Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

Yes, they are all repetitive, to a certain degree. WOS though is one of the most repetitive. All you really do is defeat 10 enemies, save civilian, defeat 20 enemies, save 2 civilians,..... defeat 500 enemies, oh, now go and destroy some pods, save civilians, defeat 100 enemies.

And all boss fights are also the same. Even the last battle against multiple head Venom was nothing but web-striking.

Oh, for christ's sake, just get your head out of your ass. I made it clear that I'm not forcing anyone to dislike this game. I have my share of games that I like, but I can admit that they aren't the most polished.

Then why are you jumping on everyone else's ass for liking this game, or saying it's the best Spider-Man game they've played? I mean Jesus man does it really matter if someone happens to think this is the best Spider-Man game out there? I'm sure other people could rip apart some of the games that you like, but at the end of the day who cares? You're out here saying "I can't believe people are overlooking the flaws" well what the hell are you doing by enjoying games that aren't the most "polished"?

Uh hu...

Not at all. I don't have anything against people liking the game. Who am I to say, what someone can like or not? I just don't like it when people are blind to the obvious faults of the game and talk like it's the best Spider-Man game ever, when it's not. Thus letting developers half ass future Spider-Man games because they know that people will be happy enough with combat and the same defeat 100 enemies Quest.

I agree with some of the complaints that you have about the game. Im a big spider-man fan so I see this is being a pretty decent game, at least if a sequel is made, they have better stuff to work with. Die hard fans should get it

I haven't played WOS but it sounds like it doesn't surpass Spider-man for PS1/N64.

Look, I have Spider-Man for the PS1 Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man Friend or Foe, Ulitmate Spider-Man and Spider-Man WoS. And I can tell you with having all of them and still playing all of them that there have been better games since Spidey on the PS1. The only reason we like it so much is because it's nostalgic. The gameplay holds up ok (Monster Ock chase is still fricken awesome), unlike everything else about it. Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and 3, and so far Spider-Man WoS has been better.

is anyone playing this game on ds? i cant stop. :D so much fun. i whoop ass as spidey.

:woot: Yes the DS version is so cool. Spideyvania. I couldn't stop playing yesterday. Drained the battery on my new DS.

The DS version looked promising, definitely better than the PS2 version.

spiderman on the ps1 had decent voice acting, decent script and pioneered the 3d spiderman games with interesting levels with variety and lots of features there for the fans to pick up on.

although dated, it push the playability of the character in a bigger and diverse way than any other spiderman game to date.

and it has plenty of replayability.

And alot of unlockables. One thing I missed in the recent Spider-Man games was the web abilities that you used so much in the PS1 games and also the SM movie game. They were great.

I don't know if you can in WOS, but SM2 didn't allow it, and neither did SM3.

The web gloves and impact webbing were awesome in the PS1 SM...heck I even loved using the dome.

you don't get the gloves, shield or impact webbing stuff anymore?

He can shoot tons of little web balls, that eventually entangle the opponent. He can also charge the attack, which looks like he's performing a web-ball KameHameHa.

And he creates a shield when you block.

It's a shame, the demos looked like it was shaping up to be one helluva ride.

It's not helluva ride, but it's a ride. WOS doesn't shake the universe, but if you can ignore slight repetiveness, WOS is good.

I was about 85% done with the game and my dumb ass brother decided to start over unknowingly and that just kills all my desire to want to play through it again.

Spider-man to for PS1 had the best unlockables of any Spidey game to date. The replayability was also awesome just to play through with another costume or unlock all the comics{My favorite part}.I miss Unlockables.Ultimate Spider-man to me wasn't as great as Spidey for PS1{I don't maybe It's just I hated the chase levels.}Spider-man 2 was on the right track.Great Explorable world but the missions got repetitive. If they fuse the elements of Spider-man 2's Open World and Spider-man{PS1} Unlockables and replayability it would to me be the Perfect spidey game.

Actually the only thing that ruined USM for me was how short it was and the fact that you had to stinkin chase everything you fought. Chase, fight, chase, fight just got old.

Not to mention the combat was garbage and the webslinging was neutered at best. The story was great though.

You know, I'm really thinking all that free-roaming is the reason why Spider-Man games don't manage to achieve the same greatness as Spider-Man on the PS1 did back then.

The Spider-Man games in recent years are missing a lot of diversity. Like the sneaking Missions that were in Spider-Man for the PS1 and even the first movie game. I want those back. Sneaking in through an air vent or sky light, hacking computers, sneaking past security, taking thugs out from the shadows, that stuff. Or searching for Venom in the subway. We simply need indoor Levels back.

Now chases, I don't mind those, as long as there isn't one every couple minutes. But how about a little change? Instead of being the one doing all the chasing, let us be the one being chases. The the helicopter chase on the PS1.

Then boss battles that take more than just constantly beating the **** out of them. Like Rhino on the PS1, letting him defeat himself, I also liked the USM fight with the crane. Or having to destroy all light sources to prevent Electro from re-charging again. Needing water to weaken Sandman, etc.

Not to mention the combat was garbage and the webslinging was neutered at best. The story was great though.

I partially liked the combat. All that jumping around and jumping off walls really fit Spidey, it's just a shame that they practically removed all the web and combat moves from SM2.

I finally got the game yesterday and so far i have beaten Venom for the first time and I've been helping Luke Cage. Other than that I spent the majority of last night just webslinging and leveling up...I'm up to level 6!

I have this for PS3 and so far it's fun as hell. I love the webslinging but it's still gonna take sometime getting used to the controls since I'm so used to SM2 and 3's control layout. There is definitely some screen tearing quite a bit but not MAJOR tears, just very small ones that don't really distract from the fun.

Why do games still suffer from screen tearing...I mean c'mon multi million dollar companies, glitches like that should be non-existant nowadays. :o

Why didn't you save your game?

It was saved, if you start a new game though it writes over your previous game! I can't believe that this stuff still happens in this day and age of gaming.

That's why I save like 2 or 3 files for most of my games. Plus with the autosave.

To avoid disasters like that, my friend. That type of thing is a nightmare.

I back-up all my saves on a flash drive every-so-often...just another idea :)
