This is me being a Superman newb, but I've always wondered why he's always had to fight in his costume? I mean, I understand the whole secret identity of Clark Kent and everything, but the way they're making this movie seem, the villain is going to seemingly attack out of nowhere.

I mean, since Superman is supposed to be an older Superman and "already around the block" a few times, does his secret identity really even matter anymore? I mean, if he's not close to Lois in this movie, or anyone for that matter, it really shouldn't.

I'm not saying that he should pull a Tony Stark and say "I am Superman and I fly high in the sky" or anything - but I just don't think he should keep his identity on the downlow anymore.

naked supes fighting!!!

braniac attacks him while in the shower

If his secret identity were to be revealed, every villain would attack the Daily Planet, his home, and maybe his parents. You can't say someone like Lex Luthor or Brainiac wouldn't search every database in the world to learn everything about Clark Kent.

Sure, why not?

This movie isn't going to have any tie-downs to previous films, and it's a more modern take on him. Who knows what Nolan & Goyer have planned?

Don't really see a reason for him to. People are paying to see the guy in the suit kick butt.

If he is jumped on the street by some thugs & doesn't have time to change into his suit then yes that would be the only exception.

I think he should just fight naked. That's what I do.

sure, just call him superclark.

Is the info about Superman being established new or something you read awhile ago?

Sure why not show him fight in regular clothes. But it has to be something like a robot he can destroy and away from any onlookers.

Im not too knowledgeable about the comics but Clark being Superman should only be known to his parents, Lois, and JL members. No way should the general public know.

Superman is a hero we look up to. He's THE hero. When you see his iconic image you imagine the world is a better place. That emblem is a symbol and symbols are inspiration come to life. Made real. Superman is the image of making the world a better place. A three dimensional essence of hope.

He's not some naked guy on youtube.

:supes: :supes: :supes:

Quite frankly, I'm sick of seeing Supes fight super people without the costume from 10 years of f**king Smallville. If he's gonna start off established, then he better have the suit. IF this is an origin, then his first big feat could be in plain clothes. Like, I don't know, saving a bus going off a bridge or monorail crash or something, but he should be wearing it by the end.

I get what youre saying, but uh Im not sure it needed to be said in this thread. Lol.

Seriously though, if Superman were to engage someone like Darkseid completely nude and screaming incoherently, hed probably have like 5 seconds of Darkseid screaming WTF IS GOING ON?!?! so there'd be an advantage to doing things in the buff.

Bah, I'm sure over the millenia that Darksied has been fighting those *****e bags from New Genesis, at some point Orion pulled that trick outta his ass. He is the Dog of War after all....so no, I'm sure a naked Supes wouldn't throw him off in the slightest.

Really?

You are being too influenced from Ironman, who then influenced SV to have the GA announce his indentity in the same way... Followed by hints of Clark being more open.

Just ignore other heroes and their interpretations and let Superman be Superman.

I think Superman should finally lose his blue and red suit and just fight in civilian close.

He should fight in a hot dog uniform... a true symbol of American obesity...

In a word? NO. The suit comes with the territory. If I wanted to watch a super-powered battle without the suit I'd go watch the third Matrix. The secret identity is part of the whole package. Parts of the mythos like that need not be screwed with to make a good or even decent story. Any Abrams (first draft) or Burton caliber tinkering defeats the purpose of actually watching a Superman film. I don't think I'll have too many people disagree with me that it would be lame to no end to go watch Clarkman get in a fight with somebody.

Well, the costumeless Spiderman (Peter Parker that is) vs Surfer Goblin fight didn't hurt Spiderman 3. I mean, that was one of the few things that didn't.

Lol. I understand that, even when I have to admit I couldn't watch more than one episode and a half of that series.

If Superman fights without his costume, it should only be before he's made the decision to become Superman, probably when he's still traveling around the world as a journalist.

I don't think Superman should fight without his costume.
