Comics Spiderman is the reason I quit Marvel.

Fantastic! some actual intellegent convo! The point I had was made more to the point by someone else, some life altering event happens, then is forgotten. this isn't just because of OMD/BND, it's because of the YEARS of, what has essentially reboots. I personally liked the unmasking and loved Civil War. It made sense. he throught it through, consulted his loved ones and thought they'd be protected. Dispite what people think, I liked the way CW ended, it also made sense. Why would Cap fight for the right, when innocents were getting killed because of it? I also didn't have a problem with the organics. Sure it was just a ploy to tie in with the films, but it didn't bother me. He still had webs.

Maybe quitting ALL marvel titles is a bit drastic, and I DO love MM's stuff, but I can't help but think that anything that happens is just a gimmick now. At least with DC, you KNOW things are going to be reset when they have a "Crisis" title out. :woot: I think that's what really hits it for me. DC doesn't pull something out of left field to change things. You SEE the change coming from a mile away and THAT'S part of the intrigue. How many of you saw Metaphisto coming in to erase everything?

How many of you saw Metaphisto coming in to erase everything?

It's pretty much been alluded to for the past 3 years or so. We've seen it coming since Joe Q started doing interviews about putting "Genies back in bottles" and such. Also, as soon as One More Day ws revealed to "Answer the question of the Spider-Marriage once and for all", it was pretty obvious. Add to that the fact that fans said that it would be Mephisto almost from day one (he or Loki), and it couldn't get any less predictable...

...doesn't mean it didn't sting any less, though.:csad:

It's not that, it's just the comparison doesn't stand at all. It seems like you were reaching for a way to

show how childish some people who didn't agree with you were.

Maybe because the comments were childish, I didn't say a person who disagrees with me is childish. If I disagree with someone I'll give

them my opinion on why I think they're wrong, and they can do the same, as long as it doesn't get petty there's nothing wrong with that.

(It's been a lot longer than a year since sins past)

*sighs* I just gave a general time frame.

Yes, you explained the stories were "horrendous" which apparently didn't mean you "hated" them (I'm getting

you a dictionary for your next birthday).

Well, let's be fair how do I know the stories are bad until after I read them. I dug "Sin's Past" half way through, I just didn't like the ending. And "hate" would be a strong word. I used the word "horrendous" to make a point, though I would never have used it had I known it would've been scrutinized with microscopic precision.

Ok, reversing the situation. Yeah, I generally bail on most horrible gimicks and poor writing regardless of the outcome. I never said I

didn't want a single pete, or to be rid of MJ. I'm a fan of the character, Pete makes the decisions and choices I wish I could. Makes me

want to be a better man. When my hero starts acting in a way that I, with all my questionable morals, clearly sees as @ucked up, then I

have a problem that I cannot support. Wouldn't matter the result, it's doing the hard thing and not just taking the easy out that makes a hero a hero.

While I agree with what you're saying, I still think you're being a tad bit overly critical. If you're this hard on a fictional character, the real things in life that matter are going to be that much harder. Honestly, that's just friendly advice. :yay: It's up to you.

know why I didn't quit Marvel yet?
.......Deadpool. the best.
Ultimate Spider-Man is so good, too. who read the Clone Saga and Death of a Goblin knows what I'm talking about.
Clone Saga was crap and Death of a Goblin was alright.

cool.

*sighs* I just gave a general time frame.

*Sighs heavily, clears throat, scratches balls* (don't you just hate when peole do that condescending @hit?) Your general time frame was just considerable off, by many times your general amount. When you're trudging through a bad period the differences between one year and many is kinda significant.

I agree you didn't know the stories were bad at the time, but the point is you just kept jamming your hand into the fire even after you kept getting burned expecting a different outcome. That's actually the defination of insanity. As for the microscopic precision, well, welcome to the internet.

Maybe I am overly hard on this fictional character, but I have a great deal invested in peter parker. I'm not speaking financially, or about consumption of time, but I've become emotionally invested in the character. My life has been affect for the better for having read ASM growing up. So it's not like I'm ripping say Tom Clancy for not being correct on some gun defination, I'm ripping my childhood hero for taking the non heroic easy way out and making a deal with the devil. I'm ripping Marvel for basically destroying this character I loved just because an editor wanted it done, and I'm ripping fans that continue to buy this insult because every issue you invest in is just another confirmation nod to marvel to stay on this idiotic track of subpar storytelling.

I don't think I'm being too critical or overly anything though. This is an internet message board. People basically come on to @itch, give/recieve an opinion or look at porn. This isn't real life, and you really shouldn't suppose what someone writes on here while slacking at work is any indication of how they conduct themselves in life. I mean you don't like people to assume they know you just cause they read a post about one of your opinions on one very specific topic do you? That kind of person would just be a presumptious @sshole.

Double cool

*Sighs, gets up, pulls down pants, walks around, grabs drink, walks out front door, waves to people walking by, closes door, puts pants back on, and sits down.*

Nahhhh it doesn't bother me.

Like I said it's up to you, we'll agree to disagree.

im a fan of BND. its hasnt been ground-breaking or anything like that (ive actually gotten back into X-Men because of my lack of enthusiasm for the retcon) but its still enjoyable and i want to see what quesada and co. have planned for him. like many others, i was upset at what they felt they had to do to bring spiderman back to this status quo. i felt the book was at its strongest ever since spidey decided to unmask himself and had to deal with the repercussions. and when i read the initiative and the scarlet spiders put that doubt in everyones minds about spideys true identity, i thought "wow! this has the potential to be the greatest retcon ever." but now well never know where that wouldve led.

im curious if the rest of the super hero community has interacted with the new spiderman. i was thumbing through the newest New Avengers and i saw he was wearing his red and blue again. have they mentioned anything? acted different? how is this affecting the rest of the MU?

Well, his super hero friends no longer know him or remember knowing him.

The rest of the marvel universe is walking around with dementia....aware that they can't remember old events fully or current events such as civil war..ie...they remember him unmasking but can't really remember him unmasking.

I've not read in any of the other titles any of the characters anywhere even the least bit concerned that their minds are swiss cheesed. No one is exploring why. That is very bizarre that no one cares their minds are messed with.

At least batman and others after the justice league mind wiping thing there...checked into it.

Just goes to prove how poorly thought out the spidey editorially mandated WIPING and retcon are. It was basically a MAGICAL way to get out of marriage thru satan and now everyone is oblivious and not written to care about the mental conditions they are walking around with.

Don't even question why people like emma frost, doc strange, any bugle staffer, wolverine, tony stark, the FF, doc doom, hell everyone in 616 existence isn't looking into having their minds obviously @ucked with. I mean it's not like there's some secret invasion going on that would even be more of an incentive to find out why reality has been suddenly whitewashed?

People like having their minds erased and messed with and they're not prone to ask questions.

^Yeh....I just reread the Amazing Spider-Man Civil War TPB and Civil War...and it makes no sense that this current event just happened....and people should reread how it is worded and how Tony and EVERYONE on the planet just went thru this...and it was the linch pin per say...and now people remember this giant global press event...and that spidey unmasked...yet they knowingly know they can't remember it and that their minds are messed with...and not a SINGLE person in any of their titles CARES that their minds are tampered with...???? ANd this is ONLY ONE thing, ONE example of the mindWIPING that has occured that no one cares about having their minds messed with or is actively researching it.

i really would like to see the numbers of how ASM is doing compared to the rest of marvel's books. if posters are saying BND isnt really moving at their stores and others are just boycotting the title, i wonder what marvel is looking at and what theyre thinking right now.
