was the way the X Men appeared into it, all using their own power, which felt very comicy.
The last part of the battle was the best, when Jean finally got to really use her powers, and starts ripping everything around her apart. It looked intense, and the effects work was great.
Too bad we didn't get to see the Phoenix effect; the fiery face did look creepy, but come one...we want the firebird! :p

The endings were all okay. It was nice to see that at least Jean and Cyclops were burried next to each other.
I did hate to see Rogue cured. It was sad to see her part was that small, while her character would've been the most interesting to watch progress with this movie's plot. It also betrays what these movie stand for.

On the whole, I like this movie, but am not as enthusiastic about it as I was about X2. For me, it doesn't really feel like a sequel to the other two. I watched those on tuesday and wednesday, and when watching X2, I definetely felt the connection between that one and X1.
I didn't feel this with X3. To me, it felt more comicy than the first two did, which is both a pro and a con.
I will always think of this movie as a missed opportunity, and what could have been. I'd give it a 3, maybe 3,5 out of 5.

What's this about Xavier being "sort of" back?

Was there something I missed in the ending, or something after the credits?

- The Phoenix Firebirds shown once Jean starts to disintegrate people --- It was removed because it didn't fit into the real-world. Rumor has it that it might be put on the DVD 2-DISC version.Again this information I've obtained is unconfirmed. My source will get more information in the coming months.

I hope you're right on that one. Xavier does say that her 'other side' is called The Phoenix, but he never explains why and she never does anything to show why...

@wolverini: I hope ur right.... or im gonna make my own firebird, make it real and use it to burn FOX ... yeah..."the FOX".

I kid I kid :p

Call me weird, but I usually go to that site to see their movie ratings and reviews rather than RottenTomatoes. Looks real good so far.

Just got back from the movie...

Good movie but not as good as I wanted it to be, and not as good as X2.

The major problem of the movie is, it's really way too short and feels
so rushed. Many new characters have been introduced just for the sake of it which is kinda disrespectful. Some characters who were expected/anounced to have more screen time this time around
were basically cameo's. Just look at Colossus..what the hell?

The whole DR/Sentinel-scene was so lame... how long was it? just 1 minute or something? You see a few secs of x-men running around, wolverine jumping on a so called sentinel and that's it! Ratner said many times that he was really proud that he was able to put the danger room / sentinels in this movie... if you ask me he could've left it out.

Btw...Cykes lives! I don't understand why everybody is so pissed because of Cykes faith... I can understand that many people assume he is dead but you really don't see him die. No damage, no blood, no body... I personally assume he is just been blown away by Jean into the forest and lies there unconscious. Jean might think she killed him but she's just confused...that's it. Imo, Cyclops just lives and he can be brought back in a possible X4!

The final battle...

It was announced as the war to end all wars and Simon made a couple of times the comparison with the battle in LOTR ROTK! You just gotta be kidding me...

Anyway, like I said it's a good enjoyable movie but X2 was much better... especially in terms of story and character development..

7/10

Yea, but most haven't.

By the time that most have, over the course of the weekend, this thread is gonna be a cluster ****, just so there's that one "official" thread.

I hate "official" threads. A message board is for discussion. We should be allowed to discuss our views and opinions openly, not have them confined to an "official" thread, where there is so much going on that comprehensive conversation is impossible.
Official threads are created mainly to avoid having 40 threads about the same subject on the first page alone.

Ok, i saw saw it and all i can say is, is the worst of the trilogy.
That doesn´t means it´s a bad movie, but it´s not a great one either.

First mistake, they wanted to tell to much in one movie, and ended with a very disorganized movie in their hands.
Dark Phoenix Saga...yes, it was there, but very poorly done. She turned into Phoenix, basically, for two reasons, to kill a bunch of people (including Scott ans Xavier) and to die at the end, that´s it, there wasn´t any other reason.
And Cyclops...talk about the most ridiculous cameo (yes, it was a cameo) in the comic book movie history
Xavier, i had never seen the arrogant face of the professor before..and it sucked.
Angel...well, the less i talk about him, the best. He was there just to save his father, how lovely. Not only was Ben Foster wrong for the part (sure, he was blond...), the wings were just too big for him (which made me laugh, because, in the scene where he escapes his father, right before he jumps out the window, when he unfolds his wings, you will notice that he doesn´t closes them, or tries to, not because he was ready to jump, but, because if he did, the wings would be wiping the floor).

But the worst of the movie was Magneto.
For the first time, i couldn´t stand Sir Ian Mckellen.
Long lost was the honorable villain, but, in his place, the crazy old man.
From turning his back to Mystique, when she became human, to letting a lot of mutants go to "die", we had it all, and all were just out of character.
Eric Lensherr, the real Eric Lensherr, would never do any of that.
And what about the Golden Gate Bridge scene.....
That was just stupid...not cool, but rather dumb, IMO.
I´t was pure pretentious show off, nothing more, nothing less, without any point to it, but to escape when Jean lost it.
And the begining of the movie, with the younger Eric and Xavier...wasn´t they supposed to be friends? Almost brothers? Because they didn´t gave that idea for one minute, they were just bickering, and Eric was just arrogant and annoying.
Oh yeah, JUggernaut was not that good either

So, what really worked, IMO?
Beast and Iceman.
Wolverine and Storm were not that bad either.
Kitty came out well, but there wasn´t much to work with, and Rogue was just forgettable.
Colussos...i prefered the 2 minutes scene in X2.

All in all, i give it a 6 out of 10, and that is looking at the movie as an all.
