Siege

True, it doesn't balance.

Guess we'll have to let Bendis take over Spidey. Hmmmz....

Sorta back on topic.

Topic?

Bendis wrote one Avengers book, and he sucked at it. Then he wrote TWO Avengers books, but rather than changing the actual level of suck, not only did the original book remain at the same level of suck, the NEW one sucked at exactly the same level. So my thoughts are this: Slott came on to MA, and it turned from suck to making me not feel guilt by reading it, and if he takes over the other book, if the variables remain constant like they did with Bendis, NA should follow suit.

The NA could all explode for all I care, except for Cap and Hawkeye (He's NOT ****ING RONIN DAMN IT), so that book's suck level is irrelevant to me.

To be honest, it wouldn't even be a big deal if the New Avengers ceased to exist. Mighty Avengers is all I need and as long as Bendis is kept satisfied and distracted with his Dark Avengers I'm happy.

I felt the same about MA, until Slott came along, and used Phoenix Down on my interest in it.

However, I agree about Clint, but in another way. In the way that it isn't Clint. It has to be some alternate universe Ultimate crap Clint, temporarily there. Or some Skrull who hasn't been offed, with the real Clint still yet to fall to Earth, pimp slap Kate Bishop, take back up the bow, and resume his awesomeness. I'm really rooting for that pimp slapping Kate Bishop part, I'm not exactly sure why. =/

IDA. New Avengers was pretty solid up until Civil War. He did a great job with the title and it was an enjoyable read. It kind of went through a rut after CW and hasnt been as great since though

I 'unno. New Avengers pre-Civil War was still pretty much NA post Civil War in the fact that it wasn't really a functioning Avengers team, as much as it was a vehicle to make Luke Cage and Spider Woman look like they matter to someone somewhere, and that the rest of the Avengers are okay taking a backseat to his resounding "common sense" approach. =/

Hawkeye used to be a fun cocky bastard. I don't know what this thing is but it isn't Hawkeye.

Cage practically led the New Avengers into an implosion during Secret Invasion.

Agreed, this dude isn't Hawkeye. It's a crappy Bendis, "Oh shizzle, I thought I was writing Ultimate (insert name here), and accidentally put him into the 616" like he did with Carnage.

And yeah, Cage SUCKS as any sort of serious Avengers leader. HfH leader? He was good at that. Avengers? They're sort of their own level. And it's above him.

That was funny because a trip to ****ing wikipedia could have caught that error.

Or, you know, f*****g remembering what he himself wrote in another comic.

I mean, it's one thing if the character is obscure as all get out, and was last written by some dead dude some twenty years ago.

It's another when you literally wrote that character yourself not even two years before.

I found the first several arcs much better than the latter ones. I found the more recent villians like The Hood, Madam Masque and the Wrecking Crew pretty boring. And dont get me started on Secret Invasion which felt as if it went on to long and like Civil War, broke the book for those few months. The book was much better when it first came out. I still like it, but not as much as before

That, and high-levels of callousness not usually evident in EITHER of them.

"So, we're cloning what amounts to one of your ONLY friends, right Tony?"

"Yah."

"And you don't really have a problem with this?"

"Should I?"

"Uh dude we are hunting down our friends with a tenacity we never had for any of our villians and locking them in a prison in the negative zone without due process and throwing away the key.....whats cloning a few of my friends??? However if you are a little squeemish how about I put a fail safe in so that he only kills black heroes."

"Why black heroes?"

"Why not?"

Oh, you mean in overall quality? Yeah, the book was better at the get go, than later on, where it literally became a thinly veiled reference to what a comic book just shouldn't be: Crap.

"Exactly."

/High five.

Bendis is better at writing solo books than team ones. He can't juggle so many major characters at once and the dialogue becomes pointless rambling.

Daredevil Alias :yay:

New Mighty Dark Avengers

New Mighty Dark Avengers
That's what the unified Avengers comic should be called. Then they could murder their villains since, apparently, morals are passé and bystanders could comment, "Look, it's those new Avengers. They sure are mighty dark."

Though, the Mighty Avengers sorta found their moral ground again. And led by Pym no less. That actually speaks volumes about how bad the other teams are. =(

Pym's got strong morals. Never mind that he's probably f***ing a robot with his dead ex-wife's brain engrams. We all have quirks.

All great men had great evils about them.

Wife beating, munchausen by proxy, killer robot making, trying to get back with your wife while kissing on a girl half your age, f*****g a robot programmed after your dead ex wife who wanted NOTHING to do with you (I actually don't see an issue with this one... No, I do), and hitting said robot and calling her worthless for saving people? Minor quirks.

Or how about Crispety Crunchity Peanut Buttery Avengers?

That could probably work. Or if they aren't too stretched out yet, give Van Lente, or Brubaker/Fraction have a shot at a title.

Then if you ask me (and this is something I've been saying based purely on how that book is written), the New Avengers shouldn't be an Avengers team at all. They certainly don't feel like the Avengers. Maybe they should change their name.

But "The Defenders" was already taken :D

Maybe the New Avengers should be regular Avenger's X-Force....except without the killing.

Regular Avengers has all of the classic characters (Cap, IM, Thor, Quicksilver, Witch, etc...) & they go on big adventures, while New Avengers would have more street-level heroes (Cage, Spidey, Iron Fist, etc...) & go on secret missions.

Or New Avengers can just be titled "Heroes for Hire". Bendis would like that.
