GTA uses a different protagonist with each game being its own thing with loose ties to the past games. If SD wants to do a drastically different setting, then I think they need to follow the GTA model and bring in a new main character and have it be loosely tied to the original. If they are gonna continue with Shen, stay in southeast AsiaI agree, in the sense that the setting is a huge reason why I had interest with this game.
But with that said, seeing as how this is similar to a GTA kind of game, a different setting would be cool because GTA is set in US cities, so it would be nice to see an open world game based in some foreign setting.
IA with your original point. What made SD appealing was the setting. The vast majority of the other open world games of this type are rooted in the US, primarily rotating between the same cities (NY, LA, SF, Miami, LV). They rarely think too far outside the box and go to a foreign setting which is why I appreciated what SD had to offer. I think any of the three cities proposed would be interesting but it goes back to my original statement in terms of how I feel they should proceed with that
