Far From Home Spider-Man Sequel General Discussion and Speculation

Anyone have any ideas on why Mysterio would cause Spidey to travel around the world?

Maybe in Homecoming sequel Peter eventually figures out that the Tinkerer is working with Mysterio and visits Toomes in prison for information. That could give Keaton one scene. But if they wanted to expand his role, maybe there could be some legal issues with his arrest, and Toomes agrees to help Spidey only if he does something that will help him get released earlier.

And perhaps Doctor Strange is the guest starring hero this time. Maybe after a few encounters with Mysterio Peter is worried that he is going insane because of what happened to him in Infinity War. So he goes see a doctor with similar experience. Maybe Doctor Strange could also help Peter realise the true potential of his spider-sense. Traditionally that has been his key power in defeating Mysterio.

Maybe he has an international scheme and Doctor Strange helps Spidey travel the world. It could also be helpful for his secret identity if Peter Parker is seen in New York and ten minutes later Spidey is in London.

Whatever ends up in the film, Mysterio needs to be just as complex and nuanced as Vulture was. I mean, he can still be as much of an egotistical whackjob in the film as he is in the comics, but I hope they add some things to keep him human. For instance, if he ends up, say, impersonating Spidey in his absence and tainting his good name, what motivation should he have for it?

Why are people mentioning Doctor Strange being in this? Was it mentioned somewhere? I kind of wish they’d just let Spider-Man run his own film this time around.

Mysterio might create illusions where Peter thinks he is actually globe trotting.
But he is just being fooled.

We know that there's going to be another hero, and Strange just seems logical.

Yeah, I mean they kinda established Peter and Steven as some kind of odd pairing :) having them appear in interviews together almost in every occasion for Infinity War.

Trust me. With Gyllenhaal in the role, he will be complex and nuanced.

Yep. That said, I expected to see them interact more in the movie.

Doc Strange should have a Thor: Ragnarok style cameo at most.

Saw someone say something about Mysterio stealing historical artifacts.

I'm just looking forward to finding out his motives

Mysterio likely will be on some type of themed crime spree, me thinks.

Well, let me throw out a scenario...based on what we've read from Fiege, "HC2 taking place immediately after the events of A4." Piggybacking on that; here's the scenario....

Whatever Spidey role is in A4, regardless how minuscule his role may be...he could possibly be overseas when A4 is done. Him & Stephen preparing to head back to NY when something big happens, lets say London :wow: and the perpetrator in Mysterio. Spidey(for whatever reason is alone) feels he has to do something & goes after this mysterious figure. They tangle, they feeling each other out...Spidey may be a hiccup; but, Mysterio eventually accomplish whatever it was he set out to accomplish, and get away.

Meanwhile, Beck is well aware Toomes had a run in with masked character & seek info about who this character is...but instead, he is informed by Gargan, Toomes indeed know who the masked man is. When Beck visit Toomes, Toomes deals..."get me out, I'll tell you, here's my people, make it happen"...whether he plan to honor the deal or not. Beck & Tink create a plan to make Toomes disappear, not unbeknownst to Gargan, who wants out too.

Anything can happen at that point....just a scenario to show how it not necessarily Spidey is encountering Mysterio all over the world...I think that statement could be a "little misleading". It could be Spidey encountering things involving Beck, before he makes it home, back in NY...and may meet some supporting characters while overseas, in the mist of his travel home.

What if this takes place over the summer? Peter will have just come back after being killed in action, and Stark will most likely be killed off or retired in a way he won't be around anymore. What if he gives up Spider-man and takes an internship at the Bugle? That could be a catalyst for him to travel the world and get caught up in an international crime spree that draws him back in to crime-fighting.

I like the Summer idea. Spider-Man: Summer Vacation  Good concept.

Well Strange's Sanctum is unguarded Wong can't be everywhere. It is possible he is doing it post Snap.

There also is a Sanctum in London. Yes, trashed in Doctor Strange, but no doubt the building is still there.

So I wonder how they're going to make Mysterio's illusions get pasted Karen. I feel like she should be able to scan right by that and let him know that it's not real. Hope they work around that in a logical way that doesn't feel forced or off.

Karen wasn't even in IW from memory, so who even knows if they'll bring her back.

We saw a slight suit re-design in that promo art for whatever it was, so maybe Pete's even gone totally cold-turkey from the Tony-tech by now?

Hope they do keep Karen though personally, thought I'd hate the idea of Pete with an A.I. but it actually worked really well in context, and preserves some of the notion of the thought-bubbles from the books. Plus hey, Connelly.

I think I've figured out Marvel's marketing problem for Homecoming 2. Everybody is asking how on earth are they going to market a movie with "dead spider-man" and only 2 months after Infinity War.

Easy. Say that Miles Morales is in the movie. Don't show any pics, don't show any footage of him. However, show Spider-man in a trailer swinging and all that. And people assuming that's Miles.

And then when the movie arrives, Miles is actually in the movie, but as a small child (he was teased in homecoming).

So, Marvel won't be lying and Peter still lives.

I know Miles has a different suit but that shouldn't matter at this point.

Anyway, that's my 2cents.

This idea is awful. Most of the people seeing this don't even know who Miles is.

I still prefer the idea of Mysterio as a superhero wanna be turned bad. Someone who uses filmmaking techniques as a substitute for superpowers and is really only in it for fame (maybe he’s inspired when suddenly all the superheroes disappeared.)

You could even sneak in a sly joke about Gyllenhaal almost being Spider-Man once.
