Yeah Got to say this looks better than the 1st one. Not saying the 1st one was bad at all I really liked it.

I can’t remember the last time a film franchise adapting a beloved, popular property went from “Make some references, but play it safe” for the first one to “THIS IS A VIDEOGAME!!!!” for the direct sequel so quickly. It’s like going from Iron Man to The Avengers. (Not plotwise; that would be dumb.)

Not complaining at all, though. This looks like a blast.

This kind of reminds me of the posters for Spider-Man 2. The hero(es) dramatically posing amidst sun-kissed landscape, which just screams “This is going to be epic!!!” You just don’t see posters quite like this anymore.

Uh, question. Not sure if I'm missing some context here, but why is Sonic driving a car?

In the first movie the conceit was that he needed Tom to Drive him around because he didn't know exactly where he was going because he didn't know the US and didn't have a good sense of the terrain. I guess the movie will explain it better in this case?

But yeah fair point. The only issue is I think we are missing the context.

Might be one of the best movie posters in the last 10 years TBH

Well crap....they make the Winter Soldier quip actually make sense

Yeah I kind of agree. A lot of posters in recent years I've found very lacking. This one is really good. I think they should've done more stuff like this for the first movie.

A lot of them, or at least the big budget films, having been following the Marvel formant...and honestly MOST Marvel posters are meh at best.

The OG Sonic while iconic for what it started, as a game seems kinda meh and bland and when Sonic 2 came out it really built the foundation for what the series would become. People often forget that you cant do the Spin Dash in the OG game. The first game built the foundation...even if it was kinda simple and vanilla and then the sequel aim for the stars (figuratively and literally)

I feel the movies are following the same path...in a way. The first movie was simple. It established who Sonic is as a character. His relationship with Robotnik, Tom and Maddie. And now with the sequel they can go crazy with all the game stuff.

Sonic 2 is an amazing game, but you can't knock the OG Sonic like that. That was a game-changer for SEGA and making the original Sonic game the Genesis/Megadrive pack-in completely shifted direction of the console wars and gave SEGA a much bigger share of the marketplace that Nintendo had largely been dominating for years. Since Sonic 1 was the pack-in with the Genesis, it ultimately sold 15 million copies.

If you look at that original Sonic trilogy, all three were really big game-changer titles and broke the mold in their own way. Sonic 3 you had that unique design where it was like Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. So it was almost like the pre-cursor to DLC.

Enjoyed the new trailer, Knuckles looks a force to be reckoned with but I like that Sonic is getting some hits in as well it shouldn't be a one sided fight.

I love the OG game, and what it started and how it success for SEGA can not be quantified...but as a game. Man but Marble, Scrap Yard and Labyrinth are a bit of slog(love GH and Starlight is a bop). Now this is probably just because of the fact that the first video game I ever owned and beaten was Sonic 2 back in the early/mid 90s. But yes each game did progress further and further.
