Should they make another Punisher movie?

I was so sad that the Russian didn't talk in the movie at all. I can understand they didn't want to make him campy, but SOMETHING would have been nice; he came off as a dime a dozen nigh invulnerable thug only with a taste for funny shirts. That was one of my few complaints about the 04 film.

Im just saying there was no indication that Castle had those incredible skills early in the film and then in the climax that they seemed to come out at once. I just wouldve liked some indication of his skills whether that be a mention by a colleague or a scene set during his time in the military. Show his skills early was all I was saying, but it seems that some ignore that

Wait a minute....
There was a scene where Dave and Bumpo are somehow able to pull up information on Frank via the net and they are reading off some of his laundry list of credentials. They told you right there how extensive his skills were.
In the comics he is a special forces vet, but in the movie he was that, along with being a veteran FBI undercover agent...he's practically a secret agent. In the talk with his son at the beginning of the film, he makes mention of having to move all of the time. The movie gives you the impression he has PLENTY of skills, more so that the comic book Frank I would say.
So I'm not sure what more you wanted.

I would prefer them to show his skills earlier rather than just telling it.

No they really didnt. They showed him get the crap beaten out of him in 2 various ambushes and then yeah they showed that he was smart. Thats all fine and good, but they didnt show that he was so advanced at Marksmanship to the point he was at during the climax. Or at least I didnt feel they did. It just see

All Im saying is that it would be nice if they showed him in War or being a cop that would show more of his markmanship, hand to hand combat, etc. That was the main point of what I said in the post, not bashing P04. Despite how we feel about hwo well they showed The Punisher skills. I think we can all agree that it would be cool to see Frank show off his skills more. Thats what I really want to discuss, not this did they or didnt they thing

They never showed any of that in Rambo but we accepted that he had those skills. What's the big difference? They never explained why Rambo is such a great shot with a bow and arrow yet it's not questioned, what's the difference? Both ex-military, both based upon literary sources. In fact, Frank has the advantage because he's used his military career and parlayed it into a successful career as an FBI agent.

I guess you wanted a scene with a nice documentary style voice over of someone with a nice British accent saying something to the effect of "Frank is skilled with guns, here he is practicing."

But that's just it, man. They didn't have to show you anything to build up to anything. It's simple logic.

They tell you that Frank Castle was in the Gulf War(the Director's Cut shows you this), they tell you that he was CTU, they show you him as an undercover fed as well as tell you that. They tell you all this stuff that he can do, that he was highly and heavily trained by the U.S. Military in multiple capacities. He was also a highly regarded soldier.

Therefore, it should be readily assumed that he has these skills from the beginning of the movie. From before the movie even starts, he's been trained in hand to hand combat, marksmanship and everything else. He's a soldier. That's what he was trained to do and it's what he excelled at. They don't train you to be alright. They train you to be the best. I don't need to see him gradually build these skills because I already know that he already has them.

:whatever:Now youre just being childish. Are you actually reading my posts? Im saying just show Frank during war or more of him working as a cop as a chance for more action scenes, a good story point.

And with Rambo I didnt really care because...well I didnt take that movie seriously

Read the rest of what I said
1) Im not saying they should take us step by step through Frank's combat life.
2) I'm just saying that it would be a great (maybe opening)action scene to have Frank showing off his skills in some war setting.
3) I dont see why it would be bad to see Frank pre Punisher shooting stuff up for lack of a better term

Ok guys, I don't agree with him, but he's entitled to feel like he wanted more, so fair enough.

That's on the director's cut. Or if you've read the Punisher it's in there, like Born.

But now that you bring up them not showing stuff. I saw him eat a couple times in the movie and not once did they show him take a dump! I'm calling shenanigans, just like you did on the marksmanship thing. LOL.

But really, if you wanted more of the movie that's fine. But I think it was all covered, not in the level of minutia you wanted, but it was covered well enough.

Never saw directors cut. I just think something along the opening scene of Shooter. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (A good potential Punisher director) would be cool. The opening scene is on youtube. THe whole movie is good too

Michael Mann pr Walter Hill. Or go low budget with Scott Mann or Isaac Florentine. I would love to see a couple HK type directors doing it, or some of those guys out of Korea, some amazing action coming out of Asia.

Everytime I think of the Punisher I think of this tune, especially in the comics

To be honest I can understand it. I dont think it was to prevent campiness, but from what I remember The Russian in WBF was talking almost always about other superheroes which wouldnt have worked here because, well, there arent other superheroes.

It's funny, for a comic book film that gets hated on so much, Punisher has the most memorable score out of any of them. It doesn't compare to Superman or Indiana Jones for recognizability, but when I hear it I can immediately place it, unlike Iron Man or Batman Begins or even Danny Elfman's Spider-Man theme.

I thought that was hilarious, even if its possible that he just said that to make him mad because DD and Punisher kinda hate each other haha.

Funny how my two favorites hate each other.

so i was watching War Zone again last night because it was on Showtime and well...its a lot worse than i remember :/

i really do hope they pick up where the 04 left off.

If they do make another one, and they should because Marvel has the rights back and can do it right, I would want to maintain the Vietnam origin and set the movie in the early 70's. And I would appreciate a director who took the material seriously without being afraid of the comic book origins. The director of War Zone claimed she thought the skull was silly and tried to down play it, but at the same time made a movie that was so cartoony and ridiculous. I wouldn't mind getting Tom Jane back, he was awesome and the only thing from the '04 flick worth keeping. And for the love of god, give us a big, bold skull this time.
