The Dark Knight Show Me Your SWAG :)

I know it's just stuff, but, I kind of hate you. It's beautiful. I hope you stared at in awe for a while after you collected it all in one place.

Hey, I never got my Gotham City driver's license, come to think of it....

Hmmm......

haha I hadnt even noticed this conversation going on or I woulda chimed in. I didnt want to tell anyone, especially from the boards, that I was selling the reel at all, because i didnt want a bunch of pissed off people putting bids on the item and skewing a real estimate. I put it on ebay mostly out of pure curiosity as to what someone would pay for it. The bidder knew there were fake bids on it and didnt want to pay full price, offered something like $3750 which gave me a good excuse to say no, and we both backed out on the offer which null and voided all my ebay charges. So I got a quick glance at how much people would pay for such an item.

Now I still have the reel, and my girlfriend and I are keeping, NOT selling it. I am in the process of finding a glass display case large enough to hold it and our 2 joker cards from the Chicago trailer event.

Sorry everyone thought I was a giant dick for this, but I promise I never intended to go through with the sale regardless, I was actually willing to pay the $100+ fees from ebay just to see what would happen with it.

Thanks though to WsS for sticking up for me. Byte, I am sorry to you also. While I understand your being very upset....you traded it to me and I consider it mine now. I do plan on taking good care of it for a very long time, rest assured of that at least. AND had there been a Joker card in there, you would have gotten it back asap, as that was not part of the trade at all. Anyway, sorry about the whole situation, and sorry if people think im a giant dick....but I feel like I just accepted a trade that he offered...didnt even have to ask...thats all. If I had not taken him up on the trade, i garauntee someone else on these boards woulda saw his post and jumped on it.

Pics or It didn't happen

Is that directed towards me? I dont have a display case for it, but if you want proof ill take a pic with me holding the reel with my girlfriend...and a piece of paper with whatever you would like written on it as proof i still have it right now. lol, ill go to the measures necessary to prove i am not lying about this situation

or maybe this will do

h Byte, I am sorry to you also. While I understand your being very upset....you traded it to me and I consider it mine now.

I didn't think you were a dick for selling it, I just kind of thought it was a bad deal. There is no way a ticket to the screening is worth a reel. I'd like to think if Byte was in the same city as I was, and he was that desperate to go that I would have told him to keep the reel and come as my guest as a thank you for getting it on the web so fast.

But hey, you and Byte are both grownups, and you both agreed to the deal. So congrats on getting it and deciding to keep it. You're a very big fan not to sell the thing for the kind of money you could have gotten.

Do you plan on getting a HQ transfer?

Yeah I am definitely planning on putting all my efforts into getting a digital transfer of the film. I saw many posts from other cities where people said on the forums "Hey if you have the New York/London/San Fran/etc film, let me know we can get it digitally transferred!" but apparently no one on the boards in chicago has that ability. I however am surrounded by art schools and museums and plan on talking to anyone I can to get this done for as cheap as possible.

Now THAT is something that should be done, and copies legitimately sold on ebay and here. I would buy one. Hell, I would trade a Gotham Times # 4 for one.

Certainly keep us updated, I know Toronto was close and had a list of a bunch of people willing to help defray costs in exchange for a copy. I know I was on it.

I definitely agree. You get a digital copy of that film, you'll undoubtedly find buyers. I mean, I'd buy one...kind of depending on the price of course, but I'd definitely be interested.

I dont believe Id be into selling copies of such a video unless it cost me a pretty penny to make. i would probably just be uploading it

well if everyone is so interested in seeing it, as much as myself, then i WELCOME any help in locating someone in chicago to help us out. Its not like im going to be walking door to door to actually talk to people, so we'd all be using internet resources to find someone. : ) help will be nice

Hey guys, not trying to stir things up again about the reel, just wanted to throw out a reply to Byte and DontCountToday...

If I came across harsh and hateful in regards to the reel and what I would have hypothetically done with it, I offer my apologies as I didn't intend to.

Sell it, keep it, trade it, display it, do whatever you would like with the reel as it's yours, not mine. I responded in the moment after seeing the thing going for 3 grand on Ebay (which, apparently wasn't for real anyways) and probably should have thought a little more about my response instead of replying in the heat of my fan-boy craze.

Like I said, ultimately what I think doesn't matter and if I offended either of you I apologize. I know I got kinda upset at some names I was called for selling my CFB Bat Mask and I should have thought about that before posting. We all come from different walks, perspectives, financial backgrounds, etc., and I cannot pretend to offer any kind of valid judgment on the motives of others.

So, to wrap up, if I have offended either of you, my apologies. It was not my intention and I let my geeky fandom get the better of me.

Robbie its cool. I probably woulda felt the same way in anyone shoes seein that up on ebay for the first time and knowing byte was upset about it all. Anyway thanks for the response, I appreciate it

well i must say...it appears I was the biggest doofus in all America to think DCT was ACTUALLY selling the Reel. i humbly and shamelessly throw my knutz on the block of humiliation. dude, you could have not blurred my face! lol. i mistook you for the worst of the worst here, and i totally apologize to you. you truly are the best of us in keeping the Reel. protect it with your life!!! besides, i couldn't get it transferred. so i had to give it to someone who really could. plus, i have to admit, the two signed Matrix posters i have, and the Bruce Campbell autographed Evil Dead 2 DVD? some body from this place needed more than me.

Understand on the having to sell and copying and so on, indeed, we all come from different walks of life. I won a £100 gig voucher last week and I love my music and gigs, but currently prediciments means I have to sell it....similar to others with their DK stuff I'd think.

As for swag, over here in the UK I've got no-where near as much as some, but I do have: Two GT, The 3D moving picture of all 3 which is fantastic and I'm getting framed, A Joker Dollar and some TDK postcards that I discovered.

Also found myself a 35mm normal trailer on Ebay for £4! I'm happy with that and I know a lot of people sell the cells....but I can't bring myself to do that yet, I can't cut it up!

:)

You should Jokerize it. I was thinking about doing that.

You know, it had crossed my mind...would take bloody ages to get it similar...BUT...could just go with my own take on it, it'd be easy enough to go along with :)

I also have one of these trailers, and thought about doing something similar. The Captions thread has given me some pretty funny ideas.

You know, the concept of Jokerizing things has changed everything. There is no limit to what can be Jokerized. Now when I see celluloid, I have a strong urge to Jokerize it. Or newspapers.
