One thing to take with the early reactions is that 95% of the time they're always positive.

We should be getting a better idea of thins on Monday when the Review Embargo lifts. Though it is nice to see that kids are into it, as they are the main demographic of the film, as well as adults.

Also nice to hear that the strongest act is the 3rd act, because that's often where these movies slip up.

Also as expected there seems to be a mid and post screen stinger. Time to place the bets for ether Metal or Shadow.

Also I got the 7th off to see a late afternoon screening and then im seeing it again with a buddy on Friday.

First movie got a 63 on RT. What do you guys think the second movie will get? I am going to guess 70.

So, I was browsing just random stuff related to the last movie, and I remembered that old concept poster with this design for Sonic, before we got that weird gremlin monstrosity. In retrospect, what are your guys’ thoughts on it?

Honestly, I don’t mind it. I even kind of dig it. It’s like the artist was going for a version of the classic Sonic design that wouldn’t look super out of place in the real world (with realistic fur, textures, ears, proportions, etc), but still recognizably looks like the character without coming across as creepily uncanny like the one we almost got. It’s almost like a happy medium between the old design and the current one.

I love what we have now, but if this was the direction they went with Sonic and all of the other eventual characters, I wouldn’t have been mad.

His legs look a little less realistic which helps with the design.

Maybe with more cartoonish limbs it would have worked well.

Paul Rudd would have been kinda fun.

Review Embargo is up. Seems to be mixed to positive. Variety said it spent too much time with Sonic. XD

Most reviewers seem to understand that its a genre film so thats good i guess.

Seems like the Sonic Fandom will love it, one of their fansites gave it a 9/10

Variety seemed to miss the point there. That's like complaining Alf gets too much screen time on his show.

I mean, people are watching this for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman, because I know I am. Especially Tails for me. Sonic already got his first movie, now it's time for the team-up with Tails!

If anything, the movie focusing less on the human characters should be a good thing. Means focusing on the main trio (and Robotnik) will be more of a highlight.

The human characters were the worst part about the first movie to me. I'd be fine if the next movie isn't even set on Earth.

I will be seeing it this weekend.

I'm of a similar mind. Depending on the execution, this could make the sequel an even better experience to me now that they are focusing more on the iconic characters.

I feel like the 1990s cartoon proved you can do a semi-serious action-adventure story starring Sonic and his pals, with very few humans (If you count Robotnik and Snively as human). That cartoon was a lot of kids' gateway into Sonic at the time.
