Siege Ends The Avengers

They've already done the savage Hulk stuff for like forever. No reason they can't revisit the professor too. He's one of my favorite Hulks.

Same. I love the Savage Hulk, but Professor actually showed some character development for Bruce. But because Savage is so iconic, they had to retcon "you're not crazy anymore" to "you are now crazier than you have ever been." Which irks me. Professor Hulk on The Avengers would be awesome. Professor Hulk being a permanent fixture in the MU would be better.

I'd love that, though it'd be a constant pissing match between him, Stark and Pym over who's the greatest supergeniushero.

Well, it's pretty obvious that out of the three of them: Pym is the smartest, Stark has the most versatile and useful scientific skills, and Banner is probably the least impressive scientifically but makes up for it by being a truck.

My Dream Team

Captain America
Ironman
Thor
Hank Pym
Hawkeye
Vision
Ms. Marvel
Wonderman
Beast

Everybody's dream team has the same theme, a traditional look. I think the core membership has to include classic members (Vision, Hawkeye, Pym, ect) and then squeeze in first timers in the last two spots like Justice and Firestar were during Busiek's run. Try some random guys from the Initiative and see if you can create some interesting relationships between people.

Yeah. Tigra and She-Hulk took that role during my favorite era of Avengers.

Let's see.

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Dr. Pym
Wasp
Hawkeye

For my two Newbs. I'll go with...

Wiccan

And

Thundra.

If Marvel can have Rogue finally touch people, they can get Scott to no longer need his ruby quartz glasses and Bruce to keep his intelligence when he transforms into the Hulk.

I'm against all those. I am also against spitting in the wind. Taking off the Lone Rangers mask. And stepping on Superman's cape.

I like when there's a "couple' on the team, and these two always seem to be leaving the X-Men. In fact, my reason for getting Collosus on the team is that he goes to them for help in getting Kitty back. I would also do a story that reveals that, behind the scenes, Charles was always pushing for a mutant to be on the team, going way back to Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver.

I also like when they take in a reformed villain, and the Spot has always been one of my favorite spidey villains(although, admittedly, because of his silly name.....come here Spot.....good boy.....). Since he's kind of a blank slate, it would be a good opportunity for someone to add some character.

I would be up for Songbird to be an Avenger...Jean Grey would be nice too.

I would love for Beast to be put back on the team though, as he could finally feel good about being a hero again.

I think at the core of the new Avengers team, I want Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Pym, and Hawkeye. They'd make a really solid "classic" core. Then you can throw in your Spider-Man or Jessica Jones or whoever to put a new spin on the Avengers; I can take or leave anyone else, but those 5 have all earned a secure spot if they're going back to a more classic feel for the Avengers. Especially Thor, Pym, and Hawkeye. They've all been through tons of crap and lost their spots for pretty long periods recently.

Scott's inability to control his optic blasts is not the same as Rogue's inability or now the ability to control her powers better. Rogue's problem was because she never had the right amount of training, Scott's problem is because a certain part of his brain that would've controlled his optic blasts was damaged when he and his brother jumped out of their parents plane. Yea, I'm sure some telepath or even a real surgeon could try and fix Scotts problem, but Scotts problem is not as bad as Rogue's was. All Cyke has to do is wear Ruby quartz glasses. Cyke wouldn't look as cool or have that extra pizzaz without his visor. The Visor also helps Scott regulate the output of his blasts and if he really wants to let lose, he takes off the visor.

Which was pretty dumb considering Rogue has had years of training since joining the Brotherhood and eventually the X-men. Ms. Marvel had control of her powers, yet Rogue didnt

It all boils down to "Jumping the Shark".

Do you want the Thing to be able to control his transformation?

Do you want Spider-man to have lots of money and no trouble at all in his love life?

Do you want Magneto to be a "Good Guy"?

Whenever you change the flaws that got us to love the characters to begin with... the story might as well be over.

Rogue is my favorite X-Man and I stopped reading when she finally learned how to control it. That's a 20 some odd year reading relationship that just... faded away.

I wonder how many others lost interest when the character Jumped the Shark?

It's funny, because all of those things happened. Man alive, Thing reverting back to Ben is almost a trope at this point it's been done so many times!

I think people online put too much emphasis on whether or not a character is a Mary Sue or whether they've jumped the shark. When you have characters that have been around this long, I doubt you can avoid using these conventions (which generally seem to be derided as "lazy writing") from time to time.
