The Amazing Spider-Man So now we've seen both, which was the best? - Part 1

Connors' motives were very blurred imo. Ratha said," Start trials or else." And then he just decides to test it on himself.

He probably figured this would be his last chance to try the formula and grow back his arm. That's how I see it.

Imo, the movie should've and could've worked without Ratha since his more important scenes were taken out already. Would've worked simply if Connors received e-mails about starting trials or what not and that they're sending someone to take the serum to start the trials which forces Connors' hand to experiment on himself. Would've worked a lot better without having a lackluster character with an even more lackluster storyline.

And the whole bridge seen? How would they explain that?

Oh Hey The Lizard just went after a random man

Connors could have still taken the serum and turn while he's close to the bridge, creating havoc, tossing Crane Dad's car which Spidey will intervene.

Wouldn't mess up without the tiny second of showing Dr. Ratha.

And that phone call and all? Seriously there was too much to remove the character altogether

Oh for crap sake. I wrote a whole long post replying to Anno's last post and to a specific section in the post before his last post where he wrote about Nolan's Batman not being a detective (I left that part out originally because I needed a whole post to talk just about that) but then as soon as I click Post Quick Reply, all you see is "Internet lost connection". That's really......"wonderful". Too lazy to type all that again so that will have to wait :csad:.

Which is why I copy the posts when I give a long reply

Goodness, you're thinking way too much into it.

A phone call could've been taken out as I said, keep the talking through e-mails until someone actually shows up to try and take the serum.

E-Mails? That would have been much worse.

E-mails would be worse than a lackluster character with no conclusion? Please.

And to say e-mails would be worse in technology savvy reboot.

E-mails would be worse IMO. And for all we know, Dr. Ratha could come back for the sequel, who knows?

Seeing Connors getting threats via e-mail would be very bad IMO. They just should've concluded Ratha's fate.

Lol, I don't see how it's bad at all. If I had to choose from getting threats through e-mail from board members that won't waste their time on a scientist(to show how OsCorp as a whole could be corrupted if OsCorp Tower is meant to be personified as a Tower of Babel) or a doctor that only showed up in a couple scenes and his more important scenes were taken out, then I'd choose the former as it also means more to the technology savvy aspect of the reboot.

I rewatched the '02 Spidey recently, and it's got an edge on ASM. ASM has better action and overall visuals, but Raimi's story cohesion and character development beat ASM.

i havn´t seen it in a loong time..but as i remember, Spiderman had more characters and more memorable too,the movie had a better villain and i think ASM had more development but it was cut, for example Uncle Ben, they cut some stuff like him making bridges(you can see bridges models when he is lecturing Peter) and Doctor Connor´s family, and i think they undeveloped Capt. Stacy.. etc

as for cohesion , in Spiderman 1 they made the movie on its own and then go for sequels with ASM they knew they were going to make a trilogy ,for me the movie feels like the first chapter of a story "The Untold Story" i still like ASM more and i know it has flaws, but i hope in the future when the sequel(s) are out that there are things from ASM connect to them and how they built up the story

Spider-man is still the better movie for me, ASM has grown on me a lot on repeat viewings, but Raimi's movie still got the origin better for me, and it had a lot more emotion to it, especially Uncle Ben's death, I felt more focus was put on the effect it had on both Peter and Aunt May in Raimi's movie, were as in ASM it just focused on Peter and not for very long.

I'm going to have to go with Raimi's Spider-Man. TASM just didn't do it me. I found it very mediocre.

^To be fair to ASM, I found it very average, even dissapointing, on my first watch, but subsequent viewings has made the movie grow on me hugely. That being said, Raimi's first 2 Spidey movies are still better than it for me.

I noticed you gave ASM an 8 out of 10. I'm respectfully curious to know what things 'made the movie grow on you hugely?'

Just re-watching it, I didnt feel any emotion from the movie the first time I saw it, but on subsequent viewings I have, dont know why, I still dont feel enough time was given to Uncle Ben's death and its impact on them as a family, it seemed over too quickly for me, we didnt even see barely any effect on Aunt May, were as in Raimi's movie quite a lot of time was afforded to that.

While I appreciated it on 1st watch anyway, I appreciate even more performances as well, especially from Garfield and Stone. And also, my initial dissapointment at the treatment of the Lizard has dissipated as I now know what to expect from the character.

I think this has to do with the fact that audiences know how it impacted them, and wanted to skip to him being Spider-Man already. Someone mentioned, "what if TASM was the first Spider-Man movie? It would have been different." I think the filmmakers kept in mind that people saw the origin already, so they had to still keep things fresh while re-telling it. But overall, I prefer Raimi's origin story over Webb's. But I think this movie set up a franchise better than SM1 did.

I didn't know how to feel the first time I saw TASM, but I'm sticking with my 8.5/10 rating. After repeat viewings, I knew what to expect, and I actually really enjoy it.

Doug Walker?

for me , i prefer Webb´s before the bite more and the consecuences, by the part when Uncle Ben dies i liked Raimi´s more

Doug Walker, and mostly people I know. What do you mean "consecuences"?

like when he is in his room freaking out and the subway scene, i like it more than the school fight and jumping maskless on rooftops, also i like the argument between Peter and Ben
