Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

I think what would have made the DLC good instead of mediocre:

1. The ability to play as Black Cat. The fact that this didn’t happen was a missed opportunity.

2. An actual boss battle. The new enemies with miniguns were cool but beating wave after wave of them as the finale to this chapter of the DLC was sort of underwhelming. I get that they’re saving Hammerhead for later but hell, I would have taken Screwball as a boss fight in this chapter.

That first point is disappointing. I would have thought it was obvious you could.

I'm assuming since there are 2 more DLC's, that this fits into a larger story. I'm waiting for all 3 before I get any so I can play at once.

You would think that they’d
have Felicia as a playable character but I guess they want to leave any superpowered/costumed vigilante business to Spidey alone, since the MJ and Miles missions from the main game were pretty much just sneaking around.

And this pretty much is the first part of a larger story. You probably get an 8-9ish hour long game from the three of them.

I actually enjoyed everything about that first museum mission. It's a great play place to web perch around and fight. It's almost sandbox level. For the last part, I just placed a trip mine on each end of the SUV next to the exit to catch the running thieves. Black Cat chase was great also.

I thought the length was just right. Especially for a 1 of 3 from a $25 dlc. They did some good things. Not a fan of Screwball. I don't mind the challenges, but the character. It could've been anybody else Spider-man related, maybe J Jonah Jameson... some of it even feels like it should've been Mysterio Challenges.

Maybe Black Cat will be playable at the end of the series. I wish instead of MJ or Miles, we get more Peter Parker segments. Not labs or FEAST, but give him some missions where he can run around, parkour, but the stealth part is in using his powers. When he absolutely needs to use it, he has to wait for an opening when nobody is looking, or it's mission retry.

This is not MJ. Nothing about her is MJ. This is a new character. I call her Fem J.

And what's annoying about her is that she's a one note, transparent, condescending Mary Sue. It's a shame, because mechanically and visually this game is excellent, but it loses major points because of the underlying political agenda. I just wan't a Spider-man game, I don't want some preachy, pretentious writer trying to get me 'woke' about how everything I like is sexist and women are better than men. Fem J is more mature and rational than Spider-man. She's more successful. She constantly acts as the voice of reason, correcting Spider-man, solving problems for him and taking charge.

You all know that they intentionally made her less attractive. She has no curves. Silver Sable -aside from being way too powerful- is in a trench coat, Black cat is dressed more modestly... yet we see a shredded Spider-man literally running around in his underwear.

The Arkham series didn't do this.

Are you serious? You're seriously complaining about the game not portraying female characters sexually?

I really love the eyes on the Insomniac original design. Reminds me a lot of Gabriele Dell'otto's Spider-Man. This actually really makes me wish that we could get a number of the classic 616 costume, designed by various different artists. Bagley, Dell'otto, MacFarlane, etc.

Pretty sure I read he actually designed that new original suit, so there ya go!

Still haven't beat the DLC, about 80% through it. Probably will beat it tonight, though. The character interactions are great, if you loved the game it's more of what you enjoyed and a fun post conclusion continuuation. From what I'm hearing it sounds like it might work better if you just played all 3 of the chapters at once for a complete story, but it's still a pretty fair amount for one part of the pie.

Finished the main story in the DLC and enjoyed it. It felt about an hour too short. Even though theres more to come I wish this were a little longer.

I finished 100%. There is a lot of room for improvement in core gameplay tbh. I would rate it Story 8/10, gameplay 8/10
I feel bad saying this since Insomniac really put in enormous effort, but maybe next time we can have the true definitive Spider-man experience

I don't really get the obsession with playing as Black Cat. They're obviously not going to put as much care and attention with her gameplay as Spider-Man, so she'll just end up being an unsatisfying, half-assed character. I didn't care too much about the other playable characters in the Arkham series either, since again, they were obviously afterthoughts compared to how Batman was built.

I wasn't a big fan of the MJ and Miles sections in the main story either, save a couple of exceptions.

I never liked playing as Catwoman in Arkham City, so I didn't mind not playing as Black Cat in this one. I always hate it when I lose control of the main character and am forced to play through random objectives I do not care about.

What? I never said anything about portraying them sexually.

I'm complaining about how the team felt it necessary to cover up Silver Sable and Black Cat's bodies (despite them always wearing skin tight outfits) and taking away Mary Jane's model looks, yet they decided to literally put Spidey in his underwear. Was he portrayed sexually according to you? What's the logic here, that only the female body must be hidden?

Silver Sable in particular makes no sense because she is required to fight and be agile.

They changed her "model looks" because she's not a model in this game? She's a normal person, and she looks like a normal person.

You know that models actually exist right? They are normal people. And beyond that, women with model looks exist, that aren't actually models. My point is why did they want to change this? Why did they think there was something wrong with the traditional MJ, Silver Sable and Blackcat? I liked all of these characters as they were, but clearly these people didn't.

I want a definitive Spider-man game, I don't want people who don't like the source material trying to impose their standards on me.

I’m finding the Screwball Combat Challenges very difficult. Can someone please help me complete them within the allocated time?

Finished The Heist tonight, enjoyed it a lot. Can't wait for the next part. I'm sure some of you guys can probably wait for all 3 parts before getting any DLC, but I can't wait lol. Great character interactions, lots of intrigue, more fun, excited to see where it goes.

Are you running out of time? Or is your score too low?

If you're running out of time, use finishers and gadgets to take enemies out quickly. Webbing people to walls is the fastest way. To maximize your score you need to get as many photo bombs as possible, even if it takes a little longer.

Have they said how many DLCs there will be for this game?

These were easier than Taskmaster's, once you figure it out, you should get Gold. Don't ever miss a Photobomb!

On the gadget challenge, use only gadgets. Launch a whole group with that air launch gadget, then attach trip mines as fast as you can & as many as you can to the lifted thugs. It goes Double Takedown, Triple Takedown, to Multi Takedown.

Combat challenges, save your finishers for photobomb. If out of finishers, place tripmines on the floor of the photobomb areas. Also impact web works in a pinch in photobombs.

The speed challenges, don't swing through trail, find shortcuts by either looking at your small map for the next target, or holding L2 to look around. You'll get to know the course through repitition. Don't ever miss a photobomb in this one.

If I was off today, I'd finish the last 10 crimes, last mission and DLC prior to RDR2 tomorrow. I should have taken off both days. LOL

ugh, are there more crimes to do in this DLC? I hate the random crimes. They're so repetitive.

That was the biggest annoyance after Act II, oh good more crimes.

I get why they're there, and I like that the random crimes happen. But they need more variety, and they should have cut the amount to complete districts to 5 instead of 10.

I'm annoyed by the fact that you can't manually land on a car during car chases. There have been so many times where I manage to jump onto a car before it takes off, only to be thrown onto the ground. Sometimes I'm swinging after a car and the triangle prompt won't show up, but I'm not allowed to land on it. Makes those crimes feel too automatic.

Also, it seems impossible to dodge bullets while chasing a car sometimes. Anyone else get this problem?

That annoys me sooooo much. Thugs suddenly turn into Bullseye when they are in a runaway car, speeding through the streets, with a moving target that is swinging from building to building.
