Should they make another Punisher movie?

yeah thats the one i was talking about...good story but horrible portrayal.

It wasn't necessarily his portrayal that sucked. It was the fact that he felt shoe-horned into it. We see this masked big bad scum bag walking around for the first 4 issues only to find out at the end of Issue 4 that it's Jigsaw, and in issue 5, they fight anti-climatically. It could have been Joe Schmoe, Drug Pusher for all I care. I'd go so far to say that Hurwittz used Jigsaw only because Marvel forced him to because War Zone was coming out.

Ennis never used Jigsaw because, if i recall correctly, he either didn't like him for felt that the Punisher doesn't really have a phsycial arch-nemesis. There's no point in Frank pestering Jigsaw like he does. Ennis's Punisher would just blow a large, gaping hole in his chest and leave dead in the woods. Somehow, Ennis was convinced to bring back Barracuda though, and boy, the result of that was outstanding.

Maybe Jason Aaron will use Jigsaw in a better fashion. All of his villains have been ****ed up slime so far.

oh, and out of all of Ennis's MK stuff, Streets of Laredo remains my favorite.

actually this is what i meant but good job pretty much summing up my thoughts on Jigsaw. the MAX series hasnt been the same since Ennis left.

That, and Ennis really isn't a fan of traditional heroes from what I gather, I get the impression he wanted to make Max Frank more realistic and as little cartoon-like as possible.

Yea, atleast the original run wasn't the same. Hurwittz started strong and fizzled out. I skipped the second arc as the art was just terrible(and I hear the story sucked too). Welcome To The Bayou was just great though.

But Jason Aaron's run has been mighty fine. I'm looking forward to the "Frank" arc that starts later this year that goes into Frank's mind, and how he views himself at his age and what he's doing to himself.

The only post-Ennis Max storylines I've read were Girls In White Dresses, Six Hours To Kill and Welcome To The Bayou. GIWD storywise was good but the artwork left much to be desired. Didn't care for SHTK, which felt like a generic Action tale with The Punisher thrown into it, but WTTB was surprisingly great and almost on par with some of Ennis' work.

The only real Marvel Knights Punisher I've read has been Welcome Back, Frank. I want to read some of the others, which would be good ones to start out with besides WBF?

The first arc after Welcome Back, Frank is hilariously great. But Streets of Laredo is probably my favorite along with the Vertical Challenge/Aim Low two-parter. Frank and Wolverine...priceless.

I'll see if I can find those. A lot of the MK Punisher titles seem pretty hard to find.

Another reason why I love the soundtrack:

[YT]1FokOOLl70s[/YT]

I was taking guitar lessons not long after the movie came out and I actually taught myself to play that song. It's a really fun song to play.

The 2004 movie had a great score. Added to it's epic feeling to me. I rewatched the 2004 EC earlier actually, the movie still holds up.

I'll get the Omnibus some day, even with it's mammoth price, it's probably cheaper than getting just a few of the MK titles on their own.

I have a question

Would you prefer for Frank's psyche to be more like Punisher: Born in that he has a darkness in him, a voice really, that comes to prominence in violent situations
or
would you prefer for him to be more like Charles Bronson's character in death wish as a normal guy who just gets pushed over the edge?

i prefer the MAX portrayal of the Punisher. He's always had the vengeful spirit from his days as a kid and it was finally released during Vietnam. After his family died it engulfed him and he lost himself to it. i love that angle.

While Born is interesting, the one thing that made me a little uncomfortable is that Frank may have unsuspectingly sacrificed his family. For me it changes that "bad decision/ randomness of life that can result in chaos" approach. I don't know, that's just me really.

I get where you are coming from but it doesnt bother me too much...

for me it wasnt about the randomness or his decision to go to the part that way...what pushed him over the edge was the inadequacy of the law and how there was no justice for what happened to Frank

Most MAX is WAY too over the top for my tastes. Its such a shame because I love the stories it tells but saying **** in EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE gets REALLY annoying REALLY fast.

I think MAX comics are closer to real life when it comes to dialouge then your regular comics... Just like R rated movies. People swear... and just to add, Punisher MAX was written by a Irishman. A people known for their... language skills. :p

this is when I'm proud to be at least part irish lol

yeah if you take time the time to listen to people you realize people curse A LOT.

Yes I know that people swear in real life, but they dont do it in every sentence. The profanity in MAX is extremely ridiculous IMO which is my only regret for reading it. But the art and story is told so well that the only thing to do is accept it.
