Should they make another Punisher movie?

I'd love to see a animated DTV adaptation of the "Hearts of Darkness" storyline. It featured The Punisher, Ghost Rider, and Wolverine vs. Blackheart.

I think they should make another one and just get another director to direct it. I think the latest movie suffered from bad story and crappy character devolpment(plus overboard violence). Though I think the franchise is dead, unless someone else takes it.

nocomics, While I get you did not like...Punisher: War Zone, it is the part about the violence being too over the top that I do not understand. Lexi Alexander is the first director to make a...Punisher film, that was properly ultraviolent. The Punisher kills all criminals, with knives, grenades, he pushes guys off buildings, the filmmakers finally understood the level of graphic violence needed in a film about Marvel Comics' Frank Castle. Ray Stevenson was perfect as The Punisher, and the only things I would change is that I would give, Castle his Battlevan, as well as some street level supervillains for him to fight, like the Tarantula or even Hammerhead and The Maggia, with silvermane and Man Mountain Marko. PWZ was also the first Punisher film, where Castle had his kevlar body armor emblazoned with his trademark, Death Head Skull. I also enjoyed the fact that Castle doesn't throw away his small arms after running out of ammo, that he just places them back in his holsters. If Marvel ever regains the rights to...The Punisher, and even if they made it PG 13, I would return his supersuit from the 80's complete with white boots and gloves. Then he could fight some of the more prominant Marvel villains at least.

Warzone was a accurate representation of the MAX comics. I still maintai that Punisher fails box office wise because his whole story is just pure cliche, it has been done to death.

Thats Why We Need Ennis to Write the Script, and Put a Whole New Prospective on It.

You could say that about a lot of things. Anyways, if they can't make the Punisher an interesting character, you can do the next best thing and make the villains and everyone around him interesting. In fact, that's what they often do in the MAX lineup.

Hey I'm not saying it can't be done. I want it to be done. But it will take something special.

The plot of the PS2/X-Box/PC Punisher video game would work well for a movie translation. While I enjoyed the three current live-action films, I feel outside of the comics that game is the best representation of The Punisher in another medium, and it shows how much of a difference it makes when Ennis is involved and writing the character.

You do realize all that would be impossible, because Lion's Gate does not have the rights to those characters. Even if Marvel got the rights back, Sony owns all those villains you mention.

Not mention most of the non Max Punisher stories sucked.

Let's come back to Earth. When heads explode in MAX, it is because Frank Castle has killed someone. It is to show the horror of what this man does, and often, the sick humor, of the moment from Castle's perspective. It is not because there's some amazing, plot and character-driven reason for it to happen. It's there for the same basic gratuitous reasons it was there in the film. Horror, and to show Castle's perspective on what he does. The only real difference between the exploding heads in WAR ZONE and the ones in MAX was that Alexander filmed them in a slightly more comedic manner (and I do mean slightly). But that's half down to the difference of seeing something drawn and seeing something happen onscreen.

In the comic book world, he's unique and different. But in the movie world, what separates him from the numerous direct-to-video revenge movies that plague video shelfs each week? What makes the Punisher's story unique? Nothing. Just that he wears a black skull T-shirt

This is why another Punisher movie would be a waste of time. With all the characters in Marvel that could do amazing things, why spend time making a film about a guy who shoots people with a black skull t-shirt? I'm not a Punisher fan, but I'm not trying to bash him either. What about Punisher would be so great on screen to draw in a casual audience? I liked Warzone, but it's not something I'm dying to see a sequel from. There are way too many Marvel characters that would sell well in addition to being more compelling than the Punisher. If you want to do something low budget, then do a film based on Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Luke Cage, etc. The casual audience would at least see something different there as opposed to another shoot out movie with the hero dressed in black. The only thing that would sell a Punisher movie right now is a big name actor in the starring role, but why would you waste that big name on Punisher when you could use it to go towards something better?

I can understand those points, but what I want out of a Punisher film is just a quality urban crime film, the kind you don't really see anymore. It's nothing new, but if there are quality performances and direction and a really good script who cares if it doesn't reinvent the wheel, just that it's a good movie.

What it really comes down is if Lionsgate wants to hold on to the rights, and in 4 years or so we'll find out.

yes, they should make as many Punisher films as needed

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 we got so far, so another couldn't hurt

If We Could Get a Punisher Film Staring Tom Jane, Directed By Martin Scorsese and Written By Scorsese and Ennis, I Could Die Happy.

As I Said Before I Think We Need someone That Can Bring a New Prospective on the Whole Ex soldier/ Revenge Movie.

Or Like Grundy Said, something Like a Classic Urban Crime Drama....Something in the Same Vein as Taxi Driver.

Am I insane for thinking Dolph's Punisher was the best all round Punisher flick?

See I really liked the 2004 Punisher movie, and I like Tom Jane as Punisher
but I don't believe they should make another one for a while, Well Lionsgate will make another one is 4 to 5 years from now (cause I believe that is the time table Marvel has set up).

The thing that makes me scratch my head is how hard is it to do a movie about a guy with no powers no fancy bat-suit just a guy running around with a t-shirt and a gun. Hell Criminal Minds on tv has a way smaller budget and they do a great job with those types of stories.

Oh and Gatchmanjp the 2004 Punisher movie had Tom jane wearing a bullet proof vest with the skull on the front of it. So PWZ wasn't the first to put the skull on his body armor.

Someone needs to make a (good) Punisher indie film.

Even if they make another Punisher movie, nobody's gonna watch it so NO they shoudn't make another Punisher movie.
They tried 3 times and they all failed.

I think if they made some smarter choices with the 2004 movie it would've worked out better.

Money launderers and putting it in Florida were death sentences.

I think..they need to make another Punisher film 15-20 years from now.

What about a Punisher movie from the mobs P.O.V instead of Franks?

Have it like a mafia film but with Frank as the villain, but not really a villain you know? He would appear as the antagonist because we are seeing things from the mobs side. I think that could be a interesting way to do it.

The violence in War Zone was definitely done in a comedic manner because the violence in War Zone was.... :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Sounds like an interesting idea and I think a director known for crime films should direct it since crime films include more realistic depiction of violence.

Yea, make it more of a serious crime/mafia film rather than a cartoony cliched revenge film.
