This movie as I understand it is about a young Goku. So in my opinion it should be call Dragon Ball Z it should be just Dragon Ball. Cause I doubt they are going to show him as a super saiyan. I hope I'm wrong though. I see the innocent face but can he pull off the game face of goku also? I never saw hi films, if anyone did maybe they can judge and tell us if they think he can pull off the game face

I'm looking on the bright side, maybe the Rifftrax guys will riff on it when it hits video a few months (or less) down the line.

Seriously, I think this is one of those properties that if it's not CGI or at least animated, then there's really no sense in making it.

Looking at the cast i think the movie will be based on the last episodes of Dragon Ball and not DBZ. It's a fairly young actor, chatwin which definetly works as the teenage goku and mardsen could fit the piccolo character.

I think we will see an intense martial arts with cool sfx film, hopefully with a good story.

I thought they would cast more fuller guys but i guess they'll hit the gym then altough i don't expect them to be as big as the show.

I'm a purist when it comes to Dragonball Z and I'm having a VERY hard time coping with the fact that they are creating a live-action movie. I just feel its stories are too fantastical to be a live movie.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong. At first I was totally again Chatwin against Goku namely because I have no idea who he is but after looking at the manip, its not bad.

I just wonder how they'll have the hair style.

I think akira toriyama will deny this film's existence much like he does Dragon Ball GT

I think the cast is good enough. Honestly I never could have imagined Chatwin landing Goku, that's so unexpected, but I think it CAN work. I imagine this movie will be hyper stilized so the look of the fights should be close enough to the cartoon. The show was kind of whack, but it's not like it can't be adapted into a movie. With today's technology, I don't see the problem. It will just be a matter of how WACK the filmmakers want the movie to be. I think we're in for a treat. There's no point in calling it a failure this early in the game.

Possibly. But I thought Vegeta was mentioned in a brief synopsis for the film, so maybe it will also include some of the earlier episodes of DBZ, too:

Well, I'm not sure really. We have yet to get the full cast anyway, so we'll see if Vegeta is in it or not.

Every movie I've seen Chatwin in, he was terribly mediocre. War of The Worlds, Chumscrubber, and The Invisible. He has no big physical prescence or Machismo that a role like Goku would require.

All I see are pics of a metro looking 25 year old guy that doesn't look anything like Goku.

Making this into a live action movie is one of the stupidest ideas ever. Not to mention it's being directed by the guy who did schlock like THE ONE and FINAL DESTINATION 1 and 3.

I dunno, it's arguable. Countries nationalities are never strictly established in DBZ. Goku himself is an archetype based on Japanese folklore. The original story was based on the fables of Son Goku and his quests.

But you know DBZ ain't Harry Potter, and DBZ doesn't really work in live action.

DBZ anime I think seldom holds up anymore. It's quite stupid and ridiculous at times.

DBZ kind of got me into anime, but looking back on it, its really not that great and it won't translate well into live action.

Not to mention that the director is a hack.

THAT part of the casting is not bad, since it is based on DragonBall not DBZ, but Goku IS the Japanese Superman... IMO it would be more appropiate if it was a Japanese/asian actor doing it...

Jet Li would've been great for Vegeta 10 years ago..

You REALLY don't understand the character at all, do you Vile One? Of course he scowls, grunts, yells and fights, he is a FIGHTER! But he isn't Vegeta. He is happy first, assumes the best of people and all those other things I listed.

I only saw him in War of the Worlds and he wasn't bad. He isn't going to win an Oscar anytime soon but he didn't bring me out of the movie like a REAL bad actor.
