Shows that never reached their full potential

I loved the episode they had when MJ came see Peter one morning, and Indy's walking out of his bedroom while putting her blouse on! I was like, "DAMN, Spidey was getting ass!"

I actually watched that episode last night...it was actually nice to see Peter have another love interest aside from MJ. I really think the MTV show was beyond the animated series in tearms of storyline. I liked the MTV version because it actually put the characters in a realistic setting....Peter cares for MJ but it doesn't mean he can't have an interest in someone else, or they can't have an interest in him. It was interesting to see the love triangle because it was so apparent MJ was jealous and that was a new aspect to see with those characters.

It really pisses me off that the show was just dropped after one season. It didn't even get a proper farewell episode and we were left with Peter throwing his costume away....LAME!

There is no reason for them to cancel this show. The animation was AMAZING, the stories were great and the voice acting was top notch...what was the downside??

No, Space Cases went on for 2 seasons. They were just very short seasons, and ran closely together. The second season started on the same episode a dimensional rift threw Catalina into a parallel dimension, and her "imaginary friend" Suzie was revealed to not only be real, but took her place among the crew. Most of season 2 took place on a planet they were stranded on.

aw .... explains why IMDB.com has it listed as ending/canceled after 1 season ...

Are you aware of the amount of fan flaming that scene with Indy got online? I found nothing wrong with it, but apparently at the time, a lot of fans had issues with Peter either: 1). Engaging in pre-marital sex, or 2). Engaging in pre-marital sex with anyone who was not MJ, Gwen Stacy, or maybe Betty Brant.

I actually liked that the MTV show had some realistic tendancies, including triangles, complicated decisions about feelings, and even hints at, gasp, people in college having sex. Criminy, you'd think it was 1950. I don't get any and I didn't have a problem with it.

Neil Patrick Harris was indeed a great Spider-Man. Not sure whether I found him better than Rino Romano (who now voices Batman in THE BATMAN), but he's up there.

FYI, Black Cat actually WAS supposed to appear in the MTV Spider-Man show, instead of Talon. But MTV insisted on certain guest stars, and when Eve was cast, they redesigned and altered her character to fit Eve personally. They really did stifle the hell out of that show, much like Fox Kids, at the time, stifled the hell out of the 90's Spider-Man (little violence or "fighting", trapping people in dimensions instead of dying, etc).

I do wish more "real" rogues had appeared in that show. With a gallery as vast as Spider-Man's, there's little need to create new villians who aren't up to par. I mean, Shakita and Terra-Dax were hardly Harley Quinn's. However, MTV Spider-Man likely had THE COOLEST Kraven the Hunter...ever. Which was great because I am one of the few who actually likes Kraven the Hunter; least the original one. And I agree, the finale was about as depressing as one can get, but it did pin down that the life of Spider-Man is a tragic one. Plus, as an original character, Indy could have been easier to write off. But, it did provide an unpredictable jaw-dropper of a finale.

Yeah I don't know what people's deal was seeing Peter and Indy in that scene....again it's not like college kids don't have sex and with MJ always changing her mind what the hell was he supposed to do? a man has needs you know.

The MTV show also had better action than the 90's toon. People actually got punched, kicked and even beheaded (although it was shown off screen). I also liked that Spider-Man (and his costume) weren't immune to an ass beating or two during the show.

My favorite aspect of the show is undoubtedly the way they animated Spider-Man. That was the best movement I've ever seen from Spider-Man. In the premiere episode with Electro there is a scene where Spider-Man webs a lightpost, spins around it, and then dangles down in his classic "yo-yo" pose....that really impresed the hell out of me and that was only the first episode!

Great show, amazing animation and a great voice cast....I still see no reason why they cancelled the show yet other shows like "Winx Club" are in their second or third season.

