I agree with Spider-X 100%. This game is flawed and certainly missed a few oppurtunities but when you're as big a Spidey fan as me then you can overlook some of those flaws and focus on what's good. In this game that's the combat and swinging, best combat in a Spidey game by far. The free roam leaves a lot to be desired and I'd like more diverse boss fights with many more classic villains.

As for the story... I don't think it's all that bad for a video game, dialouge sucks but that's not why I play video games. You want good writing read a book, comic book, watch a movie or TV. But I think the story works in terms of what they want outta the game. You know it's a good enough game when you're sitting at work suppose to be busy but instead you're thinking about it and posting your opinion on the internet :woot:

that is such...b.s. When buying a video game....I consider the whole package...not just tid bits of the game. I want good controls, good writing, good visuals,etc.....I want an experience.

It's a difference of opinion. Anyone could find flaws in any "perfect" game on the market. I mean if you haven't played the game and your bashing it because of what IGN said that's a bit silly. In my opinion stop being so cheap and at least rent it and form your own opinion because at least you can say you didn't like it based on your own experience, not someone else's.

I am playing the game. And I think IGN wasn't too far off with their review. I'm doing the exact same quest over and over. Beating dozens of enemies, destroying pods, helping civilians. Enemies change, quests remain the same.

I just want the damn story to go on. I'm already skipping all the optional quests, because that would just mean beating another 500 enemies and 100 pods.

if you're talking to me....you have it all wrong. I actually haven't even taken the time to read the IGN review...I kind of refuse to read any reviews...which sometimes screws me over. :o

well good for you! not everyone feels the same way...shocking, isn't it!

Which is disappointing that people are satisfied by only half a game.

You're fine with a game not having good controls, good visuals, good writing, etc...?

It all depends. Look, i'm not saying i don't wish this game was amazing...but what we got seems more than serviceable...I'm not gonna cry about it.

Good controls generally make a game because, well, it's how you do anything in a game, so no, I'm not ok with bad controls. But when it comes to graphics and story, depending on the game, I'm fine with them not being outstanding. But that's me.

I'm not going to be as pompous as to say someone is full of B.S. because they are ok with letting certain game qualities slide and still enjoying a game.

I don't think anyone is happy that this game could have been better...but they can still be happy with what we got.

sure, nothing is perfect...perfection is what we strive for but seriously...after so many years of video gaming...you would swear they'd have some sort of idea on how to get to their goal while also satisfying. I'm not one to be happy with what I get...I reach out for more...but I guess that's just me.

So, I'm confused on Venom, I know it's the Eddie Brock Venom, but what about his suit? It looks A LOT like the Gargan Venom.

its his modern look but brock. the game isn't in any shape or form comic continuity really.

I wonder why they would make this Venom Eddie Brock, but give him the Matt Gargan design.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just give him the original Venom emblem?

well like i said, they used the modern look for EVERYONE. its also a video game so some peoples "modern looks" are even altered (black cat and cage for instance) alot more people would have complained if it was gargan...

I think Nathan is trying to start a cult following of people that hate this game the same way he does. God forbid that some people actually like the game, or better yet....have a difference of opinion! Oh the horror!

I never understand why people complain about something they don't like. I mean if you dislike it that much why not take it back and forget about it? I've disliked games, and I've taken them back and just kind of forgotten about them and how bad they are. It's a shocking concept I know, but it works.

I want to play the Wii version so I can run around with Spidey 2099.

Uh hu...

Not at all. I don't have anything against people liking the game. Who am I to say, what someone can like or not? I just don't like it when people are blind to the obvious faults of the game and talk like it's the best Spider-Man game ever, when it's not. Thus letting developers half ass future Spider-Man games because they know that people will be happy enough with combat and the same defeat 100 enemies Quest.

Would have been better to just make look like the regular old Eddie Brock Venom.

They probably wanted to have Venom's design look more corrupted than Black Spidey, instead of Venom looking like a bigger Black Spidey with a tounge.

Again, God forbid someone have a different opinion that you. Perhaps I'll consult with IGN to tell me what the best Spider-Man game really is.

Try fact. Fact is that WOS is the most repetitive Spider-Man games to come out in the last couple years. Well, let's say one of the most. There's still Friends or Foe.

They're all repetitive. Since Spider-Man 2 introduced the free roam it's been "save this person in this amount of time" or "get them to the hospital before they die"...it's pretty much the same formula most superhero games take. You're a hero, you have to save people in the city or prevent things from happening.

Again, I will consult with the gospel (IGN) so it can tell me which Spider-Man game I should like the most.

Yes, they are all repetitive, to a certain degree. WOS though is one of the most repetitive. All you really do is defeat 10 enemies, save civilian, defeat 20 enemies, save 2 civilians,..... defeat 500 enemies, oh, now go and destroy some pods, save civilians, defeat 100 enemies.

And all boss fights are also the same. Even the last battle against multiple head Venom was nothing but web-striking.

Again, I will consult with the gospel (IGN) so it can tell me which Spider-Man game I should like the most.

Oh, for christ's sake, just get your head out of your ass. I made it clear that I'm not forcing anyone to dislike this game. I have my share of games that I like, but I can admit that they aren't the most polished.

I haven't played WOS but it sounds like it doesn't surpass Spider-man for PS1/N64.
