Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 3

Maybe that was a bad example by me. But what I mean is that they could have at least fit ONE more 616 villain in the story. I guess the main problem is the development time, but I have a feeling that the cloned Black Cat 2099 for example won't have that much of an important role in the game that they couldn't have swapped her for someone more exciting. Sure it's all about opinion, some people may think it will be exciting to face off against Black Cat 2099 but I just think there could have been someone else. I don't know how involved she is, but all I feel is a big "meh" about her.

I agree. I do feel "meh" about Black Cat and her clones. But I wonder if they put her there to contrast with Miguel interacting with Mary Jane in Act II or something.

I personally would have loved to see minor villains. You are a rich corporate guy, who does some dirty business, you'll have probably hired some thugs to guard your stuff. That way someone like Taskmaster or the Spot could have been used just fine.

But my point still kinda stands, doesn't it? Like, say instead of cloned Black Cat (I don't really know the context of this, haven't read any story spoilers) it was a cloned Electro, or a Cloned Lizard, would it really make a difference other than a superficial one?

If you really wanted your favourite characters done justice, you'd need a story crafted around them, not crowbarred into one. The story idea for this game is what interested me, and the main hook always seemed to me to be the dynamic and relationship between the two Spideys... Since i love both iterations of the character, that sounded fine, I don't NEED villains to get a true Spidey experience, if the title character/s are actually done justice.

Spot or even Hydro-Man could have been awesome.

I do agree, we don't see minor villains too often anymore. I remember USM, where you could beat up Shocker or Boomerang if you wanted to.

Those were too minor though. Minor to the point of just being random encounters.

I don't mean it should be another villain who's cloned. Just skip the whole clone thing. Sure I can't tell for sure now, but what I mean is that I have a feeling that this whole thing about the cloned Black Cat 2099 is a crowbarred thing just to have a female villain. I have nothing against having some female characters in the game. I love the inclusion of MJ. I loved the inclusion of Black Cat in SM2. But I think in this game, they could have done something more exciting. Some people here say that there aren't many villains that would fit this story concept anyway. But I don't see in any way how Black Cat would, and not someone like Hydro-Man for example. Sure it's a matter of taste, but I think there are many many more exciting possibilities with someone like Hydro-Man in a game like this than Black Cat.

I agree with alot of what you say. I don't want my favourite villains to just be tossed into a game. But it's hard for me to see how they couldn't fit someone more exciting into the story.

EDIT: I hope you don't mind my overuse of "exciting" haha, I'm not good enough in English to vary my language :P

I just think it's weird that there are so few boss battles. I wasn't gonna get this game day one anyway, and it can still hopefully get some good reviews. I mean even if people complained about the amount of bosses/the way the showed up in SD it was still one of the most well liked things how great these battles were. (I didn't care about story in SD, for the record. I saw it as pure fan service and enjoyed the heck out of it.)

Thats what makes it weird to me. A story can be changed, and especially in games they re-write them all the time to fit in new things so I can suspend my disbelief that there just happens to be more villains roaming the halls of Alchemax. But still, it isn't the most important stuff about the game and I think they've done some interesting things with Spider-Man.

And another point, granted this is just speculation. Another Spidey game is probably right around the corner of being announced (probably the movie-game), or let's say they started working on a bigger Spidey project when they got the exclusive deal. (Despite Activisions one-game-per-studio deal.) Then they've might have just looked at EoT as a middle game, a way to perfect their craft. Saving some of the bigger bangs for another game.

Tomas Wilson, the director of SD for one, haven't showed up at all during EoTs development, and he still works at Beenox. And they have a total of over 300 employees as well. Now this is surely for porting and the likes but whatever. Some wishful thinking on my end.

I finished inFamous today. Throughout the game, I think I had 3 major boss fights. It was still a great game. So once again, if Edge of Time delivers a great story and gameplay, I'll have no problem dropping the cash.

We'll see if they announce The Amazing Spider-Man game at NYCC on October 15th.

I'm betting that they will announce the movie game in a couple of weeks.

The first 30 minutes in HD.

Lol, loved the musical joke.

Was that J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson?

For a second it did, but I don't think so.

Also, I heard Walker Sloan bring up the mysterious CEO. He said once he's done with his plan he won't have anything to say about it. :ninja:

Hmm I love what I see in that 30 min vid. I might actually overlook the lack of 616 villains. Sloan is a very cool villain afterall, I love his dialogue with his programmed assistant.

I tried not to watch the entire 30 minutes. Skipped through the video, watched a few seconds here and there.

I have now no problem with Doc Ock's b**chy attitude, if they work the angle that Sloan is responsible for him never becoming Doctor Octopus in the first place. Sloan has been altering time since the 1970, so he could have hired Octavius, thus preventing the accident that turned him into a super villain.

Yeah I thought about the same thing which is completely fine IMO

That actually looks great. I'm gonna get this down the road, probably when the first price-drop hits. Oh and I didn't watch the whole things, skipped a little here and there. At what time does

Doc Ock appear?

And I think JJJ is voiced by Daran Norris, he voiced him in Spectacular.

I think I'll give the game a chance, looks kinda decent in gameplay
Still not fond of the final boss spoiler

Both the start of this game with SM2099 and the Start of BM:AA are boring long marches, at least this one is better in the aspect of giving us a tour in Alchemax 2099 before the time change.

I don't think this will be even an equal to BM:AA, don't ride my back about it

I don't expect it to be as good as AA. But it looks damn fine to me, the way they present the story.

So how long is this game? Reports said 6 hours but that seems awfully short.

EDIT: So, do anyone know if there actually is some stealth present? The humor and Spidey-ness seems to be there at least and thats one important aspect.

I don't think there will be any kind of stealth in the way it was in Spider-Man Noir in SD. But at least Spidey sneaks around abit in the ventiles.

Six hours seem fair for the game, and the story, considering development time

First part with SM2099 is stealth

Yeah, that game looks like it could be a lot of fun. The purchase requirements for me though would be re playability and game length

Every time I look at Miguel web swinging in his opening cutscene I see a homage to the final swing from the first movie

Toys R Us is selling it for 45 bucks. I bought it there and printed my receipt. I'll keep it in the plastic until I read some reviews. If it's good, I'll open it. If it isn't, I'll return it for the full price back.

I'm so smart :awesome:
