I thought soda was the country word for pop....lol

lmao......I've never talked like that in my life. AND YOU CAN'T PROVE IT....

Everyone I know calls it pop. Must be an American thing calling it soda.

"I want one them there cold soder-pops". - country

Nah. I see some 'necks here, and most of them say coke. Even the waiters and waitresses have given up on explanations. For example, if a resturant only serves Pepsi product and Johnny asks for a "coke," the waiter doesn't even take the time to explain, they just bring a Pepsi. . . and hope they don't get shot.

I'll spit out butterflies before I ever let an expression like that come out of my mouth. Unless of course, I'm mocking the dip chewin', Confederate flag lovin', good ol' boys of the south.

When I'm in Tennessee, I ask if all they serve is Pepsi.....I KNOW THEIR TRICKS.....and I ain't fallin' for'um......

Ummm. . I love my dip and State flag. . and. . ah. . I think I'm considered a good ol' boy.

And yet I don't talk that way. Accent - yes. But not that way.

:fhm:

I was in Texas and asked if I cold have a soda. The guy gave me a Lone Star.

I've always heard it called "soda" everywhere up north that I've been.

Up North such as Northern states and/or Canada?

I've never been THAT far north. Furthest north I've been is New York :O

I do too....anytime I visit friends in Tennessee I stock up. That stuff got me through college...lol Like Mountain Dew it has enough caffeine in to to equal about 7 Dr. Peppers....lol

I don't think Dr. Pepper actually has any caffine (other then sugar). I'm pretty sure it's like sprite and 7 up and doesn't actually contain any

We should map out what states and what areas call which what... I know pop is pretty random, Ohio, New York, Minnesota (which you'd think would say soda).

Heh, I never really looked closely at a US map but I drove the whole Eastern side between Maine and Florida (twice) and I always thought NY was more in the middle of the states. Damn GPS.

Midwest and Canada refer to it as pop, something I just recently learned. We have transplants here in the Chicago area and as soon as you hear someone call it "soda" you know they're not a real Chicagoan.

When I lived up North, it was pop. When I moved down south, it's soda. "Pop" sounds silly to me now; I think of it like what a bubble does when you touch it, not a carbonated beverage.

But I guess it doesn't matter, because I don't drink soda/pop.
