Well...it's hot girls in anime-comic fanboys fantasies involving gun-wielding giant samurai-ninjas, rocket-jetpaks, WWII-esque CGI-styled warzones complete with Nazi zombies, flying dragons, and hot jailbait girls in skimpy outfits, the lead dressed like the standard-bearer for school girl looks, Sailor Moon....
I don't know. It just looks like a video game and a 13-to-16 year old's fantasies come true. I like Emily Browning and Carla Gugino. I like Snyder's aesthetics (though they can often become overbearing) and I often find myself defending him on Watchmen and the underrated Dawn of the Dead.
But this looks like a return to 300, on steroids. And I found 300 incredibly boring. But this should be a hit as it is the same idea, except with a checklist of fanboy set pieces and the homoerotic heroes being school girls and not shirtless men. Also no pro-fascism is a plus. But, it just looks...odd to me.
But it should be a huge hit.
I am surprised it is not rated R for obvious reasons. And I will say that Browning, Chung, and especially the Sweet Pea girl (I don't know the actress) look amazing in it. But I will wait for reviews.