Because of the Comics Code of the old days, Peter engaged in mostly "clean" behavior, and I think most fans see, say, a lack of him being intimate on panel as more to do with his character than to do with a code that, at least before the mid to late 80's and into the 90's, wouldn't have endorsed it in a comic. Peter's not a "love'em and leave'em" type, but it's not like he just met Indy at a party and never was gonna call her again. They were sort of dating. MJ had that "friend/not friend" confusion thing and Indy was more obvious. I actually found her more interesting, but maybe that's only because I've had a Peter/MJ dynamic for...my entire life.

I agree, the animation was good if you got used to the style. If done well, 3D animation can capture movements better than 2D animation. Not that I want traditional animation abandoned; just sometimes it can work. Spidey's swinging and spider-like "wall crawling" couldn't be captured well in 2D. And I agree, seeing him actually FIGHT was good. I still grumble "ow!" at that last punch he gave Turbo Jet.

As for "Winx Club", that's not even an American cartoon; like nearly everything on 4kids TV aside for TMNT, it's an import. They call it "Italian Anime", but isn't anime the term for Japanese cartoons? Wouldn't the more accurate term be "an Italian cartoon that borrows from anime"? Oh, well. The point is that it's just another dubbed import, which are cheaper to air than normal shows; you only need to get rights and dub them (and edit), versus actually having to animate them.

As much as I like anime, I've noticed a real decline in quality U.S. cartoons since networks became more dependant on it. We all look back at the 90's and all the shows we had, well, back then there were hardly any anime shows on TV, save for Poke'mon and the clones it spawned. That stuff really hit overkill post 2000. Anime is great stuff and should be used as inspiration to what animation can achieve, NOT an easy way out.

as for the term "italian anime"
maybe the use the word anime loosely

nowhere man
Voyager
x-men animated series

I've been watching X-Men TAS everynight on Toon Disney and as much as I liked that show I'd have to say that it ran it's course. Towards the end it started to get stale and it basically turned into an animated comic book...which for me isn't always a good thing.

:p Yes, I was proud of Peter Parker that day!

Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda

I know it lasted for 5 seasons before they ended the series this past weekend, but the show could've been so much more. A deep-space show about a man who wakes up 300 years in the future and has to re-build society is an excellent premise. The produces just carried it further and further from what it was intended to be, and it became a show about the last savior of the known universe.

I've been watching old videos of the new He-Man series and man I REALLY miss that show. I was a fan of the original He-Man series but I honestly think this surpassed it in every possible way. The animation was awesome and the stories were good (sometimes better than others). My favorite part was that He-Man kicked some SERIOUS ass during the show. In the second part of "The Council of Evil" He-Man takes on Skeletor and his warriors single handedly and wipes the floor with them...I remember watching that and thinking "holy s**t now THAT'S how He-Man should be!".

Damn I REALLY miss this show, especially since we never got to see the Horde.

The State - IMO the best MTV show ever.

Freaks and Geeks

Men Behaving Badly - Maybe a little to raunchy for the time.

Batman Beyond

The Office

Ha ha ha ha......

I remember He-man very well. That was the only toys I had as a kid & I had 95% of them (I never got Snake Mountain). Once upon a time the USA network was playing the old episodes. I outgrew those when I got back to the states & started watching G.I. JOE. That's a show that could've stayed on the air.

Never was a fan of GI JOE, I was always the one person out of my group of friends that actually disliked that show.

Did The Office get cancelled?

I think I can add the contender to this list....I LOVE this show but I don't think it's going to see a second season which is a shame because it's easily the best reality show on TV right now.

I found a website where the name of Teela's father was revealed. It was going to be Fisto.

Are you 100% sure about this? because all the talk I've heard about it made it sound like it was NOT coming back for a second season.

If you're right this is GREAT news. I really like this show a lot, over the course of the show you grow to really like some of these fighters. When they fight I find myself standing up and shouting "hit him!".

I hope you're right.

Don't think it was cancelled, I think the first season was simply 6 episodes, like it's original counterpart. And it looks like it actually has been renewed by NBC, as 3dman27 said.
