read silver surfer requiem 1, as always JMS minis are a delight to read, very well told. So if JMS is killing him off,why tho? has the character run its course, or is he going to be rebirthed into something else?

I find it unlikely that he'll actually die and stay dead for more than a few months.

I mean he's Galactus' herald again now which Requiem doesnt seem to be aware of. Big G'll easilly give the old crome dome a tune up.

Okay, I vote for this thread to either be deleted, or at least have the title changed. Some people haven't read the book yet. Jesus.

^^i forgot, but its not that even big of deal(its only on issue 1), so stop whining.

I liked it. The art is pretty. Most likely, this will end with Galactus somehow. These "end all be all" Surfer stories always do. It'll most likely end as the Surfer is simply shedding his shell or something like that, and he'll be fine.

Read it as a separate Surfer pre-Annihilation story, and you'll be fine.

wait, what happened to him in annihilation?

i dont really want him to be normal, i like him as the surfer.

Galactus, feeling threatened by the release of Tenebrous and Aegis, pulled Norrin back into service as his herald, empowering him to his original levels before he left Galactus, and dropped to less than half in power prior. He goes around doing herald work, and nearly killing himself for Galactus now.

aww i wanted him to be free of galatus control. boo

and when the **** did galatus come back? mark waid made him a normal man inhis FF run.

Maybe I didn't read it well enough, but I thought this was sort of like one of those "The End" books, a bit into the future. (Reed, Sue and Johnny looked older to me.) Is there anything in there that puts it in current continuity?

IS this pre Ann. Wave? I was under the impression that it was current.

I didn't think they looked older, but Johnny definitely acted older (or at least more mature). You may be on to something.

It's never explained, but his first reappearance is in Stormbreaker:Saga of Beta Ray Bill.

As for those who think it's a "The End" story. It's most likely just placed right before Annihilation, if it will remain in continuity.

Cosmics and death don't usually have a very long relationship, if any. I would not worry. I give it no real shelf time.

I assume this will be a "set in the future" thing, like the "End" books (as was just mentioned) or "Spider-Man: Reign".

Spider-Man: Reign would be the PERFECT analogue for this.

Yeah but isnt Spiderman: Reign one of those possible future deals?

We still dont know when Requiem takes place. It could be pre Annihilation Wave, it could be present time and the writers just werent aware of SS's re-heralding (bigger mistakes HAVE been made in past)

It could be alternate timeline-present. It could all be a dream.

It's most likely a "Silver Surfer: The End" sort of deal, as it's dealing with his imminent death.

While the timeline would most likely suggest if it were in 616 that it's pre-Annihilation, due to him not being a herald, I doubt the Surfer would go back to Zenn-La, and not stay there.

Why do comic book fans always have to shoehorn things into little timelines. Can't we all just read Silver Surfer: Requiem and accept it as an out of continuity tale? Really, as long as they don't give us some timeline, there's no reason to put it into one.

The continuity of story was the least of my worries. It's such a great read, that I could not care less as when it takes place.

Oh yeah. Welcome to the Hype.

Can someone tell me why Sue was so torn up over a guy she rarely ever sees? And why it was so important to not tell Johnny and Ben?

Because Johnny and Ben are *****es and would start crying and ****ting their pants and stuff.

Its a marvel knights title and is therefore not within continuity. If you really want to place it in continuity, it is effectively in the future.
