That is kind of stupid since MARVEL does not need saving

If they go 2017, I'm thinking they'll do April. No Disney films slotted for April in the list I'm seeing, and TWS was a huge hit in that month. If they go 2018, I'm also thinking April. I'm not seeing any announced films for April 2018.

That sounds reasonable too. I think Marvel will want a two-month gap between the movies, to keep moviegoers from getting burnt out. Sony may think differently, though.

March 2, 2018 is also a good possibility.

I say they fill their gap in 2016 and be done with it.

That's less than 2 years of development time. Not a good idea.

However, if the rumors are true that Marvel already has a script ready and already looking at directors and actors -- they're pretty far along.

My hangup with Sony sticking to the November 2016 date is that it conflicts with another MCU film in its second weekend. At the minimum, there needs to be a month between them, if not two. (But if they move to December 2016, it'll open against Disney's SW spinoff and I can't see them opening the Spidey spinoff in January 2017.)

If Marvel and Sony want to release the Spidey reboot in late 2016, it'll have to be earlier than November. October is starting to turn into another viable month for off-season blockbusters -- Gravity made roughly the same amount TWS did worldwide ($716 million). Hell, if Sony and Disney want to be really bold, they could take the 'Untitled SPI Film' off the September 23 spot and give it to Spidey.

Marvel moves quickly. There's already rumors about casting, a possible script, and overall MCU outline (with Spidey incorporated). 2016 is not completely out of the picture, IMO. I still think there's a reason they left that slot open, it just seems too convenient.

But the empty slot is the summer slot, which would be really tight, unless not only do they have a script but are close to a director and cast.

I'm sure they can pull together a crew in time for early 2015. Again, we might not see a solo movie until post Infinity Wars, which I'm also fine with.

Do people not understand that if a deal is made. Sony will have no say over Spider-Man movies anymore ? It will be all MARVEL. Stop including both in sentences lol

A new leaked email implies otherwise.

I'm guessing cameos in CW, Infinity Wars PTs 1&2 and then full solo in 2019 after Infinity War Pt. 2.

Nah man donut is from the future he can predict that Sony will make a deal out of their own free will that will completely cut them out of the property cause screw logic

Why would Disney want 2 give Sony stuff like say on final cuts of movies if Spidey only has a cameo / credits scene ? That would be Sony letting someone like Avi Arad ruin MARVEL movies

Marvel would have creative control. It would be a 60/40 split. Sony would get distribution rights and Marvel can make as many movies as they want with Spidey. It's not just for a cameo.

There was a newer email leaked recently posted where the offer was to introduce Spidey in Civil War, make a new Spidey film that wasn't very referential to the rest of MCU, use him in Infinity War, and then make another Spidey film. No details on who exactly gets creative control, but there was at least implication in a co-op, possibly Sony having autonomy on the solos given certain stipulations

Here's the email https://***********/BikiniRobotArmy/status/545474778287456256

After looking at the date change for Doctor Strange, and the dates of the leaked e-mails -- maybe Marvel is far enough in development on the Spidey reboot that maybe they'll release it on July 8, 2016? Marvel likes to jump in feet first and not have an extensive post-production schedule.

We saw how quickly Ant-Man went into production after Edgar Wright left after six years of development. Even by studio standards, it was fast. Marvel had their replacement in a week, and started shooting two months after that. Never underestimate their efficiency and quickness.

I thought it was Marvel that turned Sony down when they made that demand?
