Sleeping Dogs

I agree, in the sense that the setting is a huge reason why I had interest with this game.

But with that said, seeing as how this is similar to a GTA kind of game, a different setting would be cool because GTA is set in US cities, so it would be nice to see an open world game based in some foreign setting.
GTA uses a different protagonist with each game being its own thing with loose ties to the past games. If SD wants to do a drastically different setting, then I think they need to follow the GTA model and bring in a new main character and have it be loosely tied to the original. If they are gonna continue with Shen, stay in southeast Asia

IA with your original point. What made SD appealing was the setting. The vast majority of the other open world games of this type are rooted in the US, primarily rotating between the same cities (NY, LA, SF, Miami, LV). They rarely think too far outside the box and go to a foreign setting which is why I appreciated what SD had to offer. I think any of the three cities proposed would be interesting but it goes back to my original statement in terms of how I feel they should proceed with that

I haven't played any of the DLC add ons. Anyone know if they're worth it?

I haven't played any, because for whatever dumbass reason, none of them are available on the German Steam store. Also, I have the UK version of the game and Steam is region restricted, so I can't buy the DLC from the UK store. I knew a work around, but that doesn't work anymore.

If they came out with a GOTY edition, I'd consider getting it

I havent purchased any of it yet(outside of the 47 outfit). None of it has seemed too appealing. Hopefully this one will be pretty cool.

How's the 47 suit in action?

F***ing awesome. It comes with a silverballer as well. I mean you can almost RPG Sleeping Dogs as an open world Hitman game. Wei Shen does look kinda funny bald tho. But its a sweet suit. The pack isnt too bad as a whole. Ya get Jensens suit and gun as well as the guy from Just Cause.

I finally, finally got a chance to play this. I was very eager to play it since its release, and it certainly didn't disappoint me. I actually got it a couple of days before I got Tomb Raider, and I ended up putting that in hold just so I could finish this one up. I mentioned this in the LA Noire thread, but this was the exact type of game I would have wanted Rockstar to do, if they ever waned to do another cop game.

And just going back to the talk about a sequel, as much as I loved the unique setting in this one, I wouldn't mind seeing Wei Shen come back to a place like San Francisco. They alluded to his past there, and it seemed like he wasn't willing to go back to the USA, but I think they could capture a similar tone there and mix the Chinatown environment with the American culture. If not, I really like the sounds of a London based game, although I don't think they should bring Wei back for that and I worry what it could mean or the gameplay/combat since it was very influenced by Martial Arts.

I want Wei to stay in Asia, maybe go to Japan. Make it a joint operation with the Japan Police Department, to take down the Yakuza.

That sounds cool.

Im stoked for the DLC, finally. Outside of the 47 suit i havent cared for any of this games DLC. Looking forward to continuing the story of Wei Shen and taking the more police approach rather than undercover gangster.

Looks pretty cool. Kinda makes me regret sending the game to Gamefly last week.

Yea I picked it up yesterday. Seems pretty cool so far, kinda neat to be playing as a straight cop, well as straight a cop as Wei can be.

This game finally got added to the NA list of free games on PS+ so it looks like Im about to check it out again. Any opinion on the DLC? Is it worth my time?

Aside from the most recent DLC, I don't think so. Most of it is pretty much fluff.

I was pretty surprised when I saw it as a free game in the PS+ program earlier,I'll be downloading it for sure later today!!

I forgot all about Sleeping Dogs. I never did finish it.

The game is awesome But VERY redundant since most of what you do in the whole game in the story&side stuff is just fights&chases on foot..Although you do get upgrades in moves and there are badass object interactions to smash someone in and plus the sliding animation for sliding over things including car hoods never get old and jumping over things including larger vehicles are cool!

Awesome game overall and even better for me since I got it for free via PS+!

So are they going to announce the sequel or something?

Id assume we'd get one fairly soon. We know that a sequel is in the works. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for an "official" announcement.

That's great news! This game surprised me! I bought it during Steam holiday sales, and i liked it so much, after a week, i went ahead and bought all the DLC's!

Yea i really enjoyed the title overall as well. It really satisfied that martial arts, crime drama i was craving at the time. Cant wait to see a next gen version of the game.

if you saw the recorded ep live on tomb raider which is in that post in thread the head of the studio told vic that's any sequel with sleep dog's will be dealt with in Triad wars which it's the same universe . He hasn't said anything more then that. the detail are in there and this writer will be apart of that.

Also this writer just told vic on another up coming story DLC for dead Rising 3 And his own studio will be doing the movies for most of the video game franchise's as well. it's on the site . that's all I can tell you for now I think if the you tube version isn't up by day time for me where I'm at it'll be during the week end . but all the info you seek is on that site from the both of those people connected to the franchise. it's availabe for you to see for your self, on what they had to say.
