Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

Guys, just finished it, best game I've played on my PS4 since Uncharted 4. It plays like one big, gorgeous comic book. Insomniac should be
given full credit for the game's super-efficient and innovative design. GOTY for me so far, unless RDR 2 or AC Oddessy (don't laugh, it's supposed to be great)
can knock it off its perch.

I was thinking more along the lines of this

Whoever owns these pants is lucky Peter did not pee in them in his sleep.

Loving the game! However, I keep getting my b#tt kicked by Electro all the time...

Since Bryan Intahar has mentioned adding more stuff to do in the open world, what kind of activities would you guys like to see added to random crimes?

For starters, Peter needs a job. Maybe not the pizza job, but in the age of Amazon packages & Uber-eats, THWIP the 1 & only web-zip delivery service would be a nice way to explore more of the map Insomniac worked so hard creating. I would love to deliver a secret package to Nelson & Murdock's office sent from Sanctom Sanctorum. They can use random NPCs to receive & send (maybe Wong for Sanctom Sanctorum), or drop off paperboy style.

Some random events that aren't crimes would be nice. I always liked being able to help out injured civilians or help people that were about to fall in SM2 and USM. A more polished version of the rescue people from burning building missions in ASM2 would be cool. It's kind of monotonous that every random event involves us beating up criminals atm. As for the actual random crimes, I kind of wish they'd get rid of (or at least make uncommon) the inexplicable box truck full of enemies that shows up after almost every single car chase we stop.

Would you guys like to swing around as Peter Parker? That's a yes for me.

You know what would be awesome? They’ve mentioned he had to get over his fear of heights when he came Spider-Man. They should release a version where he never did and ever time he starts to swing he scream uncontrollably.

And when he goes to a really tall building like avengers tower he loudly and ver noticeably cacks his dacks. Who wouldn’t want to play a game like that?

His face looked generic to me, like it could have been any video game character template. I felt like they put more care into designing Octavius' look.

I thought so in the beginning but I actually kind of ended up feeling attracted to him by the games end. It’s a very New York story, begins with a date where you have nothing in common with someone and then suddenly that romantic moment starts to swell. Very sex and the city.

I would pay $$$ to be able to play as Spider-ham.

Same! It would have been so funny. I’m sure he will appear in a sequel. That’s why I want them to do spiderverse

I'm not a fan of timed challenges like the Taskmaster bombs. I wouldn't mind chasing down more cars though or stealth challenges.

The Sympiote being there at the end, and developer comments about why the black suit wasn't in the game, indicate to me that they have a major story arc planned for Peter in regards to wearing the black suit, that that will be a big thing in the next game, which is why it wasn't a skin for this game.

I think it would be interesting to have dual characters. The game did that with MJ or Miles missions.

Have Spider-man infected with the symbiote and disappear

Next level is Miles Spider-man looking for Peter and doing missions.

"Where are you Pete? This is your city. I need you"

For the sequel, they need to add more stealth takedowns It sucks that there are only 3 (perch, strike and from behind). I got tired of seeing the same animation everywhere. They also introduce ziplining into vents early on but you almost never really use that. Missed opportunity in the indoor hideouts to add that

Going for platinuming and while Ive heard how great this game was for that, Im finding it quite tedious to get 100% in every district

ETA:

I know there will be a New Game Plus mode, but Id love it if they'd also add a Boss Rush mode. The boss fights in this game are so fun and well done that I'd love to replay them especially if they added an Arcade aspect to them where you can replay for a better score. I dont expect this but it would be cool if they could add alternate skins to the bosses too

Sort of. They were originally taken from a Pro but I've been too lazy to transfer them to usb, so I just screenshot my image gallery. Taking a screenshot of a screenshot kind of lowers the quality.
It looks a lot better in these screen shots than it does on my regular ps4 and HD tv. I'm so jealous lol

Do you have to get gold on all the taskmaster challenges to get platinum? If so I won’t get it. I’m horrible at the drone challenges.

Nah, you only need to get a Spectacular rating. And I think it's only one of each. So one Spectacular rating in a Bomb, Drone, Combat and Stealth challenge.

