So... How About That Coke Commercial...

I'm not even offended by the multiculturalism. I'm offended by how cheesy and elementary it is. It's the kind of thing that 3rd graders have plays about after their teachers tell them about Thanksgiving and they paint turkeys using their hands.

How about they show a single mother working two jobs trying to put food on the table? Or some high school kids in Washington D.C. with textbooks outdated by 40 years?

But no, it has to be Coca-Cola bringing the whole world together. Lmao.

Yeah, it's offensive to me not because it's multicultural, but because it's the day time TV movie version of multiculturalism presented by people who we all know doesn't give even the slightest **** about anything other than making money.

Meanwhile, in Cleveland, children are learning that DNA just got discovered a few months ago.

The word "Fanta" comes from the German word "Fantasie".

It's just kind of ironic to see this company try to be all inclusive / multicultural.

The Nazis would be rolling over in their graves!

The heavy patriotism that was on display early on doesn't bother me...it's the fact that the corporate stench in this case is so ridiculously noticeable. I thought the reading of the Declaration of Independence prior to the game was nice at first...until the camera had to focus on the big Metlife Stadium sign above the stands in the middle of a reading.

Then again, I also think it's ironic they're using Charlie Brown - a character seen every Christmas as being aghast at all the crass commercialism - as a spokesperson.

Hey it's not every day a super jingoistic liberal gets a soda commercial aimed just at them.

Apparently the Coca Cola commercial prompted "outrage".

Sigh.

THEM NON-AMERICANS SINGING OUR ****ING AMERICA SONG, HOW DARE THEY, NEVER BUYING COKE AGAIN!!!

It's as if they got the reaction they wanted. lol

How dare Coke make a commercial that they know will make people get mad.

Every commerical aired during the Super Bowl is going to generate outrage. It's just the ones that are most popular we'll hear about.

THIS SPIDER-MAN MOVIE LOOKS TO JOKE-Y!!! :argh:

So many ignorant posts on Facebook over this...

Can someone explain to me how the Coca Cola commercial somehow conveyed the idea that no one does or should learn English when they come from another country ? I'm pretty sure it was a commercial about heritage using "Coke" as a metaphor for shared interests/language (IE, EVERYONE loves Coke!), not a public message that no one should learn to speak English when they come to America. Based on some of the posts I've seen on Facebook tonight, a lot of those people speak and write better and more proper English than many Americans anyway.

Who is going to be offended with the Radio Shack commercial? People who think the 80s was the best decade ever?

All those people probably already think that way. This is just more fuel for their self-righteous "we hate immigrants" phobia.

Probably a few. Although I'm sure someone will be offended by any of the numerous 80's characters we saw. There's going to be someone mad that Hulk Hogan or Alf or some other reference was there because of some stupid reasoning.

These folks on twitter are so outraged over the singing that they've all failed to notice the two nice gay men warping their daughter's mind with their sinner lifestyle. :o

I guess foreign policy is higher on their list of priorities than gay marriage. Who knew?

Only way it could've been worse is if the foreigners were also gay.

I'm guessing people who reacted negatively to this are the type who go tilting at windmills. Seeing people who are different than you doesn't mean that a black-cloaked mob is going to take you away in the middle of the night.

And for the people who were offended over the corporatism, what did you expect from Super Bowl Sunday?

They expected more... but don't ask them what that would be because they don't know either.

It's a freaking ad for brown sugar water. Every one on both sides... HAVE A COKE AND A SMILE AND SHUT THE **** UP. :woot:

I'm currently drinking a caffiene-free Dr Pepper so :oldrazz:.
