I described it better in my first post on the first page.... I am not exactly familiar with your procedures but I guess I see enough warnings on the board to say on the board with a follow up PM to make sure they are aware and not claim they didn't see it in the thread.....

Ok, so who the hell are poster A and B here? Cause thats 2 scenario's straight with the same dudes and the same problem.

We are working on the same case here.

Same issue, just expanded...which is the case with 90% of the problems we have to deal with here.

Scenario #2

Posting pornography on public boards is condemned by the site's rules. However, Hypester B is now claiming that Hypester A is sending him heterosexually-themed porn via PM. Please note that no derrogatory comments are included, but it is a known fact that Hypester A hates gay individuals. Hypester B feels that the harrassment has elevated to a new level and blames you--the moderator--for only choosing to "monitor" the situation from Scenario 1.

How would you mediate the conflict?

KEY NOTE: According to the site's rules, PMs (private messages) are inadmissable for judgement and should not be posted publicly. However, Hypester B has forwarded you the PMs containing porn for proof.

Since the pm is inadmissable, he can't be banned or put on probation. However, I can say he is stalking him now I and have grounds to warn him. I warn him to leave Hypster B alone, and any further action against Hypster B is going to lead to a probationary ban. I give him only one warning for this. If he does anything else, he is put on probation.

EDIT - I tell Hypster B that "I am sorry but my hands are tied and I am doing the best can, and will issue a warning to Hypster B, and any further harassment will lead to him being put on probation."

Scenario 1 and 2 are part of a 3 part Issue, in which you (the contestants) have to mediate the problem from start to finish. We'll release an overall summary of how the situations should have been handled at the end of Part 3. Then you guys can see how you measured up.

Damn......I have like 5 minutes for this....hmmmm

Hypester B could be making the whole story.....if you can't use PM's for judgement....can you even get into their PM to verify that Hype A is sending him PM's? If you can then maybe block PM's from his username....

I say give Hypester B the benefit of the doubt, and give warning to A....and/or block PM's from him....

"A" should be put on probation, no one deserves that kind of treatment, but probation first, since it is in a pm.

Even if I had a screencap of Hypester A's PM in B's PM box, unless the Moderator can physically click on it to reveal A's actual PM, it can't fully be trusted as 100% accurate information.

Scenario #2

Hypester A gets a nice probationary ban from me seeing as how I'd have warned him in Scenario #1. Hypester B PMed me the PMs from Hypester A...therefore they weren't made public. I tell Hypester B that that type of action is frowned upon and not to do it again...and apologize for not warning Hypester A. To clarify the situation I'd post a temporary sticky to ensure Hype posters know there should be zero tolerance when it comes to harassment. Then I'd have a coke, and a smile and shut the eff up.

As far as what Erz suggested about editing another poster's PMs; I'd take into account Hypester B's trust level. If he has no history of scandalous postings then I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

In this case Hypester A is now harrassing Hypster B according to The Hypes rules. In the first scenario I concluded that the moderator should be watching the poster along with other moderators and you would make a judgement call if you find anything inappropriate rather than going off assumptions. Based on this evidence the moderator would now put this poster on probationary ban.

Couldnt the mod just ask the admin to check?