Oh man, if you like my screenshots, the game is crisp on a ps4 pro. Like I said, my uploads are screenshots of a screenshot and does not do it justice. I don't have a 4k tv though.

I first played it on my launch PS4 and thought it looked great, but I got the Spider-Man bundle the next day, and it's def an upgrade. You definitely notice the difference more if you go back and play on the base PS4 after pro.

I will probably upgrade my tv to 4k some time next year.

Cool. Still won’t get platinum though bc the drone challenges are too hard for me. I always tend to overshoot when I’m swinging.

For some reason when I fought Vulture/Electro, and best Vulture first... the generators wouldn’t respawn and I couldn’t take down Electro.

So, apart from me :cwink:
Who else bought a Playstation 4 Pro just because of this game?

I’ve been on vacation for the past week and finally back home I was able to pick up where I left off with Spider-Man. I’m now at around 70%-ish completion and just passed the part…

where you fight Li on the subway. Despite not enjoying the MJ stuff so far in this game, during this mission where you control both MJ and Spider-Man in the museum was an absolute joy. While MJ’s game mechanics are certainly lacking her part in this story was used greatly during this scene. Yeah, Spidey could have just taken them all out using stealth on his own like in other moments of the game but still this was a nice inclusion of MJ into the gameplay. The tension during the scene was well played and it was a great moment when you have to disarm that bomb. Really good stuff. The actual boss fight with Li and the moments leading up to it were fantastic. I’ve seen some complaints about the boss fights from some posters on here but this one was really fun. I definitely enjoyed it and I love how, just like with some of Playstation’s other exclusives, it feels just like you’re playing a movie. Bravo.

I’d also like to mention…

how much I am enjoying this interpretation/adaptation of Otto. Man, is he great in this! The voice actor is brilliant and the direction is well executed. This is essentially an update or a reimagining of the 616 origin but all the classic elements of Otto’s character are intact. This is how you’re supposed to do an adaptation…those peeps at Marvel’s film division need to pay attention and take some damn notes. I kind of thought when we first see Otto with arms attached and as Peter you need to do some puzzle solving to correct some issues with the schematics of the power and whatever it was within the design of the system running the arms, that they’d go the SM2 route and have the AI in the arms be the ones to blame for Otto’s actions. But after that scene fully plays out that is clearly not going to be the case and I couldn’t be happier about that. I can’t wait to see how this all progresses but at the moment, this may be one of my favorite versions of Otto and hopefully Ock—right up there with Spectacular.

Anyone agree with the criticisms of this video concerning the web swinging (and its deficiencies) in this here game?

I had a lot of fun swinging around in this game. But I cannot deny that the web swinging not as good as it could've been and not on the level of Spider-man 2. Which was genuinely momentum and skill based.

I'll watch the video later, but if you go back and play SM2, it might not be as good as you remember in my opinion.

Realistic physics sounds good, but when playing a game, it doesn't automatically mean it will play better or be more fun. Sometimes, real is boring. It works best for sports or simulations, but for superhero games that do unrealistic stuff, going for 100% realism is almost dumbing it down. This game does a great job of balancing arcade fun mixed with somewhat real physics.

To begin with, even the most basic of jumping, strings attaching to buildings, and being able to start a smooth sequence of swinging in different directions is unrealistic to pull off with real physics.

Now that I've watched it, that was a great video. When he 1st compared other games to the mechanics of this game, at first I was thinking, yeah but even just watching Spider-man in movies, web swinging always looked effortless to him, so swinging should not be the challenge of this game, he's a pro at this point. He did make a great point about in Mario, you can do basic jumps to end game, but executing more challenging jumps grants you access to some cool areas & rewards. That would've been cool, but unfortunately with enough playtime, everything about swinging in this game will eventually equal out to Mario's basic jumps.

But I do think in some areas like the
dream sequence
, or maybe areas like central park, it would've been great to intergrate some of those other games mechanics. Like having to aim before you can swing on to crumbling rocks/boulders. That would've added some change of pace and depth.

Great video though. I agree with a lot of what he said. Especially with his Arkham combat comparison and his end statement about just ultimately wanting to play as Spider-Man.
