so...anyone watch PRIMEVAL?

Aw, I was kind of hoping there'd be some time travely way to bring Stephen back. :(

yeh...apparently he's been penciled in but nothing is set in stone...

i like the fact that they've ended with big cliff hangers and had no plan on where to go from there

thanks for the merge. so some pictures of a shooty guy? any chance of posting them?

I asked the writers at London Expo back in May if they could bring him back in a way and they both said no, his dead dead, its not like doctor who or other shows where people come back, his dead.

Shame as I did like him.

Meet the new boy on 'Primeval'

Here's the first look at Primeval's new addition, Captain Becker:

Played by newcomer Ben Mansfield, Becker is drafted in by Lester to help protect the team in the aftermath of Stephen's death. I caught up with Ben in the middle of filming the new series to find out more about the show's new military presence.

How did you get the role?
"I auditioned for another show, Merlin, and got down to the last two to play Arthur. The casting director was also casting Primeval and suggested I come in for this. I didn't expect to get it: I had long hair at the time, which isn't really a military look."

Not that there's anything wrong with long hair. This is your first role, isn't it?
"This is my first sort of long-term TV gig. It was a bit intimidating at first, but [the cast] have been really accommodating."

What's Captain Becker's background?
"He comes from a military family, went to military school, did some special operations and then got seconded to this mysterious outfit."

Is he in the field quite a lot?
"Yes, I'm now part of the team. I go everywhere and watch their backs. I shoot the dinosaurs... and Helen's minions!"

How does he get on with the others in the team?
"He's a bit perplexed with Connor - he sees him as this weird, geeky guy and they have a sort of amiable friction. When he and Cutter first meet, Cutter tells him 'I'm in charge' but Becker insists 'I'm just here to look after you'. They develop a working, professional relationship. He gets on with the others fine."

How do you think you'll cope with attention from female and male fans?
"That's fine with me but I'm not entirely sure that that's going to happen. I would find the idea very amusing."

Would you be happy being a pin-up? Topless shoots for Cosmo, maybe?
"I don't think they'd want to see me topless. Maybe after I went to the gym a bit more."

Finally, how do you feel about stepping into the shoes of the much-missed Captain Ryan?
"Those are difficult shoes to fill, I think. Hopefully I won't have a similar demise!"

The new series of Primeval begins on ITV1 early next year.

There you go.

I enjoyed it as well. The CGI was pretty much at Doctor Who level, which is acceptable, and the creatures were interesting. Freak-of-the-week with prehistoric monsters? Count me in.

The show starts off slow but gets better as it progresses. The crossing and double crossing, evil schemes, mysteries and time paradox stuff makes it more intresting as the show goes on.

The thing about the show I find extremely annoying is the fact that they make such a big deal about messing with the past and then they go and leave all sorts of future stuff back there. Another thing is pretty bothersome is how they often have no backup when they go investigate anomalies as if a couple of dart guns is a enough against what could potentially come out at them.

There you go.

Wow, he really is a prettyboy. I like that they're basically combining the roles of Stephen and Captain Ryan, though. Stephen as the action hero never really sat well with me. He's a doctoral candidate or something, not a military badass. Even with the timeline change, it seemed awkward.

how long did it take for series 1 and 2 to make it across the pond?

I'm looking forward to the new series. Primeval's a pretty solid show.

They aired both seasons together here last summer.

then who the hell knows when it'll come over...possibly later this year or early next year...

they've changed the date over here...so

Huh. I just finished watching the trailer, and it seems the team will be expanding quite a bit more than I realized.

Yeah.....I don't know if, since they have now aired the first 2 seasons, they will show it here right after it airs in England....or hold it for a while to fill some slot whenever they feel like it.

Luckily I recorded all the episodes to DVD....so I can still rewatch it when I want.

I think I may rent the DVDs and watch the first two series again in anticipation of the third. God bless Netflix.

i own the dvds so no need to rent for me :woot:

also its really easy to see the decline in quality between series 1 and 2 when you watch them together :csad:

ant and dec on the 14th for 6 weeks so after that i'd assume

Wow Jason Flemyng is this. He got an acting role that didn't rely on him being friends with someone.

primeval is better than most other things that have been in that timeslot...demons, robin hood(which is also back next week) and merlin, which have all been terrible, terrible wastes of time and money

All those are also lame! :wow:
