Action-Adventure Sonic 3... and Shadow

Action movies and adventure films.
:cool::cool:

I see it in 4 hours....I NEED TO INJECT THIS INTO MY VEINS!

Also 63 reviews in and its sitting at a solid 87% on RT.....this might get 100% on the Audience side XD

I can't think of too many film franchises where they naturally get better each time out. My hope is that Sonic can keep that tradition going.

That said, there is still that whole dorky humor and juvenile humor aspect. The good news is that the humans are kept to a minimum and most of the comedy goes through the Robotniks.

Thankfully they kept Maddie's annoying sister and her husband to a minimum as well.

Easily the best of the three in the trilogy. It's ramps up the antie of action. I love Shadow, (Keanu Reeve) gave an exceptional performance. Jim Carrey continues to shine as Robotnic. I was a kid in the candy store with absolute delight with all the Easter eggs in the film and 3rd act is chief kiss perfection. Highly recommended for all.

Did we get Omachao being an obnoxious guide? 🥹

I guess simplifying how Gerald gets his revenge makes sense, but no BioLizard. Damn.

Amy tease was expected.

It was a miracle that movie did well after IT...

It's crazy to think but the whole infamous ugly Sonic may have been the best thing to happen to the film franchise. When that very first trailer dropped people were tearing down not just the design but how generic and corny the movie seemed. Then there was a complete turnaround when they released, correct me if I'm wrong, virtually the same teaser but with the updated Sonic and suddenly everyone was raving that the movie looked fun lol. It felt like after that, there was this propulsive momentum from the fans that probably wouldn't have been as loud if Sonic looked good from the start, because them fans were in a situation where they felt heard.

And good on them because we got an awesome Sonic 2. From the looks of it, it may have carried over to 3 as well.

It was a huge gamble that paid off. When you attempt to appease fans like that, sometimes it still utterly fails. This worked in everyone's favor. It proved they were listening and took the feedback to heart. No one liked that original ugly Sonic design. Even the defenders could barely justify how bad it looked. Changing Sonic's design saved the movie. It's undeniable at this point. It gave the film the momentum it needed to succeed.

Imagine two other movies with Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow resembling Sonic the Man-Hog.

SEGA should know redesigns for them never work... Sonic Boom.

One thing I do like about those particular designs is that they actually have proportionally sized hands, arms and legs to the rest of their bodies that work with their movements animation. They look relatively normal.

If you’ve seen some of those early 2000’s in-game models and their animations…hoo boy, they do not work and hold up at all. Their hands are too big and stiff and clip through their models, their arms and legs are too thin and awkward, and their eyes are dead and lip movements do not match to the English recordings.

New Frame Plus on YouTube put it best, it’s like watching those people in those theme park employees walking around in those lifeless full character costumes. There’s just that uncanniness that is so unsettling and offputting.

Having not actually watched the first two films until this past weekend in anticipation for this one, it is very interesting how a simple design change completely changes the perception of the first film. Makes a lot of the same generic nonsense we see in those types of film just a little bit more charming.

That's their charm though.

I will never forgive Adventure 2 of getting rid of the classic Sonic jumping sound.

Some of the Robotnik stuff greatly detracts from the film and is distracting (that *one* scene in particular stands out), but my god did I love the rest of it.

The action was awesome as hell, and everything involving Sonic and Shadow was peak. Keanu was so so good. Everything about Shadow was pitch perfect. Got some tears out of me. Couldn't be happier coming out of the theater.

Just like the prior two, this was a really good time. These films aren't Shakespeare but are just fun solidly entertaining times at the movies.

This was my favorite Jim Carrey performance of these three movies. You can tell he was having a blast doing this one. The man does not phone it in.

The action is very well done and I like the stakes just kept getting upped in the third act.

I WILL say, and this may be controversial, I sometimes tire of Ben Schwartz's schtick as Sonic. Schwartz is charming but I've always felt since the first movie that Sonic should have a bit more...I don't...attitude? Spunk? Wit? I always pictured Sonic the Hedgehog as the edgy Bart Simpson of video games and these movies definitely made him more cutesy and i toyally get why. I just wish Schwartz gave Sonic a bit more edge, is all. His whole “I’ve got a GREAT idea…..OH NO THIS WAS A BAD IDEA!” thing gets kind of unfunny

But then again these things are for kids so :funny:

But I wanted a mutant lizard dammit.

Movie didn't have the courage to kill off the human character. Clearly holding back the action. You had one job Shadow.
