Well. Goddamn. Hope Paramount sticks the landing with these. And I love that Idris Elba has gotten so deep into Knuckles' character, it's kind of wholesome to see lol

Color scheme for the third one makes me think they'll finally introduce Metal Sonic into the mix. Either him or Shadow.

I think that Metal is gunna be the Secret Final Boss of Movie 2 and they go Shadow for 3

Because as much Metal make sense...Shadow is the money maker. Plus there have been rumors that the teaser is Shadow in the tube.

Depending on when they do the Knuckles show; that would be a great way to introduce Rouge

I think the Knuckles show is my favourite news out of this, however we don't P+ here in the UK yet so god knows how I will watch it but I will find a way. Love Elba coming back for the show as well.

Based on Shadow's overall popularity I'm leaning toward him. But it could be Metal but at the same time Metal is just an enforcer type character. He doesn't have the same story driven character that Shadow does.

Of course another big question is this: What about Amy?

Saw someone online propose a story idea for “Sonic 3” where G.U.N. approaches Sonic to work for them for saving the world from Robotnik, but refuses, so G.U.N. decides to make a “Sonic” of their own, in the form of Shadow. Meanwhile, Robotnik would make his own “Sonic”, but entirely mechanical; thus, Metal Sonic. So, “Sonic 3” wouldn’t just be the title of the film, but also refer to the “3 Sonics”.

I quite like the idea.

Wouldn't that entirely modify Shadow's backstory though? I feel like that's a huge part of his character. You'd also have to wonder if they would bring Maria into it since she plays into his development.

You could still do some version of the original origin. Maybe Shadow was created decades ago to help find a cure for Maria, but then shuttered for being too dangerous. G.U.N. then revives him, thinking they can control him, only for him to go rogue.

Or G.U.N. finds old notes/research/DNA in cold storage, and they create their version. Maybe through some scientific shenanigans using “biological programmin” or whatever, Shadow has random flashes of a previous life where he befriended this young sickly girl named Maria in a lab, and learns of his creation by Gerald Robotnik, Ivo’s grandfather, to help treat her illness, which was unsuccessful. The conflict: deciphering his “old” memories and desire to not want to hurt or kill anyone, or obeying his creator to destroy Sonic. Basically, the Winter Soldier if he were created in a lab.

Or, you could do some combo of the two. Just some thoughts.

Sonic CD is something of a fever dream to me. Growing up in the 90s i didn't know a single sole who had it. The whole Time Stones Good/Bad Future gimick doesn't feel like it could fit in a movie.

But at the end of the day I guess all you need to do is rip Stardust Speedway and thats it.

I saw that idea. And honesty its not a bad idea.

Shadow's origin is iconic because of how iconic SA2 was.

I do think there is some wiggle room with the current movie canon that they include Gerald, Maria and the Ark. Jimbotnik said he was an orphan, maybe in this timeline the reason he's an orphan was because his family was onboard the ARK. What if instead of Maria being his cousin, what if Maria was his mother?

In the end we'll have to see how S2 plays out. I have money on Metal being the final boss fight of the movie.

I would wager more people nowadays that played CD either got the Christian Whitehead version, or through Sonic Gems Collection. But yeah, a race through Stardust Speedway is all that you'd need. It's the most memorable part of the game and all that most people remember about it.

Last time we got a new poster we got a trailer so who knows.

Though I do see some folks online frustrated that Colleen's name isn't on the poster.
