Comics Spider-Man February 2007 Solicitations

Still...that's a long time without dropping the Cosby kids off at the pool. :wow:

You know, from that solict from Sensation Spider-Man, it sounds like we've got ANOTHER case of Spider-Man clones on our hands, this time courtesy of Tony Stark and his 50 state initative. And considering how Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man talks is picking up the "evil Uncle Ben from the parallel universe" story again after the "Deb Whittman tell-all book" story, it sounds like "evil Uncle Ben" may be the guy responsible for sicing the Vulture on Spider-Man in that story. Also, what if Spidey is wearing the black costume NOT because MJ died (which I doubt they'd do because even Joe Q said he didn't want to go that route) but rather in mourning of a death of another hero--not Goliath--who will die in Civil War, perhaps...[blackout]Captain America[/blackout]

I put the pics above the solicits that coincide with them. FNSM didn't have a cover shown yet, the third one is of the Spider-Family one.

I agree with everyone who has said that the SSM cover is badass. I'll definately be picking that up, and possibly FNSM if only for Sandman and answers to all that's been going on in that title.
Oops. My mistake. That last cover seemed an awful lot like Wieringo.

I doubt that. Isn't it all but confirmed he'll be leading one of the two teams of Avengers post-CW?

Yes, but how do you know that Captain America will be Steve Rogers after Civil War? Maybe he'll be replaced by Bucky? (Geez, that would get Cap's fans panties in a bunch now would it?) Plus, let's say if Cap does die in Civil War, say when Atlantis invades and Cap defends his country and very people he disagrees with with regards to Civil War, then Marvel gets the point that "you can still disagree with you country and still be a patriot" and that "Cap believed in fighting for his country even when the country abandoned him" etc. But hey, maybe I'm wrong about Cap dying, but it certainly would fit into the idea that Spidey--who respects Cap--would wear a black costume to mourn over what happened in Civil War.

I seriously doubt they'll kill Cap off. He's too much of a symbol and icon to Marvel. And his book has been becoming more popular, and they can't afford to lose a good selling book.

Not only that, but it usually isn't Marvel's style to do stuff like that (as one person suggested) - killing off long-standing and popular characters and having someone else fill their shoes (at least not for any lengthy period of time). That whole 'legacy' thing is more DC's angle.

It certainly didn't stop DC from killing off Superman a few years back, and he without question is an even bigger symbol and icon. Not to mention Spider-Man. Maybe Marvel is banking on Cap's book becoming even more popular if it appears that the major character in that book is killed off. Of course, they could have a thing where the whole world thinks Cap is dead but really wasn't, that while everyone thinks they see Cap die, we the readers know he's alive, and as a result, goes underground with Winter Soldier taking up the costume while Steve recovers from his injuries. And this is Joe Quesada we are talking about here. He certainly is quite capable of pulling off a stunt like this if only to make Civil War have more of an impact and have "long-reaching consequences" afterwards. However, I do have my doubts about Marvel killing off Cap as well, but then again....

Well, Marvel has replaced popular characters and had them someone fill their shoes as well for brief periods of time: Thor with Eric Masterson (Thunderstrike), Tony Stark (Iron Man) with Jim Rhodes (War Machine), Peter Parker with Ben Reilly, and Steve Rogers with USAgent. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch for Winter Soldier to temporailly take up the mantle of Captain America, especially if Cap is somehow incapacitated and he has Nick Fury's backing.

This is a good point, and IIRC that's one of the best selling arcs of all time.

This is true, but for some reason I was more thinking along the lines of the more long-standing changes that DC is known for and Marvel isn't - replacing Barry Allen with Wally West, or having Dick Grayson, then Jason Todd, then Tim Drake take up the mantle of Robin.

Dunno why I got myself in the mindset of those kinds of quo changes, but yeah. A temporary change is definitely plausible.

me too! *waits for high five*

Once again, Amazing seems to be the least exciting of the three.

My guess towards FNSM is that Sandman just kills the alternate Uncle Ben.

As for Sensational (which really is btw),

clones

I like Sensational best, high five for the bowl movements.
I sometimes use a wizard interview w/ Joe Quesada for toilet paper afterwards.

One of my top 5 ever arcs!
Spidey Saves The Day!

39 is a good age to have amassed the full run of ASM.
I hope I get there, we'll see in 12 years..

That issue reminds me I want the bust statue of that cover, it rules.
