Should Superman be the sole survivor of Krypton?

I never really cared if he was the last survivor or not. It makes sense that some kryptonians would survive somehow.

Back when MOS was the origin, it made perfect sense why Superman was the only Kryptonian flying around (their cloning wars resulting in insane xenophobia and sterile nature). Their history was rich in scope and scale and gave the idea of Superman being the sole survivor an epic reason for being so. It was completely out of the question in their society to start exploring other planets.

Of course, now that we've seen an entire fleet of Kryptonian ships in the "Up, Up, and Away!" arc (assuming those details are even in continuity anymore ), it's hard to imagine that there aren't a zillion some odd Kryptonian colonies out there.

You know, I can tolerate a few Kryptonians. Pretty much just Superman, Supergirl, Power Girl being an Earth-2 Kryptonian, and the Phantom Zone criminals (Zod is awesome). But they are kinda going overboard with Chris Kent and the third mysterious Kryptonian.

I think the origin should be that Krypton was just so totally frickin' sweet that nobody ever wanted to leave.

Like they should have a bunch of Kryptonians just lying around on a beach being like "Hey you know what's so totally great about Krypton being so perfect in every conceivable way that none of us would ever bother trying to go anywhere else? Is the fact that it's gonna continue to be so unbelievably fantastic forev-" *PLANETSPLODE!!!*

You know Power Girl is also technically Kryptonian.

Hell, she's practically three Kryptonians.

I think he should have been the only one as was originally intended. The fact he is not unique takes allot of what made him what he was.

Instead of other kryptonians just use races laike that of Mon-El's.

i agree. from what i know (Pre Crisis anyway), Superman is really the Last Son of Krypton, Supergirl was is also Kryptonian but from another place called Argos (sp?).

btw, i dont know which i find more perverted: Superman not knowing he knocked up Lois and dissapeared for 5 years while she raised their son on her own, or Superman and Lois adopting their enemies' Kryptonian son (and from the looks of things) wouldnt be returning him back.

No, there's absolutely no reason to limit the Kryptonian population to one character and a few villians. What they did in the Silver Age worked best.

See heres the problem with having so many kryptonians. They come to earth and they all become gods. I mean had they put in a rule where superman was special then we wouldnt have the issue where a more hands on kryptonian could simply over power him.

And how advanced in Krypton? Does everyone just stay on the planet? Did they never explore any other place?

To me its kind of hard to compare a technology advanced planet to earth. Plus there is the logic that someone could survive Earth from exploding, how long they survived is the next question. We have these things called rockets and a space team could be up in space while Earth explodes and could survive.

I mean like how they did in S:TAS where they had Superman the only survivor of Krypton should that be the case in the comics? I kind of liked the idea of Superman being the only person to survive Kryptons explosion besides the people trapped in the Phantom Zone.

It certainly takes away from Superman that is no longer the lone survivor. I liked the fact that while Earth is his adopted home with all of the people the he loves, there is still a certain loneliness as the sole Kryptonian in the Universe.

DC really F'up with this. But I guess its hard to not milk the cow dry.

And then a group of Kryptonians would be so far out from their own world, that it becomes a legend. They establish a colony, invent self thinking robots who rebel, and destroy their world, forcing them to track home to the legendary planet of Krypton.

And then they make it back to Krypton, but everything's rainbow-colored and their people have evolved icons on their unnaturally bulbous bellies that reflect their personality and give them weird powers.

Unfortunately, their bluish neighbors to the south want their land, and so they invade with their tiny forms, and magical chemicals and the Kryptonians just so happen to be there, and are caught in the middle of war.
