The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Gets a Set of Parents and Another Villain

There's nothing anyone can do about it. Sony officially has the rights until they give them up or Disney finds some way to break the contract (which they want to do btw)

Which is why Sony are putting in actual effort to come correct with these movies this time round. Sony aren't dumb enough to give up their sacred cow to Disney before their ownership expires. Trust me, these new movies are going to be a completely different beast than the sony/raimi efforts.

sony's last movie made the most money so I'm not sure they are falling over themselves to change anything.

Money isn't the issue. Spidey will always make money. It's the quality. If Sony dropped SM3 in 2012, Disney would be laughing their asses off at how they'll immediately be well within their rights to snatch back the rights.

the money rights have nothing to do with quality.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm talking about.

The contract is up after the 6th film that is made based off Spider-Man. It has nothing to do with quality, and the notion Sony wasn't trying to make good Spider-Man movies before but will do so now to keep the rights is stupid. The contract is up after film 6, regardless of the film's quality. Marvel will not renew it. Disney is getting it either way. Thus, Sony will want to maximize the series as best they can monetarily, and that doesn't necessarily mean making a good movie.

If Disney feel the movies are being mismanaged they can force Sony into breaching the contract and thus get the rights long before 2017 or when ever the rights return back to Disney.

If the contract is up after 6 films, I really don't know as I haven't read any news about this, then what is the point of doing another trilogy? If that is true, then I think this trilogy will be the middle child of the group that no one will care about. It kind of sucks thinking that there might be three different Peter Parkers within a two decade time frame. You know Marvel/Disney isn't going to use 27 year old Andrew Garfield, who will be nearly 40 by the time Marvel/Disney start their Spidey movies. What if Andrew is an amazing Spider-Man and Sony wanted to shoot 3 and 4 back to back? This is basically putting a creative cap on this trilogy. They won't re-use villains in the Raimi franchise as it has been too soon but they can only make 3 films. What if they were going to use Doc Ock in the 4th movie? Ugh.

All I know is I was super excited about this reboot up until "Van Atter" was added to mix, who might turn into some villain no one ever heard of and no one wants to hear of.

Of all the classic iconic villians, of all the storylines, they could have potentially chose "Proto Goblin."

It's really a slap if true, it just makes my stomach turn, how I had all this energy and excitement, filming starting already, awaiting to see the suit, etc, etc,... and then some actor is cast who apparently could give a rats ass about the role, for a villain.... called..... Proto Goblin..... .... . .

.... ...

..

Proto Goblin.... ....

All I can do is lol at you. You blame Raimi for Vulturess and then along comes Proto Goblin. Damn you Raimi :cmad: So maybe it was Sony and not Raimi?

Yeah well, do what you have to do (lol @ me)

Still happy they rebooted it. Raimi's cheesefests and direction make me vomit. A new direction was needed IMO, Proto Goblin or not.

Look who was right? Movie may still be amazing, but I lol at the people who get their hopes up only to be let down. Sony reared its ugly head with SM3, did again with SM4, and then people think the reboot is going to suddenly be the best thing ever. This is the X-Men boards all over again. Wolverine was going to be amazing! It was going to redeem X3. Better to be cautious and suprised than be excited and disappointed. You can already see people trying to rationalize what Van Adder is going to be in the film other than who he is in the comic.

Except that Sony's track record >>>>>>>>> Fox's track record.

and I can see people who automatically assume proto goblin will be a villain in the reboot...so it evens out on speculation
no one is right...you just want to be so bad.

Fox is doing better. It seems whatever demon was inside Fox execs have moved over to Sony execs and some have even found their way over to WB.

Fox is doing better? You're kidding, right? Have you not been following the news for First Class? If you thought Proto-Goblin was obscure, look at some of the mutants they're casting over there. Also, where's the "First Class"? Fox always is, and will always be, a steaming pile of horse****.

You should throw a pole together Vulturess Vs. Proto-Goblin: Who would you rather have?

I wouldn't want to see a Goblin in any form, we had three films based on him in some form or another. I wouldn't even want to see the classic Green Goblin, I'm Goblined out for the moment. Perhaps in the third film of the new series. I'd rather see Norman Osborn built up to an impressive, serious, obscure and foreboding foe to come.

Putting any Goblin in the first film, would show the audience that Spider-Man's rogue gallery is extremely small, which isn't the case. As if he's Superman, who has a limited amount of villains.

Ironically, Superman's reputation only comes from mismanagement of his villains in the movies. We have never seen a live-action (outside of Smallville) Brainiac, Metallo, Mongul, Darkseid, Bizarro, Doomsday, Kryptonite Man, Livewire, etc.

So that's my roundabout way of saying I agree it's too early to rehash the Goblins, but if they go to a trilogy it needs to be addressed.

I think they started to get better due to Rothman moving up the chain of command. He's not as hands on from what I've heard. I have my fingers crossed for both X-men: First Class and the new Wolverine. It was great to hear that Aranofsky wouldn't sign on unless he had creative control, so I'm looking forward to a trailer for that one.

If this Proto-Goblin is the villian that will be a disappointment but I'm still excited to hear and see more about this film.

Has it been confirmed yet if Leary is in fact going to be Cpt. Stacey?

I actually like the three Superman villains highlighted, which would make an excellent trilogy. You can scrap the rest.
