How can Marvel's desire to remove Garfield from the role be a major point of contention with Amy Pascal if Sony have already fired him? It should be a non issue, unless she was hiding the fact that he's fired and simply trying to use him as a negotiating tactic.

Now that Garfield should know that he has been fired from these email leaks, he shouldn't even want to come back.

The emails make it sound like Garfield is gone regardless.

Or maybe Latino Review made up their scoop...

We need another hack. Actually, hack Sony again AFTER the summit.

I dont see how its hard 2 understand that if MARVEL gets creative control. They will simply want their own take on the character ? That would include no Andrew anyway

Sony and Marvel need to come to a creative control compromise. Marvel writes the script designs the costume and handles casting but Sony sign off on every decision directly affecting Spider-Man. That's a fair deal IMHO.

All MARVEL or nothing. Sony having any type of say in the MCU is a scary thought

They wouldn't have say on anything not Spider-Man related. And forgot about Sony selling outright, that simply isn't going to happen. It's a compromise or no deal.

This creative control thing is just too complicated and won't work IMHO... There are SPE execs, japanese execs and now Marvel guys? Just no. Too many people involved, too many things to decide. I can only imagine some cameos in MCU here and there. Then IMHO both Marvel and Sony would profit.

Then keep him at Sony & watch him fail as long as he is with Sony at this point. MARVEL should not have 2 sell their souls 2 the Devil (Sony) for Spider-Man in the MCU

Sony would simply sign off on ideas like like Marvel sign off on each and every Spider-Man movie.

Marvel would only have to put in 60% of the filming cost and ZERO % of marketing and distributing and with the right movie that makes a billion would see a return of 600m off a 120m investment.

Its not worth it having Sony's questionable quality control around. They are doing just fine without Sony. In the end they do not need Spider-Man. Especially if Sony wants any type of say. Sony needs MARVEL. Its not the other way around

Do you know studios don't receive 100% of theater grosses?

Obviously Marvel and Disney want the deal to happen. It was Sony who walked away from the deal.

Sony want to sign off on casting that involve SM and supporting characters that would appear in a SM movie - What's wrong with that?

Sony want to sign off on decisions that involve Spider-Man - What's wrong with that?

Don't forget that Marvel have exec producers on Spider-Man movies and they (Sony) can't proceed unless Marvel sign off on them (like Spider-Man killing). If Marvel made good casting choices, made a kick arse costume and the script was strong, Sony would sign off on it. Why wouldn't they?

Sony had their shot. Time 2 go in a different direction. MARVEL is doing the smart thing. MARVEL does not need Spider-Man in the long run

No but they get a large percentage. Marvel/Disney 's costs and therefore risk, would be significantly reduced in the deal.

If it does not happen then it does not happen. Sony can continue 2 crash & burn with bad Spidey movies

Yeah, that's a GREAT deal for all the Spider-Man fans around the world. Talk about biting off your own nose to spite your face.

Around 55% in North America, 25% in China and 40-45% in Europe and Asia. So Sony probably didn't make any money on ASM2 before (poor) DVD / blu-ray sales, streaming etc.

It varies from country to country, in China they only get about 17%. In the US it varies with it starting at about 80-90% and going down each week that the film is being shown. Overall the studio only ends up with about 60% of the box office world wide.

And as others say Marvel/Disney don't really need Spider-Man back right now. They will make more from ASM2's merchandising (of which they get 100%) than Sony will make on the film itself.

Perhaps Sony should hire new people ? Instead of letting the current people who clearly dont know what they are doing still work there ? Maybe just maybe Sony should look at themselves ?

You're that guy who loves ASM2, no?

If Garfield is out then I'm out as well Besides, I want to see a Marvel produced Spider-Man movie. If that doesn't happen then I want an A list director and writer. Wipe the slate clean and start fresh.
