Isn't anyone else here excited to see what the magnificent Christian Bale is going to bring for his last take on the character? (I mean after all he is Batman..I couldn't find his name in any relevant thread here) :whatever:
Consider this an appreciation thread :woot:

Good thread and I'd like to be the 2nd here to appreciate what he's done in BB and ESPECIALLY TDK, where his performance (and his character's presence, growth and significance) was criminally underrated.

Thanks! And I couldn't agree more..

I second this too. Bale was good in Batman Begins, but he was amazing in TDK. It's so annoying to see everyone overlook the superb work he did just because they don't like the Batman voice. As Bruce Wayne, Bale was subtle, restrained and really did give off the vibe of a man who had the weight of the world on his shoulders. And as Batman, I absolutely loved how he can be silent and composed one second and in the blink of an eye, turn into an absolute wild beast. A lot of people lauded Keaton's ability to emote from behind the mask, and say the world with his eyes alone without uttering a single world, but I don't get how the same people couldn't see that Bale did the same and more in TDK. Peter Travers was right on the mark when he said, "It's enough to watch Bale chillingly render Batman as a lost warrior, evoking Al Pacino in The Godfather II in his delusion and desolation." And let's not forget, in the climax of the film, it is Batman who walks away with the limelight. Villains are all fine and good, but the only thing I am uncontrollably excited for about the next film is what they would do with Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Somebody please get the mods to rename this thread to 'The Bruce Wayne/Batman appreciation thread'.

Besides expressing your appreciation for Bale :cwink:...we can use this thread to simply discuss the character(s) of Bruce Wayne/BATMAN in "The Dark Knight Rises". Where do you think he stands emotionally? How else can Bale develop the character? Any "dream scenes" you'd like to see?

I believe Bruce will appear emotionally torn right from the start of the film. He has presumably just lost the trust of his city [Gotham], Rachel (I think people forget how important Rachel actually was to him..and just the fact that the last conversation he had with her, was her saying she was going to "wait" for him..is incredibly heartbreaking), and Harvey at the hands of the Joker.

First off..how much time would you like to see have pass from the end of "The Dark Knight" to the beginning of "The Dark Knight Rises"? ..I'm so f'n excited to see how the hunt for Batman is going to play out! Does Batman being hunted by the GCPD/citizens mean more screen time for Bruce Wayne? Where's Batman going to meet Gordon now? ..Alfred's opinion on Bruce's decision to take the blame? His advice? ..And is it a safe assumption to say that Wayne Manor will be back for "The Dark Knight Rises"? Are flashbacks inevitable? Will we finally get a scene of Bruce at his parents grave? ..Bruce "gave up" Batman once in TDK..has he now learned he will always be Batman? ..Would Nolan have a scene of Batman passing by Joker's cell holding at Arkham? After all something does have to be mentioned about Joker ..We all know the ending is going to be beyond epic [Just thinking about it raises the hairs on my neck :wow:]. What do you think is going to be the last shot of Batman in Nolan's trilogy?

I'm just throwing out a bunch of questions out there..hopefully someone finds them interesting and wants to discuss one or various! Post your questions and let's discuss ..let the hype begin! "TDKR" is going to be truly special..

I know you want us to discuss possibilities for the character and we will but I had to congratulate you for this thread. Christian Bale deserves recognition for everything he has done with Batman/Bruce in this franchise. I'm going to miss him (assuming this is his last, of course)!!! The villains wouldn't be so attractive without Bale's performance. By showing how difficult it is to him to fight, makes him a hero all the more. Heck, that's why I am so fond of the character to begin with.

It goes without saying for me. The first thing I'm interested in with any Batfilm is how Bruce and Batman are portrayed. Everything else revolves around that.

But the thing is, villains also influence the main character, so when I say I'm interested in a villain, it's because I'm interested in how Batman responds to them. Riddler's intellectual challenge for him, for example, was something I was hoping to see since Batman hasn't been tested very hard there.
