Spider-Man 4 in May 2011

Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin told theater owners on Thursday that Spider-Man 4 is tentatively being scheduled for a May 2011 release. She also confirmed that screenwriter James Vanderbilt has yet to turn in a final screenplay, but she insisted that Sony Pictures is very hopeful that they will be on track for 2011.

Director Sam Raimi has yet to commit to the project, and told press earlier this month that he is “excited to read” the screenplay, and is “hoping it’s as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right”. No stars are signed on to the project, however Sony has publicly insisted that they want to bring Tobey Maguire back for the fourth film. I still wonder if the script and money will be enough to bring the original team back to the fold. JK Simmons has said that the studio has recently checked in with his agents to say they want him back for a sequel, and he’s ready to return if Raimi is still involved.

That would put Spidey against the last Harry Potter movie, and Captain America, if they keep the intended dates... That's looking for trouble, IMO

2011? Christ, their contract is gonna be running up soon (2015 IIRC?), there probably only gonna be able to pop at two more movies at the most.

Meh give them to Marvel already!

Why would that be trouble, there's always gonna be competition with almost any release date? May of 2011 is a great release date, I'm just glad they're not gunning for 2010.
Meh give them to Marvel already!
Keep dreaming thinking Sony is gonna give a multi-billion dollar franchise back to Marvel.

Against the last Harry Potter? that's a tough one...

And going against Cap America would be plain evil...

If they're making 4 and 5 back to back ala Lord of the Rings ,then 2011 makes sense .

No **** Vis, you don't think I dont know that? :o:whatever:
You even quoted me in another topic about me saying that I doubt Sony is gonna give up there beloved cash cow.

Going against Pirates and Shrek was tough too, and I take it Marvel would just move Captain America's release date. Plus, a 4th of July weekend for Captain "America" would more more fitting.

I'll cry the day Marvel gets Spidey back, if ever.

Tears of JOY!

Then stop saying it, this whole give Spider-Man and X-Men to Marvel Studios is the new "REBOOT IT" battle cry from geeks.

Those eyes will be dry for a very long time. :p

I think Vis is thinking humiliation, kind of like how you humiliated him.

Marvel's not going to like that... they better be thinking Memorial Day, not trying to budge Cap's date.

I think that release date is perfect for Captain America and to be honest, I think that's what they'll go with, though, obviously anything can happen.

'11? I was hoping for '10 myself. Wishful thinking I guess.:csad: Well, I'd rather get a great Spidey 4 in '11 than a meh Spidey 4 in '10.

wow . . 2011 . . that's kinda far, but if u think about it, it gives them more time to think through it and make the movie better

James Vanderbilt hasn't hadned in a script yet and he probably won't for a couple of more months, so if you ask me, I think it makes sense that it's going to come out in 2011.

Well I predicted that would be the case as there was no way it was gonna' make 2010. And in all honesty, despite the disappointment surrounded around SM3...give SMs4 a new look (even if they keep the same cast) and a kickass trailer and the general audience will hype to see it. But this one will have to fight to cross $300 million, I imagine. And if one movie should be worried, I'm going to honestly say Captain America will the one who might end up moving. I predict though that Avengers will get pushed to 2012 and either Cap or SM4 will take its July 4th spot.

Yea i was just reading this over at latino review. It is probably a good move to let spidey sit for a bit to get things moving at a good pace and let everyone get a good product going. But woh knows it could end up coming in 10 or 11 it all really counts on when filming actually starts.
