Doubtful, cant see why people say this. People overexagerrate the small things they have/will have in common.

The idea of the scientist mentor who is good turned bad was done not only with Ock but Green Goblin as well. They are friends so they aren't really enemies. They are pretty similar which why I think Raimi went with Sandman , Goblin and Vulture originally for Spiderman 3. I want the Lizard but comparisons will be drawn like it or not. Hopefully if the script is good it won't matter.
