Forgive me for digressing, but what's a 'trilogy'? Is it simply a 3-movie title, or a 3-parter movie? Would Indiana Jones be considered a trilogy, considering that they're three distinct and unconnected movies like Star Trek and James Bond?

If Indy is such a case, what about Fast and Furious then?

Unless the original movie was crappy and stupid to begin with and the sequel improved it (ie. Terminator 2, Mad Max 2, Meet the Fockers..), sequels mostly turn out to be crap, or at least never as good as the original.

X1- Bad- but since it avoided Schumacherism, critics and fans tended to overrate it.

X2- Good- but in a Super Trooper-esue "poorly written but you really liked the good parts" (Wolverine/Deathstrike fight) and "the bad parts didn't bother you so much" (That terrible Magneto line when he landed the X-Jet).

X3- Ehh- As Frank Sinatra would say, "We had a thing. I'm through wit ya. The money's on the drawer. Now send in the clowns."

X1 was just as badly thown together BS. And the plot was way too contrived to be convincing.

Hey! All movies have their contrivances, but good movies use them as form rather than function.

At least in X2, the only bad contrivance was the whole Drake Family scenes.

I would say "Yes". First Blood was cool, Rambo 2 is what blew the franchise up and made Rambo an 80's action hero icon, and 3 was o.k- worst of the three but didn't completely suck....

You're wrong. I enjoyed the movie, but I also recognize the flaws in character development, dialogue, and direction.

It's not a horrible movie in my opinion, it just could've been so much better than it was.

I view X3 as a good movie, but it's wasted potential and I also consider it PSINO; which stands for Phoenix Saga In Name Only.

Yes most definately. This will go down as a great trilogy. Better then The Matrix but not as good as Lord Of The Rings or Star Wars. Pirates Of the Caribbean will be another great trilogy when it is finished. Thats just my feeling and Spiderman as well. Even though its not my favorite comic book movies. Spiderman will be a trilogy to many.
