Should they make another Punisher movie?

To me the song "Psycho Man" by Black Sabbath says it all:

The midnight hour aproaches
The killing chill takes over him
His victms will not know when he appears
The lust of deaths possesion
Will overtake his psycho mind
He won't be happy 'till he smells the fear

He's the angel of death - Psycho man, psycho man
Looking for a victim wherever he can
He's the angel of death - Psycho man, psycho man
He's the killer!

Addicted to the madness
The taste of death that lives within
He loves it when he takes their final breath
Stalking gives him pleasure
Killing is the final act
He takes no pity with his lust for death

He's the angel of death - Psycho man, psycho man
Looking for a victm whenever he can
He's the angel of death - Psycho man, psycho man
He's the killer!

Playing in his twilight zone
He knows that he's the best
Creeping through the streets alone
'Till he finds his victims next
Killing gives him pleasure
Sleeping gives him pain
The only time he's feeling good
Is when he's killed and killed again

When he's killed again

Whatch out!

He's the angel of death, angel of death
He's the angel of death, angel of death
Psycho man, psycho man
Looking for a victim wherever he can
Psycho man, psycho man
He's the killer!

i didnt say everyone hated him, I love him as a character, hell if i had Marine training and stuff and had nothing to live for id die trying to do what he does...but we're a small sect. To the GA the Punisher is just a normal guy who kills people.

In the Max series it even touches upon this that he only feels good when he mows down mobsters, criminals etc. He is a KILLER but he is on OUR side.
true
Yes?

PWZ Domestic total gross:
$8,050,977:doh:
that doesnt mean its dead, the first one wasnt that great and iirc, dolph's punisher was also dtv and i think made less then warzone?

it dont mean the franchise is dead, it jsut means we may have to wait awhile for the next one

It's nice that your still hopeful of another movie. But the cards are certainly not in the characters favor.
-After two movies that didn't do well for Lionsgate unless they make another the rights return to Marvel/Disney
-Disney has already expressed disinterest in making R-rated Marvel movies
-Disney has already made a decision to only make big tent pole films with Marvel characters
-Disney only wants to use the characters that can reach beyond just movies into, cartoons, toys, video games, and other such things like party supplies something that the Punisher isn't really suited for unless toned down to a pg-13 level
As this moment of time I think Sleepwalker and Super-pro have a better chance at getting movies at Disney than the Punisher.

im not saiyin things look good, but its not dead yet

maybe jsane jsut needs to call up lionsgate and get them on for another with him as lead and director *shrugs*

It kinda does, the 2004 film made over $50 million + apparently big DVD sales. The 1989 film, well there's no real knowing how much that movie made, it was released theatrically over seas though. PWZ did worse than Howard the Duck and the DVD sales apparently weren't that good either. The franchise is pretty much dead for the next couple of years. But who knows weird **** can happen.

-The 2004 film did make money, it didn't set the box office ablaze, but Lionsgate suffered no real loss.

-Well, Marvel actually expressed the disinterest in makking R-rated films before Disney bought them. Disney does own Touchstone Pictures, so if the inclination is there to do it, a more mature themed Punisher film can be made. Also, Ant-Man is getting made, and that doesn't seem like it'll be a giant tent pole film.

Maybe not anytime soon, but they will make another one. It's inevitable.. :(

i dont understand Marvel's stance on not making R themed movies based on some of their darker characters. Blade was R and it did damn good.

You gotta think how many of their characters (that deserve films) need to be R rated. Not many, and I think Ghost Rider could work just as well PG-13 as it would R. That said, Marvel has said they actually would do R rated movies, only they wouldn't be done through Marvel Studios directly, then again this was before Disney bought them. So who knows what their current stance on this is.

Well if its a hard PG 13 i could buy alot of their darker characters so it pretty much just boils down to The Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider as the most violent ones?

It still baffles me that out of all the Marvel characters out there, they've managed to screw this one up every time. Making a Punisher movie should be easy as hell compared to some of these other superhero characters. Hell, Charles Bronson made about 20 movies in the 70s that were better Punisher films than any of this crap.

3 Strikes. He's out.

that being said, I liked 04 Punisher.

On the plus side, with an incredibly-low B.O. for Punisher: War Zone, a non-release of the Punisher 89, and the fact that the Punisher 2004 movie was pretty under-the-radar too means that in the mainstream, most don't really know about him.

Hulk 2003 was hugely-promoted, and everyone knew/knows about it. Punisher kind of snuck away with making a few bad movies. I think he has at least one more shot to get it right!

The more I see it the more I liked 04 Punisher. I was upset they didn't do a sequel bur I'd love to see HBO or Showtime do a show that's a continuation of the 04 Punisher with Thomas Jane.

I definitely wouldn't mind it, but I think it's unlikely. At least not for a long time.

i actually liked all the punisher movies, cept 89, i didnt get much chance to wathc it cuz everyone else was making noise and walking infront of the tv

but 04 is my favorite

I think the problem with The Punisher is he just doesn't stick out that much from other Crime Drama movies... It's a normal guy with no powers not in a costume, wearing a Skull t-shirt. Just my opinion. I would love to see another Punisher film though. I don't think it will happen unless it's PG-13. I'd love to see him in the Noir costume. Him wearing the skull mask just screams awesome IMO. My opinion is probably a lot different from most though.

What if they do decide down the road to make another Punisher film, but it's PG-13? How would most Punisher fans feel about this?
