Spider-man 3.1 finally?!

A mistake makes little sense. A place like Amazon gets it's product info from legitimate sources. I could believe a product description being duplicated from another release (happens a lot on Amazon), but this clearly ain't one of those times.

The repetition of the "3.1" title in the description, along with marketing blurbs that talk about it in more detail precludes it from being fake or a mistake. Now, Japan exclusive? Planned for this release but then pulled? Those would make sense and are possible.

But for the info to be completely wrong? No conceivable chance. This isn't some kind of rumor. It's from a legit source. Keep in mind that these boxed sets haven't been officially announced yet (Except for Japan, it seems), and the info we do have about the US/EU/CA versions of these boxed sets line up with that Japanese product description (same number of discs, same collection names). As far as these things go, it's prettymuch a lock.

I don't disagree anywhere here my friend, though I'm trying to maintain some healthy skepticism. Sony have repackaged this series a million times with no upgrades. SM3.1 is a bit too dream-come-true for me to get too excited at this point.

Yep, exactly my feelings. It seems real, but too good to be true.

There are 3 sets being promoted in various countries....

Spider-Man Origins -- SM 1-3...............This seems to be in Digi-book format for USA
Spider-Man Evolution ASM 1-2..............Ditto
Spider-Man Legacy -- all five movies

And also it looks like all the sets will have UHD 4K versions beyond the Blu-ray releases.

Both say out of stock, unfortunately. Definitely interested in picking them up though.

in reality they are new releases and the pre-orders are not yet ready. They are certainly not "out of stock" as they say on some retailers sites -- as it is a completely new thing that never has had any prior release.

That's what I was thinking. Just saw it's releasing 6/13/17

The Canadian Amazon pre-orders are up for Origins (SM1-3) and Evolution (ASM1-2) -- but with zero description except 4 discs and 3 discs respectively.
Both also for June 13.

But until we get an actual press release it's still just rumor as far as I'm concerned. We really need that press release and quick if they want to stick with the June 13 date. That's 44 days. Not often is a Blu-ray 44 days from release date and zero word from the studio and only a few retailers spilling the beans.

Every day that goes by without an announcement of the 3.1 cut is a day closer to it being bad info/mistake.

It's obvious that they will release the previous Spider-Man movies to tie in with the new movie and it's also obvious that they will release those movies on UHD 4K disc as well since they have already been re-mastered at 4K resolution and will require no major work, but.................

the 3.1 cut is a big deal.....a major selling point....something both fans who like and dislike SM3 will probably be very interested in seeing and it logically it's something they would want to hype and tout as a major extra -- not basically ignore till the last minute in an 11th hour --

"Oh by the way, we had Raimi re-cut SM3 and we're throwing it into this latest 'cash in on the newest movie, release' ", press blurb.

It makes zero sense for them to NOT be promoting the hell out of this.

I'm climbing out on what I think is a pretty solid limb and saying if this cut and this release(s) is not announced by Friday May 5 -- it's not coming out.

There are a ton of misspellings in the info, and the running time of 3.1 is closer to the running time of SM2.1. We'll see....

It is strange no official announcement has come for this.

That's a translation from Japanese.

Even so, I'm getting more skeptical of this every day.

Edit: other sites such as "Spider-Man News" (?) are picking up on this but as their "source" they are using the same Japanese Amazon pre-order description and now they are starting up a rumor about an Amazing Spider-Man 2.1 (zero idea where they got that from)

Only thing for certain are new Blu-ray releases for SM 1-3 ASM 1-2 and a UHD 4K release from Best Buy for all 5 movies.

Those items have pre-orders up and UPC codes assigned and all are to be released on June 13, 2017

Any news extras are pure rumor unless you want to believe that Japan Amazon description -- and that's not enough for me.
Really hoping for it though.

Yeah I am hoping this is true but the longer we get no news the more likely this is not true. With this being said to come out in June and with Home coming in July you would think by now we would have news about if this is happening or not and I would also think with the new sets that we would also get a coupon for like 8 towards a ticket for seeing home coming to. I don't like rebuying this but if I could get the movies in 4k and with 3.1 I would maybe buy them again because 4k looks amazing and I have been dying for 3.1 for years.

Actually all the releases are scheduled for June 13 in the USA.

The Best Buy "Legacy" UHD 4K set and the Blu-rays "Digibooks" from Wal-mart and other retailers are all due June 13.

They will surely make a quickie announcement for the re-releases of the existing cuts, but re-cuts of the movies would have been leaked and touted and hyped by now to drum up attention. Pretty much everything that is due out on June 13 has already announced already with a press release. For example, the UHD 4K release of King Kong 2005 has already been made with a July 11 release date.

Why would Sony wait so long to announce something due in mid-June -- ?especially if it had something exciting like a new cut.

I'm hoping that the Legacy collection will have all 6 films (SM1-3, 3.1 and TASM 1-2).

Well if you are counting 3.1 as a separate movie then 2.1 would make 7 movies.
And I am hoping the same about the Legacy. My fervent hope that it has all five movies -- plus both alternate versions. If the 3.1 is on a Blu-ray rather than a UHD -- that's fine with me. But to have all the movies in one UHD set is my absolute best case scenario.

Right what I mean is Sony has yet to official come out with a press release saying if these are going to be the same movies with the same special features or if there is going to be something new with them or not and don't have art work either from a press release.

I was just responding to something in your post about October. But as you say, NO statement on a release that is coming out in 42 days and has an exciting new feature such as an alternate cut? :loco:

I didn't say any thing about October though?

Actually you did in post #65.

Must have been a typo on your part.

Oh ok yeah I did and yeah it was a typo my bad. I went back and looked at that before I did my last posted and still didn't see that and was thinking what is he talking about lol.

As long as we're talking Legacy, how about a Blu-ray extra with Spidey's film debut? Who doesn't want to see villainous Spidey get freaky deaky while sentient dolls watch him? :o
