Superman Returns Singer mentioned that this would vaguely tie in with Smallville, how so???

Personally, its not the fact that hes coming back that annoys me, its how hes coming back; the ghost and the kryptonite drug flatlining. He also reveals a major unknown plotpoint to Clark (that Lionel knows his secret and hes after Martha) which makes Clark meeting Jon's ghost not a illusion or dream either (considering the ghost reveals new information)...

Its all very strange...

Agreed. Like I said, I'm a BIG fan of SV but this angle on using JK the way they are really blows.

The way I had always idealized Jonathan Kent coming back in SV was in the series finale during a flashback sequence where he imparts some definining advice to Clark, as he takes his final step towards Superman and leaves SV.

Having him come back like this...so soon is pretty underwhelming. :down

I think we have already seen that the, fortress looks like the one in returns.

HA HA HA HA........

You mean the guy who was BANNED? Hmm, yes, interesting coincidence the new guy would use the same grammar...

No, I think he means JackBauer, that has/had a sig where it says "there's no such word as CASTED"

Who is this "Welling" everyone is talking about?

Keep the trolling to a minimum please.
he doesn't like smallville, he's free to express that to a degree

But I've let it be known....don't spend time bashing Welling in here...it only leads to fights.....keep this Superman Returns.

Plus....There is absolutely no need for certain derogatory terms to be used by anyone in a comic book forum.

But whereas Jonathan died of natural causes in the Reeve/Routh timeline, Smallville's Jonathan died as a result of Clark willingly sacrificing one life in exchange for reviving Lana. The last thing I want to see the movie acknowledge is Superman being responsible for the death of his own father.

The only connection I want to see is the Fortress. Anything else would be a waste of time.
I know this was a while back but I was just reading through this thread and had to say Johnathon kent died in smallville because nature has to restore the balance and johnathon has had heart probs for a couple of seasons, and this might have happened in the first film but it didnt show that much of his childhood and wasnt that specific all smallville tries to do is pad out the story sometime in a good way and sometime they fall short of the mark but hey what ever its all good I just laugh the silly **** off.
P.s Jor-el speaks of the human race like they are lower life forms in the first film so it only makes sence he wouldnt mind sacrificing a few of them to protect his son and and his sons destiny, you would kill a chimp to save a family member wouldnt you. I dont think smallville has made an evil Jor-el I just think he cares more for his son than he does for some damn dirty apes

One thing I DO NOT want Superman Returns to have, is the CLASSIC cliffhanger ending, which has been used in EVERY superhero flick in the last five years... Returns should have story lines within the movie that can be translated into the sequel, but it shouldn't come at the very end (which is so ridiculously commen for these type of films).. Returns should end GOOD, satisfying AND epic!! The world has gotten back their savior, ending it all with the classic superman flying in space, looking into the camera before flying off sequence!.. People should'nt be walking out of the theater only thinking, Oh my God, what will happen in the sequel!!?? We only have to wait 3 ****ing years for it!! No No, dont they please do the classic superhero movie ending, be still my lunch!.. When people walk out of the theater, they should only be thinking of how breathtaking a movie experience they had just seen!.. Let the sequel create its own hype like 3 years later!
That is lame. I want a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers are great. They stem all the way back to the adventure serials of the 1940s. It wouldn't be a superhero with out one.

I don't see how Jor-El looking down on the human race and being willing to sacrifice a few doesn't make him an antagonist.

I know how it ties with Smallville.

It´s the same name of the city where Kal-El's pod lands.

Personally, I don't think that SR is going to tie into Smallville as much as Smallville is going to tie into SR.

Think about it! ;)

I think that's what Singer meant.

I'd like to keep them seperate. In many ways I like that SV is its own show seperate from things we know of Superman. It allows Superman to be properly told on the big screen

And I think that's the part that pisses off a few Smallville fans....they don't like this scenario one bit.

I mean with Smallville one of the reasons I liked it since season 1 was because it was a simple show. When people on the net (fans?) come in complaining about weak characters, mythological inaccuraies, shippers (ugh god people can we not love Lana, Chloe and Lois equally? who cares who annoys who?) and whether Welling should have been Superman, it's a problem cause there taking the show way seriously than it is. I like because it has teen elements mixed with others. I'm not gonna judge to the same standards of a Lost, CSI etc.
So with that said let's end this debate and move foward with Superman Returns ya feel me?

But you have to admit Smallville is running on fumes now, I like the show but they really need to call it a day soon.
