Really? Hypno-Hustler and The Santa Claus Burgler? Those are the characters they have a hissy fit over? Not Kingpin? Not Daredevil?

Frankly, the lack of Santa Claus Burglar is really what sunk TASM2. All that bull**** about Spider-Man blood and Electro's magic dubstep powers only happened because of the hasty rewrites after Sony found out Santa Claus Burglar was unavailable. Santa Claus Burglar would have saved the movie. The Sinister Six setup alone really suffered when Santa Claus Burglar couldn't be included. You know how we got those Kraven and Mysterio teases in the credits, but not in that scene with that mysterious dude with the hat? Yeah, hat-man originally walked by a big *** gift bag and Hypno-Hustler's sunglasses. Marvel really screwed Sony over when they licensed Spider-Man to Sony without Santa Claus Burglar. I hear the MCU deal hinges on Sony getting to finally use Santas Claus Burglar in a solo film.

Those bastards. I heard that Santa Claus Burglar was supposed to be a disgruntled Salvation Army bell ringer who used to work for Oscorp.

BTW, how can I use what you wrote as part of my sig?

Best to ask someone else. Notice how I'm rockin' no avatar and no signature? Yep, never really messed with my settings on here. :oldrazz:

(I'd think you could just do some copy-pasting, though. You've got a sig, so I'd assume you know how to put one in.)

Nah, I'll just savor the memories of your epic post :yay:. Someone needs to make a Sony-style villain poster for Santa Claus Burglar.

Anno did not deserve his ban. We disagreed about a lot, but we talked about it respectfully and had good discussions. Besides, his love for The Dark Knight Rises was sorta hilarious. 10/10 fanboy

What was he banned for, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah and he's been proven to be legit.

Lurker for 5 years. :cwink:

Has he surfaced at all since TASM2?

I think I started lurking around the time Thomas Haden Church was cast for SM3. That's about 10 years ago now.

No he hasn't posted in a while, but I see he still comes on.

Your bio says "lurker for 5 years" you should change that haha.

I would actually like to take a minute to thank Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield for making a mediocre and awful movie that has pushed Sony so far that they are negotiating with Marvel. Thank you too so much. It's my wildest dream come true. We couldn't have done it without you guys!

Haha, there's always a silver lining.

From Reddit

Take with a pinch of salt but bear in mind this is the same guy who broke a lot spoilers months before the release of ASM including the Spider-Man blood as a cure.

That sounds great. So it looks like the contracts are finalized, now all Disney and Sony need to do is sign them and issue a formal press release.

But the best part about this (potential) deal, is that Sony would still act as distributor for Spider-Man films. Why is this good news? Because they already have 11/11/16 marked for the planned Sinister Six film and most likely have tentative release dates in mind for the ASM3 and Venom.

While those films will be dead, the release dates they occupy will not be, and can be re-purposed for new Marvel Studios Spider-Man films!

If Sony keeps that November 11, 2016 date for their Marvel-produced Spider-Man, it's going against the Disney-released Doctor Strange in its second weekend. Disney doesn't want to compete against itself.

A more likely release scenario for a MCU Spidey reboot is 2017, but that already has three Marvel Studios pics (May, late July, early November). Sony and Disney would have to come to a consensus regarding the release dates, to avoid conflict and eating into one another's profits.

If Marvel wants to break the mold for off-season releases, like they did with CA2 (April) and GOTG (August), they could conceivably try February, mid March, or even fall (late September or October). Their rivals are embracing that strategy, and the right ones have banked a lot of money. And ignoring the game of chicken WB and Disney had over the release date war, WB's biggest movie, Batman V. Superman, comes out in March -- as opposed to summer or Thanksgiving/Christmas.

Sony could release a Marvel-produced Spidey reboot in February 2017, and watch the money roll in. I'm serious, that's how powerful the MS brand is.

If they go 2017, I'm thinking they'll do April. No Disney films slotted for April in the list I'm seeing, and TWS was a huge hit in that month. If they go 2018, I'm also thinking April. I'm not seeing any announced films for April 2018.

As long as Sony has as little to do with the movies themselves as possible, I'm fine.

I personally think they should keep the Nov 2016 date giving them nearly two years to complete the movie. The clashing of Doctor Strange is unfortunate but movies make the bulk of their money in the first two weeks anyway.

They don't even have a script for the reboot. That 2016 date is pretty much out of the question, and there's little to no chance Disney would even be okay with releasing it there. April 2017 would be a good compromise. It's only five months later, it wouldn't be competing with anything else, and we may get a Spidey appearance in 2016 anyway (Civil War cameo or credit scene).

I'm predicting 2018

I wonder what the dialogue at the Summit would sound like.

Guys, I'm from the future, the following is the transcript

DAY 1:

At the Sony offices, everyone has gathered into the meeting rooms, it is finally happening

Pascal: I don't know how I'm not fired, but here I am, thanks for coming today Mr Feige... We think we know how to save Marvel Studios.

Arad: Venom...

Feige: We don't need saving Amy, we want to finalise the rights for Spider-man, you kinda screwed the pooch on that one I've got to admit. So starting point for us is full control.

Arad: Venom Sequel?

Feige: Get him out now.

Pascal: Avi will be part of any deal we cut, he's invaluable to the spider-man franchise, plus, it's his birthday.

Arad: You-you remembered? My birthday?

Feige: I didn't

Arad: WELL THEN ITS TIME TO LIGHT MY CANDLES. Leaves room

Pascal: Avi! Come back!!! Leaves room.

Feige: Everybody's gone...

And that's how Sony kept the rights to spider-man. At least for a day. Tune in tomorrow to find out what transpired during day 2.
