Siege Ends The Avengers

Yes because Bendis needs Wolverine for his comic to sell. It's so obvious.

Exactly. Bendis is on a 7 issue streak plus the Annual and Dark Reign: The List one-shot without Wolverine even appearing in the freaking book. He's non-existent on the team and is barely noticeable when he is having his adventures with the Avengers.

With his duties to the X-Men, what he represents, and Bendis' lack of use of the character, I really just can't see him on the Heroic Age Avengers.

Also, I too doubt that this is not the Avengers roster. It lacks Steve Rogers, which USA Today is saying that the "reborn" Captain America is on the team. Beast is wearing his X-Men uniform once more. I just can't see an Agent of Atlas monkey joining the Avengers like Congorilla on the Justice League. And I just can't see Bendis not putting Mockingbird and Ms. Marvel on the team.

I see your point, but I've also seen USA Today get stuff like this wrong before. While you, me and everyone on this board knows that there's two Cap's right now, USA today is probably not fully aware.

Eh. Husbands and wives can be separate from one another in the Marvel Universe. It's not like Sue Storm follows Reed wherever he goes. Same for Storm and Black Panther.

True, but with Thor and Iron Man and the promise to reunite Marvel's "trinity" it would seem odd to use Bucky instead of Steve.

Relaunching Avengers without Steve as Cap to coincide with the "Age of Heroes" is a ballsy move, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. Trust me, Steve will be there in some way, shape, or form. Steve will always be Cap in the eyes of the rest of the Marvel U with or without the uniform. Bucky, you poor bastard!

Since when have Sue and Reed not been in together in a book that they star in. Even when they were Avengers for a short time, they joined together.

As for Storm and Black Panther, that's because they have developed separate histories unlike Reed and Sue.

It's pretty much the same with Mockingbird. She really isn't going to be used beyond just being Hawkeye's pseudo-wife, Bendis wants to write them as the Mr. and Mrs. Smith of Marvel, and while Marvel has continued to make Storm her own character, Mockingbird is pretty much stuck with Hawkeye.

Reed was dead for a few years back during the 90's if you want to count that.

Reed and Sue appear separately in numerous series, often without even mentioning one another. They have separate sets of friends that they operate with in books without calling upon one another.

The ONE reason to doubt that it's just a promotional photo and not the new line up is the presence of Beast.

A lot of questions come up when thinking about this being the line up.

Which title will feature Luke Cage (will he be the one to bite it in Siege?) now?

Is that Steve in Bucky's outfit?

Like some have said, it does seem like too much of a sausage fest with only ONE chick on the group.

Here's my rundown of thoughts on the line up.

Gorilla man : Don't like the fact that they're popping out with Gorilla Man for those of us who don't read Agents Of Atlas. I could do without it.

Beast : I'm all for Beast being an Avenger again. I'm fairly certain Bendis can write the 616 Beast well enough. Seems like he could be a cool addition to the team.

Black Widow : Seems like Marvel is doing a massive BW campaign and her placement on the group seems like an extension of that. I'd much rather have Spider Woman or Ms. Marvel or even Mockingbird.

Thing : I could see it working.

Hawkeye : It's about damn time!

Cap Thor & Iron Man : It was a given.

Spidey : I'm 100% fine with it.

Given his position with the FF, I agree that Thing is unlikely, though he is the only member of that team that I consider having been a legitimate Avenger.

If it was a promotional photo it'd have Wolverine representing the X-Men. Wolverine is one of Marvel's cash cows.

I really hope that isn't the final roster. Gorilla man? Really? I know everyone lists their dream team, but I thought I'd throw out mine:

Captain America (either Steve or Bucky)
Iron Man
Thor
Ms. Marvel
Hawkeye
Songbird
Cloak
Dagger
Yellowjacket*

*Here's to hoping Pym goes back to his old name.

** I also wanted [BLACKOUT]Ares [/BLACKOUT] on the team, but Siege #2 kills that idea. Boo! :csad:

Instead of the gorilla guy, i'd add either hulk or she-hulk on the team. Other than that i'm fine with the roster.

With Luke Cage and spider-woman gone, i always thought it would be cool if there was an official "street team" that deals with the street-level threats. In my fantasies i've always wanted to see: Daredevil, Luke, Iron Fist, Spiderwoman, Moon Knight, and Dr Strange form their own team. And maybe have Spiderman make sporadic appearances here and there.

There was that unofficial Marvel Knights team from some time back, with the likes of Daredevil, Black Widow, and Moon Knight.

I've always wanted to see Daredevil on the Avengers. He's pretty much the only non X-Men Stan Lee character to not be a part of the team ever.

Thats because DD's life has been a complete mess since the 80's. lol. I dont think DD wants to entangle anyone else in his messes. Still, the fanboy inside me would love to see him on a team or even lead a team as i think he would be a great leader. Whenever he teams up with other heroes its always great to see his interactions with them especially with Spiderman, Luke Cage and Ironfist.

I don't think that HEROIC AGE poster was supposed to be reflective of a team roster. I just think it was supposed to reflect characters from various different franchises at once. The curious thing is Beast, not Wolverine, representing the X-Men. I suppose it makes sense canon wise, as he has been on the Avengers and the Defenders, as well as briefly being an agent of SWORD.

Whatever happens, so long as Dan Slott and Christos Gage each return to one Avengers comic a month, I'll be there.

Also nice to see Gorilla-Man representing the Agents of Atlas. Marvel sure are investing in that one.

I was wondering the same thing, that's what makes me think that this will be the Avengers roster after Siege.

It's surprising that people are actually upset about Gorilla-Man. Ken Hale's a damned fine character whether you read his comics or not. He's more than just a gimmick; his personality is compelling enough that he'd work just as well if he were just a dude instead of a(n awesome) gorilla.

No. Pym needs to never use the Yellowjacket ID again.
