So, I just turned down two promotions.

My universe is shattered.

Cconn actually works.

nevermind . . . I just read more of this thread . . . you're pretty young dude; have a little fun for now, and you could always find another retail job; are you in school?
I start school at the end of this month. I'm not finding another job in retail. I'm not doing this job just to have fun. This is going to be my career, but just because I declined the positions right now, doesn't mean I won't have another chance at them later.

Today, a good hour of my day was spent listening to my supervisor trying to convince me to change my mind. My manager even gave me until Saturday to make a decision. I guess I'll think about it again. We'll see.

And apparently, my manager's back up plan would be to move my supervisor over to my current department (Toys) and make me Team Lead of Electronics. That I WOULD love. But probably won't happen.

You hate Ronny Shade?

You militist.

I was jokingly saying I hated Norman. When I in-fact think he's awesome.

I hate that Norman let himself be Sushized.

Commander Riker gave up the chance for his own command and ship to stay on the Enterprise a little longer. In the end it all worked out.

She did, however, tell me happy birthday, which was nice.

lol that's not a promotion

thats lunch at wendys
No, it is. Actually, there's promotions in all form of business that don't even include a pay raise.

It's more about responsibilities than anything else. Of course, I already have most of the responsibilities a Team Leader has.

Must you be so creepy?

Yeah, my company has promotions without pay... like, if I became a key manager, I would've gotten maybe a quarter more in my paychecks. Not really worth all the extra responsibilities.

So yeah, after a lot of thought, and convincing on the part of my supervisor, I ended up taking the promotion. And yesterday I was named a Sales Floor Team Leader. I now get to boss people around, change crap at will, and have an attitude.

Congratulations, man. At least you got offered a promotion in your job.

I turned down a few promotions at my job a few years ago. They weren't even very big promotions, so I didn't mind passing them up. I regret it now. :(

My boss was being so creepy about it, though. I mean, her nickname is Shredder, she's like a human tank, and yet she was all happy and proud for me. :/

you are 19... 3 bucks an hour is a good raise. but in the context... perhaps happiness is better.

You overlook the possibility I could very well be happy with the promotion.

I'm giving it a try. I can always goi back to my old position if I don't like it.

It's just, yeah, I'm 19. And in about 4 months went from knowing nothing about retail, to being probably one of the respected - and even knowledgeable - people there. I've been trained by the best. And I've been flat out told I'll be made an executive the second I graduate college. This is a career, not just something fun to do on the weekends.
